Hello all, here we are at the end of week 17 of lockdown. Things are lifting and the kids are enjoying playing outside with a few others. Now, if we could improve the weather that would be good. Boy, it has been dreich. It’s grey and that smirry rain constantly it would seem. Come back, Mr Sunshine. This week has been a tough, emotional week, we have some family things going on and it’s been hard. But, I’ve been off work some of this week too, so that has helped a little. How has your week been?
Since last week’s weekly post, it’s been a strange one. Saturday I did some writing workshops and attended some online events though the competition I won. It was interesting, but they were long at 2 hours each and the kids got a bit impatient at times, so I cut a few short. Lucas spent some time with Aria teaching her how to play Fifa which was nice. They spend the least amount of time together. I made some more masks since it’s mandatory for shops now up here. Tyler was a bit emotional and not feeling himself. He did get himself a new mask. Can you see him above? Or I think he’s wanting to blend into the background in his camouflage gear. In the evening Robert and I were both feeling exhausted and emotionally drained. We all had a take away for dinner and we watched Blacklist and started The Sinner season 2.
Sunday, I joined in a few more workshops and Robert went to his mum’s. Aria and I joined in another book workshop which was great fun, but she was quite shy joining in. It is really nice to be able to join into the different book and writing events held up and down the country that I wouldn’t normally be able to attend. It is one definite positive for me that has come out of the current COVID situation. Aria has been saving up her pocket money to get a toy elephant named Juno, you can see him above and how pleased she is to finally have him. Lucas made some super sweet Oreo fudge on his own. Thanks to TikTok for the recipe, he was very pleased with himself. I finished reading my friend’s book and worked on getting her feedback in the evening. It is so good and hopefully, it finds a publishing home soon. I ended the evening with some Grey’s Anatomy, such a great show and I’m fully up to date now. The kids enjoyed playing outside, but I was feeling very unsettled.
Monday and I had one more day of work before some time off. It was a very busy day though. The boys had a 121 football session too. I did my exercise bike. I worked on some editing in the evening. Feeling unsettled today. Struggling to focus on what I need to do. However, it’s been nice hearing kids laugh and scream in delight playing outside with a few kids in the street. Rolling around in the long, flowing grass. Or kicking a ball between each other.
I was off work Tuesday, just a few wee bits to help out if need be. The kids played outside and the two younger ones and I went to the shop. I had been applying for passwords for Lucas and me too. The kids got some magazines and Aria bought a book too in the photo above. The boys went to their first proper football training in ages, albeit very different with the new restrictions. I’m so proud of Robert organising it with everything else he’s got going on right now. He does his best for the club and such a great dad. Lucas was helping out with Tyler’s age group training.
Wednesday saw us chilling. The weather has been so rubbish. I did some editing, some editing for others and I may have sent off a submission of my work. Now, we never speak of this again. In the evening I took the kids for some ice-cream. I had the most amazing parma violet flavour which was delish. Lucas and Robert had their football session. I know it’s been a tough week for Robert, but he did enough seeing all those kids back with big smiles on their faces. I think it makes it all worthwhile for him.
Another day off, but I have been doing some work too. Robert is at his mum’s and I finished my next part of edits. I did some reading too. Robert and I took the kids to another ice-cream shop in the evening for a wee treat. The weather wasn’t good enough to get out at all and it’s been hard. Some had cookie dough, some had waffles, I had ice-cream and Robert had a sundae. It has been a fun thing to do. You can see Aria with hers above. I also picked up a wee bottle of Prosecco which was nice too. I finished the cleaning so I can relax for a few days. I feel so much calmer after a cleanup.
We are back to Friday and my last day off. I am torn between not having done enough with the kids, getting outside the weather has sucked for parks and nothing indoors is open yet. Washing is done and I’ve been catching up on a few things. I have added a photo of my illustration class last week. We did Medusa. It’s not my best work, nor is it finished, but it was done through an hour and a half online lesson and it was really good fun. What do you think?
Not sure what the weekend will hold, but possibly more Fifa, Fortnite and Roblox from the kids and their cousins and friends. Here’s hoping for some sunshine and I really need to get some painting done. I don’t have a lot of space in my head, so I might just hunker down and finish Hamilton and watch some films with the kids. What about you? Sorry, it’s been a bit rambly this week.
Socially distanced hugs to you all. Bye x
Glad the writing workshops went well. Good luck with the submission – won’t mention it again! Hope Tyler is more himself soon. x
Thank you lovely. xx
Sending you warm thoughts and a wish for blue skies -I like the photos today – hope this week the weather changes for you. #MySundayPhoto
Thank you. I hope the weather changes x
So many things are now taking place online rather than in ‘real life’ it’s good because you can do so much more without the travelling. I love the camo mask, it really does blend in.
I think it is good and hope they continue xx
Best wishes with your writing! His mask looks great (sigh sign of the times!)
Thank you x
Beautiful photos, I’m loving the camo mask. Hopeful you get some better weather during the Summer
Thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
Thank you x
The weather has been rubbish hasn’t it. I want the sunshine back too but today seems OK. Bright and a little blue sky.
Sorry it’s been a tough week for you. Sending love and hugs.
Tyler’s mask is fab!
I bet the boys are happy to be back playing football. x
I really hope we get some sunshine xx
Cool camouflage mask! I bet my younger son would love it. It seems everything is online now, with its own pluses and minuses. Sorry to hear that you felt unsettled this week.
Medusa looks pretty frightening, with piercing eyes. Juno is pretty. And the ice cream sounds tasty.
Hope you get a better weather this week, so that your boys could enjoy more football.
Thank you. It was fun and hopefully things will settle xx
I like his facemask, this is the new normal now! X #mysundayphoto
Thank you x
It’s great that sports training is back on again for children. N’s tennis group lessons are back on, and junior sessions have started at the club A bit of normal for them. I’ve been enjoying online classes too – less hassle than needing childcare and allowing for travel (although I do find lots are over tea time, or children’s bedtime).
I think it is good for them to see friends and get out for a bit xx
Wonderful photos!! Glad to hear that you are joining in the workshops and having fun, the medusa looks wonderful. Good luck with the submission, and I promise I won’t mention it again 🙂
-Soma xx
Thank you lovely. I appreciate that xx
Great face mask… love all the cool designs I am seeing. The writing workshops sound like a lot of fun 🙂 I think everyone is feeling a bit unsettled at the moment as we just don’t know what to expect 🙂
Thanks for joining in with #SilentSunday x
Thank you. They are fun xx
Sorry to hear it’s been a tough week. How exciting about the submission! That must feel strange to have taken that step after so long.
Love the photo in the mask, he definitely looks like he’s in disguise! It must be nice for the boys and Robert to get back to football. x
Thank you lovely. Yes, it is strange and the odds are very much against me, but I have to try xx
Roblox has just entered our house so expect to see a fair bit of it now! And love the idea of virtual writing workshops – everything is so London-centric – it’s great to open events across the country. Have a lovely week Susan! x
It is really ncie to do so many virtual things now. Have a nice week x
You sound like you have done plenty! Sorry to hear things are getting more difficult. Make sure to take some relaxing time for you. You sound like you could do with us all booking a spa break and travelling up to join you ((((hugs)))
Thank you. I have never been to a spa xx
Ooooh, I have some Oreo’s which were left out overnight and have gone soggy, and you have inspired me. I can just cook with them! 😀
You should totally make fudge x
Sounds like a productive week, enjoy some time off now. Palma Violet Ice cream sounds delicious, I love the gin flavoured with that. The camouflage mask is great, well done on making them. I’ve borrowed my mums sewing machine so I’ll have a go at some point, if you can, would you send me the pattern/instructions you use please. Good luck with the submission.
It is such a nice ice-cream. I used the one off you tube with a circular pattern. I don’t think you could do it with the sewing machine xx
Love the mask. He looks quite happy wearing it too. #mysundayphoto
Thank you x
Nice to have the week off and nice to get some time to do stuff for you.
they will be glad to get back to proper training.
Love the camouflage.
Agree the weather has been awful
Thank you lovely xx
It’s so nice with lockdown easing. We’ve been able to see a few friends, have barbecues with our closest friends and try and get a glimpse of normality back x
That is good news xx
Glad you’ve been able to join in various online events – it is nice to be able to join in things that you wouldn’t normally have been able to do due to location and yes that’s definitely been one of the positive things to have come out of lockdown. Parma violet ice-cream sounds amazing. I’m very impressed by your Medusa illustration. #project366
It is nice, I hope more things stay available. The ice-cream is fab. Thank you xxx
I feel as if we’ve done NOTHING with the kids so far this summer. Sure we’ve done work, we’ve done reading, we’ve done garden play, we’ve done computer games, we’ve played board games, we’ve watched movies etc etc but we haven’t really been anywhere and I feel sad about that but what can I do?!
Such lovely pictures as always, I so hope that things are ok and I’d love to chat if you need an ear xxx
Thanks for linking up and for sharing with #MySundaySnapshot- tell me more about that elephant!!!
We only have two weeks left and that’s all we have done. Thank you xx
Sorry to hear its been a tough week. Am loving the camouflage mask! Looks pretty cool!
Thank you x
Sorry to hear it’s been a tough week, hopefully this week has been better. That ice cream sounds amazing!
#p365 and #mysundayphoto
Thank you x
That’s fab Robert has organised football training again. I bet lots of children will be so pleased to return. Some much needed normality even if its done slightly different. Sorry to hear you have been feeling drained, I think we have all been juggling so much for so long now it comes to a breaking point! Be kind to yourself and get plenty of rest x
He has done well. Thank you xx
I hope you enjoyed the workshops you managed to get to. I have to admit I’ve been craving ice cream from an ice cream van! Something I don’t normal have.
Thank you xx
We had a Juno elephant, only my daughter snaffled it for Lilah, as her nursery is all elephants. Well done on winning some workshops, shame you had to cut them short though……kids just don’t get it sometimes, so they
Aww that must be nice for Lilah. She is a sweetie x
Sounds like the writing workshop is going well. Lovely photos of your week 🙂 Sorry I am late stopping by, been a mad week but hopping by from last weeks #MySundayPhoto
No problem at all. Hope you are ok x
The writing workshop sounds great glad it is going well. Youve been so busy even if it doesn’t feel it because of the weather. Hopefully the sun has come out for you now x
Thank you x
It sounds like things are really moving forward for you with your writing which is amazing, it is tricky juggling the kids and everything else, particularly with life still not being back to normal. Well done you on making your own masks, I have bought mine and the illustration is amazing, you have a real talent there.
I hope so lovely. You are the sweetest xx
No socially distanced hug this time? Oh it’s at the end 😛 Hugs back! The mask looks great and camouflages with his jacket. Cute Juno, it reminds me of Dumbo. Oreo fudge sounds delicious! Grey’s Anatomy is a fun show but I stopped watching it as there were too many affairs and was getting too long. Medusa looks cool. I want to watch Hamilton!
Always a hug for you. Juno is a bit like Dumbo and the fudge was lovely. That is fair enough about Greys, lots of drama. Hamilton is soooo good x
