Lockdown Week 17 – Masks, Ice-Cream, Juno and Medusa Our Weekly Photos – Week 29

Hello all, here we are at the end of week 17 of lockdown. Things are lifting and the kids are enjoying playing outside with a few others. Now, if we could improve the weather that would be good. Boy, it has been dreich. It’s grey and that smirry rain constantly it would seem. Come back, Mr Sunshine. This week has been a tough, emotional week, we have some family things going on and it’s been hard. But, I’ve been off work some of this week too, so that has helped a little. How has your week been?

Since last week’s weekly post, it’s been a strange one. Saturday I did some writing workshops and attended some online events though the competition I won. It was interesting, but they were long at 2 hours each and the kids got a bit impatient at times, so I cut a few short. Lucas spent some time with Aria teaching her how to play Fifa which was nice. They spend the least amount of time together. I made some more masks since it’s mandatory for shops now up here. Tyler was a bit emotional and not feeling himself. He did get himself a new mask. Can you see him above? Or I think he’s wanting to blend into the background in his camouflage gear. In the evening Robert and I were both feeling exhausted and emotionally drained. We all had a take away for dinner and we watched Blacklist and started The Sinner season 2.

Sunday, I joined in a few more workshops and Robert went to his mum’s. Aria and I joined in another book workshop which was great fun, but she was quite shy joining in. It is really nice to be able to join into the different book and writing events held up and down the country that I wouldn’t normally be able to attend. It is one definite positive for me that has come out of the current COVID situation. Aria has been saving up her pocket money to get a toy elephant named Juno, you can see him above and how pleased she is to finally have him. Lucas made some super sweet Oreo fudge on his own. Thanks to TikTok for the recipe, he was very pleased with himself. I finished reading my friend’s book and worked on getting her feedback in the evening. It is so good and hopefully, it finds a publishing home soon. I ended the evening with some Grey’s Anatomy, such a great show and I’m fully up to date now. The kids enjoyed playing outside, but I was feeling very unsettled.

Monday and I had one more day of work before some time off. It was a very busy day though. The boys had a 121 football session too. I did my exercise bike. I worked on some editing in the evening. Feeling unsettled today. Struggling to focus on what I need to do. However, it’s been nice hearing kids laugh and scream in delight playing outside with a few kids in the street. Rolling around in the long, flowing grass. Or kicking a ball between each other.

I was off work Tuesday, just a few wee bits to help out if need be. The kids played outside and the two younger ones and I went to the shop. I had been applying for passwords for Lucas and me too. The kids got some magazines and Aria bought a book too in the photo above. The boys went to their first proper football training in ages, albeit very different with the new restrictions. I’m so proud of Robert organising it with everything else he’s got going on right now. He does his best for the club and such a great dad. Lucas was helping out with Tyler’s age group training.

Wednesday saw us chilling. The weather has been so rubbish. I did some editing, some editing for others and I may have sent off a submission of my work. Now, we never speak of this again. In the evening I took the kids for some ice-cream. I had the most amazing parma violet flavour which was delish. Lucas and Robert had their football session. I know it’s been a tough week for Robert, but he did enough seeing all those kids back with big smiles on their faces. I think it makes it all worthwhile for him.

Another day off, but I have been doing some work too. Robert is at his mum’s and I finished my next part of edits. I did some reading too. Robert and I took the kids to another ice-cream shop in the evening for a wee treat. The weather wasn’t good enough to get out at all and it’s been hard. Some had cookie dough, some had waffles, I had ice-cream and Robert had a sundae. It has been a fun thing to do. You can see Aria with hers above. I also picked up a wee bottle of Prosecco which was nice too. I finished the cleaning so I can relax for a few days. I feel so much calmer after a cleanup.

We are back to Friday and my last day  off. I am torn between not having done enough with the kids, getting outside the weather has sucked for parks and nothing indoors is open yet. Washing is done and I’ve been catching up on a few things. I have added a photo of my illustration class last week. We did Medusa. It’s not my best work, nor is it finished, but it was done through an hour and a half online lesson and it was really good fun. What do you think?

Not sure what the weekend will hold, but possibly more Fifa, Fortnite and Roblox from the kids and their cousins and friends. Here’s hoping for some sunshine and I really need to get some painting done. I don’t have a lot of space in my head, so I might just hunker down and finish Hamilton and watch some films with the kids. What about you? Sorry, it’s been a bit rambly this week.

Socially distanced hugs to you all. Bye x

So many things are now taking place online rather than in ‘real life’ it’s good because you can do so much more without the travelling. I love the camo mask, it really does blend in.

Cool camouflage mask! I bet my younger son would love it. It seems everything is online now, with its own pluses and minuses. Sorry to hear that you felt unsettled this week.
Medusa looks pretty frightening, with piercing eyes. Juno is pretty. And the ice cream sounds tasty.
Hope you get a better weather this week, so that your boys could enjoy more football.

It’s great that sports training is back on again for children. N’s tennis group lessons are back on, and junior sessions have started at the club A bit of normal for them. I’ve been enjoying online classes too – less hassle than needing childcare and allowing for travel (although I do find lots are over tea time, or children’s bedtime).
