Here we are at the end of another week in lockdown, week 14 in fact, although is it still lockdown? I am not sure anymore with the lifting of restrictions. I guess we still technically are. How has your week been? As always, I have my socially distanced hug all ready for you all. HUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGG.

Thankfully, this week has been much calmer after last week’s weekly post. This is what we have been up to. On Saturday the weather was dry and nice, but not warm and stuffy which was good. Lucas went out for a bike ride for a bit with a friend which was good. Aria played outside while I was editing. Robert had some work to get done but helps when working from home the weekend work is there too. We had a yummy cake delivery in the form of empire biscuits above, some gluten-free cupcakes for Robert for Father’s Day and some caramel cake which was also amazing. Don’t they empire biscuits look fab? Are they a Scottish thing? In the evening we had a wee take away and Robert and I watched some tv. We watched Blacklist, Alex Rider and some Schitt’s Creek. We are kind of lacking on the tv front just now. I also watched the Summer Solstice sunset at Stonehenge live via their stream on Facebook. It was really incredible to watch. I’ve never been to Stonehenge and would love to, this felt like the next best thing. Such a nice thing for the English Heritage to do and it shows that some positives have come out of lockdown.

Sunday was Father’s Day. Always a difficult one for me with it being so close to when I lost my dad. But, we accelerate it for the fathers in our lives and remember those who are sitting on the clouds looking over us. I dyed my hair, my mum stopped by for a visit to the front door, Robert dropped in a gift for his dad and Aria lost a tooth. That was a bit of a drama as it always seems to be when she has a loose tooth. It was so wobbly, it was barely hanging on by a thread. The weather was horrid today. I got some nice Crabbie’s ginger beer with my Tesco delivery which was Rhubard flavour and it was very tasty.

Monday it was back to work and the last few days of school before the summer holidays. Aria was having a very teary day, so that wasn’t too fun in between calls. Work was very busy on Monday. Aria got her days for after the summer holidays in August if they go back part-time, so she will be in Monday and Tuesday and wee besties are Thursday and Friday. She was upset initially but knows it won’t be long, hopefully, if at all and she knows all the others anyway. In the evening I had my writing rejection course which we went over the synopsis so that was all going well. Did some reading after that. Lucas got his timetable for part-time after the summer and got mainly AM they are 2.5 hours a day based over 2 weeks and a couple of PM. He has picked his nat 5 subjects so it’s a bit different fitting those years in.

The last full day of school before the summer holidays was Tuesday. All the kids finished up their schoolwork and Tyler got his timetable. He was pleased he will be in with some of his friends when moving to high school, but his part-time timetable is the opposite of Lucas so that is going to be fun logistics wise. Fingers crossed it’s not for long or not at all going by what our First Minister thinks. Fingers crossed we can stay on track and life will be a bit more normal come August. Lucas has decided he wants smoothies, so he has been buying fruit and spinach for those and making them. It was a busy day at work and we got another wee treat for Robert of some GlutenFree items from the butchers delivered for him. He was very excited by this as it was square sausage, burgers, haggis, black pudding and a steak pie. I finished up my line edits and having a wee break from it for now. I have swapped with a lovely writer friend on twitter and I am reading hers.

Wednesday so the end of the school year. And the end of an era for Tyler. He finished up his primary school years. It hasn’t been the same and I feel he’s missed out on a lot of milestones that P7’s should get, like their residential, leavers service, party or dinner, things like that. The teachers and school did their best and have been wonderful in the circumstances. Here he is above with his leaver’s hoodie, which he was chuffed to get and the back with all his classmates from the last 7 years. They ended their time with an online quiz with the full class and teachers participating. It was lovely for them all to see each other, do something fun and finish on a high. Memories have still been made. Aria had a big day on her gymnastics via zoom in that she passed her level 1 and 2 badges moving her onto Bronze. She was so chuffed and has worked hard at it. We were all proud of her. Since it was the last day of school, I thought it best to order the school uniform. All done except shoes and I didn’t need to leave my desk. Then, just as I was finishing work for the day, Aria comes down in tears. She got chewing gum in her hair lifting the cat. Ice to the rescue and only a little bit cut out. Phew.

Woo hoo, Thursday and the first day of the summer holidays, although I was working, still the kids need the break from my strict homeschooling lol. Some more time to fit in Fifa, Fortnite, Roblox, etc. Aria got a very special delivery in the mail of a postcard from her teacher above. What a lovely way to start the summer holidays we thought. Aria stared on her bronze badge with gymnastics and got quite a few ones to practice over the summer although she might do some 121’s via zoom. I treated myself to a wee folding exercise bike and did my first 5K. Here’s hoping I can keep it up. I did some reading in the evening. The boys got banned from their electronics already, a good start and Aria had fun playing with a friend.

And we made it to Friday. It’s been a busy week. Work has been busy today. Kids have been good, they’ve been doing exercises and playing on their consoles. The weather has been awful and poured down until around 6. There was thunder during the night which was so loud. It is really stuffy too. I have been all the cleaning and washing and ordered the food shop. Hoping for some chilling, reading and spending some quality time with the kids. We have a few plans over the weekend too. But, I really need some time to catch up with myself.

I hope you have a wonderful week and weekend. I will leave you with my quote for those finishing up school, primary, nursery and it’s not been quite how you’d imagined it would go. See you next week.

If you are brave enough to say goodbye, you’ll be rewarded with a new hello!

Wow that sounds complicated with the lesson timetabling. Best of luck with that. Hope Father’s Day wasn’t too tough for you. Appreciate it can’t be the easiest. Went to Stonehenge for the solstice once myself. Luckily the weather was spectacularly good but not the kind of activity you would encourage in the Age of Corona! too many people in too small a space. Hope you have a good week.

Oh, it’s a logistical nightmare. Let’s hope they go back fulltime. It was hard, but it’s one of those things. Really? Was it atmospheric or eerie? I always think it looks like that, but not sure in real life. Hope you have a good week too x

I’ve always wanted to go to Stonehenge too, but never managed it. Now, I’m told it’s not very wheelchair friendly so I guess I missed my chance. virtual viewings are great though and I’m becoming quite addicted. I was at a castle in Germany last week! I hope the kids manage to get some fun in the school holidays, at least you don’t have to worry about home schooling anymore for a while. I do feel so sad for the leavers of both primary and secondary schools. So nice that Tyler got his hoody from school. xx

Tyler looks very happy with his hoodie. Such a shame they didn’t get all the proper leavers’ experiences. It’s good that the schools have organised provisional part-time timetables for when they go back, so the kids are prepared.
Those biscuits look amazing. They might be a Scottish thing, because I’ve never heard of them.
I’m glad Aria didn’t need too much hair cutting off after the chewing gum incident, what a nightmare!
Congratulations to her on passing her gymnastics exam. What an amazing thing to be able to do online. x

I know it’s sad for the kids to have missed out with leaving primary school but I can’t help wondering if life will be a lot easier in the future and less pressure on the kids emotionally and financially on the parents too without all the residentials, hoddies, parties, proms etc. It wasn’t something I did and my kids never talk about Primary school these days, it’s sad to miss out when you’re the only one, but the end of primary school and start of secondary will hold different memories for Tyler. anyway enough of that………
Glad you managed to get the chewing gum removed with minimum hair loss, did the tooth fairy manage to visit. Lucas sounds well organised making his own smoothies, not sure about adding spinach that s a better choice than I would make.
The gluten free goodies for Robert sound good and I love those biscuits with sprinkles, not seen them before so they must be Scottish. Swopping reading with a fellow tweeter sounds a great idea also.
