Lockdown Week 9, Squirrel, Haircuts And Redhead Our Weekly Photos – Week 21

Well, who knew we’d be at the end of week 9, 9, people, of lockdown? And I have to say, I am still liking it. I think it helps being busy and having work, kids school, etc. Or I think they’d be finding it hard. It does have it’s challenging and I miss seeing people the same and being in the office. All in all, I am just grateful we are all safe and well. We have another week before any lockdown restrictions are lifted here in Scotland and it turns out I can play golf in garden centres. Ok, not really, but we can play golf and garden centres will open. So, I figured I’d combine the two. I kill plants and suck at golf, what can possibly go wrong. How are you guys doing? Do you need a virtual hug? I am always here with my listening here and socially distanced arms.

Let’s see what week 9 brought us after our week 8 weekly post. Saturday saw us have our usual break from cooking and we had a takeaway. Aria made some brownies with her brother Tyler. We checked and gave the salt a miss this time. They were lovely and probably all eaten before dinner time came around. All the male members of the household played Fut Champs on Fifa. For those who don’t know what that is, it involves lots of shouting at referees, players who they control via their controllers and this is so unfair grumps. This came at Aria and me from all rooms of the house. We said there would be no more Fut Champs until we can go and stay in a hotel. In all fairness, they weren’t as bad as we thought it would be. Shhh don’t tell the boys or Robert we said that. I did a fair bit of editing and Aria played in the garden. She is right into watching tv shows on Disney Plus, so it’s been good value for money.

Sunday saw our Morrisons delivery, so we have food again. Typically it arrived early just as I sat down to lunch, but it wasn’t too long until I was back at the kitchen table with my bacon sandwich. There was more Fifa. Aria and I watched the first Harry Potter while I did some editing. Robert cut the boys hair and as you can see above, he did a fairly decent job. There were no tears and it looked much neater. Win in my book. Although, now Aria wants hers done. We saw Robert’s mum for a bit and ate some dinner with a glass of Prosecco for us over 18 members of the household. Not the most exciting weekend, but the kids had fun and it was productive on the writing front.

I’ve been struggling to sleep a lot of this week and read a lot. I’ve been awake reading until well after 3 most nights. When I do sleep, it is filled with crazy dreams and hearing screaming that isn’t there. I’m not alone, am I?

Monday it was back to work and it is still so busy especially Mondays. The phone rings nonstop and the kids continue to ask if they can answer it. I’ve not dared to let them yet. The kids did their school work which seems to have changed with the younger two, their school is trying out a different way to help those that are maybe struggling a bit. It wasn’t quite as slick and easy so it’s been a bit of me doing more in terms of printing the work and giving to them and me scanning it and uploading to the school. It took a bit of getting used to and Monday was busy. Tired in the evening.

Tuesday was another busy day with work and school. Lucas has been getting used to and enjoying his new subjects. Got some editing done in the evening. The kids and Robert were having a sad day. It is hard sometimes when you aren’t seeing usual people and lots going on behind the scenes. I did capture a cheeky wee squirrel that was tormenting the cat running along the back fence. He was quite funny.

Middle of the week and the weather started to brighten up to a glorious sunny day. The sunshine certainly makes a difference. It was busy with school work and work work. Poor Lucas was still working well into the evening on his Business Studies and Biology. Robert started up the BBQ after work and we got to have a nice, but chilly meal outside. Food was good as always. I did a behind the scenes agent zoom chat which was interesting and insightful. In the evening Robert, Tyler and I did a 3K walk, while Aria and Lucas following the same route, but did 5k on their bikes. It was a beautiful evening for a walk. I also won a place on a writing rejection course which was cool. It about helping to keep going when you get rejections, how to make your first impressions on the letter, synopsis as good as possible, etc. I snapped the lovely photo above of Aria and check out how many times the tooth fairy has visited since lockdown? Also, Tyler lost a tooth too. Thankfully, the tooth fairy is a keyworker, but she is rapidly running out of coins.

Thursday started off a bit dreich and dull by the afternoon it has brightened into a beautiful sunny day. The windows were open and I could hear the birds sing from my work at the home desk. The children’s laughter carried it’s tinkling tones through the air. It was lovely and the weather certainly makes the lockdown easier in some ways. My mum’s lovely partner came over and cut our grass while I was on a teams call at work, so that was great to see it all nice and cut. Aria’s doll that she has been saving for arrived and it’s a tad creepy, but she loves it and named him Parker. I am sure he will be appearing in photos very soon. Work was busy and the kids were busy with school work. Finishing off all they had outstanding before the holiday weekend. Robert was out in the office doing some work and he has been doing most of the cooking since we’ve been in lockdown, which has been great as I don’t enjoy cooking. I am ok at doing it, but Robert enjoys it and the kids love it as they get to help and have learned loads. Normally, I’m doing it while doing a million other things back in the days of school packed lunches, and bags needing packed. I love to bake, so that’s my thing with the kids. Anyway, I digress, while Robert was out, the kids decided they didn’t want me to make lunch that they’d rather have it once their dad was back. Fair enough for me. So, looks like I get to relax for a bit. I did, however, miss gymnastics trying to figure out a school thing for Aria and forget the time. Ahh well, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad, is it? I have been struggling with my skin and ordered some new products so I am looking forward to them arriving. My boss has been tidying at work and came across my old cv and contract from when I visit started almost 20 years ago. It was strange seeing it after all this time. He sent me through some photos. Especially with my maiden name and my mum’s shop being part of my work experience. We went to visit Robert’s mum in the evening. We came home and I sat down with every intention of editing, but I was so tired and my body felt heavy that I ended up watching some episodes of Greys Anatomy. I’ve not watched any tv myself for ages. The episodes even had two of my favourite actresses from Charmed in it, playing sisters too. It was a welcomed break.

Friday morning I was tired. I hadn’t slept at night and was still reading at 3 am. A busy working day, but no school work for the kids. Not really sure what they got up to during the day. They were playing together and it was cleaning day so they got to work on that. There has been a fair amount of screen time, but the weather is awful. It is blowing a gale and pouring. They did also plant some more sunflower seeds. I’ve not had a lot of free time to do things, so be it. It’s all balanced and doing what we can. I have no real issue. Our holiday got cancelled, but I am glad in a way as it was end of June. Wouldn’t feel comfortable going away just now. I am looking forward to a long weekend off as it’s bank holiday Monday here. I took a picture of Twilight this morning and she is certainly looking like she is ready for the weekend. What do you think?

Do you have any plans? I hope you are well and I wish you a wonderful weekend. Each year, around this time, a little bit of magic happens-grass turns pink with cherry blossom. Isn’t it beautiful? It is starting to fall to like pink snow now. I will be sad to see it go. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

The haircut is very impressive! As for the dreams, I think there have been a lot of people having them and my sleep has been a bit disturbed. it’s all caused by the lockdown (I interviewed a psychotherapist for the blog and he said this was a typical issue people were facing). As for the squirrel, I bet they’re getting more adventurous with the lakc of human activity. And no, we have no plans other than my wife has managed to book a horse riding lesson for a fortnight’s time!

I can’t take the credit for the haircuts, he did a good job. I think there is a lot. That is interesting isn’t it? I think there are a lot of wild animals a bit happier with lockdown. Hope your wife enjoys the horse riding lesson x

Sounds like you, Robert and Lucas are working hard. H is finishing his work early afternoon most days (he starts about 8.30), but he was most put out to have to work to 3.30 to finish something the other day. The haircuts seem to have gone well. It will be a long time without barbers unless people cut their own. Virtual hugs to you too. x

Well done getting the boys hair sorted! We need to do our boys but they say they want to wait for hairdressers to open! I dread to think what it will look like by then. I’ll take one of those virtual hugs please! Sometimes finding it hard to sleep here too, not sure if its just me craving some time to myself so don’t want to go to sleep too early and then time ticks on! x

As your page loaded, I looked at the url and tried to work out what “squirrel haircuts” were ! It makes more sense with a comma ! Well done on the aforementioned hair cuts – it’s always so scary in case it goes horribly wrong so I glad it all went well ! Lovely to hear you got out for a walk and thank goodness the fut champs didn’t end in tears. It’s a shame about your holiday but I’m thinking the same for ours – if they did say we could go, it would still seem very weird.

I would like to see the creepy doll Parker (is that a he or a she?).
Squirrels are a bit of a menace in our garden, they enjoy destroying fruit without actually eating it, so I’m not a fan.
