Lockdown Week 6, Cat Birthday, Pink Blossom And Pink Bunny Our Weekly Photos – Week 18

Pink Bunny

This week I have felt much better than last. It’s been a tough week with highs and lows but all in all, it’s been much better. There is still that guilt of balancing working from home, homeschooling and everything else that is going on in the background, but we can only do the best we can. Isn’t that right? How has your week been? I hope it has been a bit calmer and the sunshine certainly helps.

Since last week’s weekly post we are still on lockdown and groundhog day number whatever. Who is keeping track? We barely know what day of the week it is. Robert is counting the days as working day, bin day, non-work day. That is how the days are being referred to now. I do know we have just completed week 6 of lockdown. And who knew we could all survive being stuck at home pretty much for 6 weeks? But we have and we are all doing our bit. Although, I am sure the kids are trying to make me insane with shouting my name and when I go or ask they say it wasn’t them. Hmmm. Apparently, I’m going mad. Might be the case lol.

The weather was gorgeous last Saturday, so much so that Aria wanted the paddling pool out. Out it came and filled it. Honestly, in Scotland, it was unheard of. A few neighbours kids were out in there’s. Aria misses going out to play with them so much. It is hard as they can all see each and chat in the gardens, but not easy for them to understand why they can’t play together. She played in the paddling pool for quite a while with her swimming dolls and waterproof ones. I spent some time stitching the pink bunny that Aria had wanted and she did some once she came out of the paddling pool. She is making a simple bear. The paddling pool ended up getting ripped, it has done a few years and we don’t really get to use it that often, but it did its purpose. She is doing a great job. The baby shark soap was driving us all nuts in the bathroom, so it swiftly disappeared from the bathroom while Aria was in the paddling pool. Don’t worry, I know soap is still like cold, so I transferred it to another dish. The bathroom is now silent and it is so nice. No more playing Baby Shark if you bump the sink, close the door too fast or just switch the tap on. It was constant. Fun for the first 5,000 times. Anyway, silence is golden. In the evening we had a wee treat takeaway and Robert and I watched some Blacklist and new Killing Eve. I am loving both, but not as much as earlier seasons.

Sunday wasn’t as nice weather-wise. The boys were out doing their football training in the field as part of their daily exercise with Robert.Β  I was sitting doing some editing and noticed the strange trees in the neighbours garden. Now, one hangs over mine and I always capture some of the Hathorn flowers that hangover. This year, all three are bare. Not one leaf, bud, or any form of life in all three. What have they done to those poor trees? Our cherry blossoms are just flowering and I took the photo above from out the front aren’t they beautiful? I just love the colour. I spoke to both of my dad’s brothers in the evening. One isn’t well and in hospital, so it was lovely to hear his voice. And we were all wishing him well for his op the next day. We also celebrated Twilight’s fourth birthday. Can you believe that wee black ball of fluff we brought home is four? She’s still beautiful.

It was back to work and school. We are all working and schooling from our living room. It went better this week and the kids have been getting through their school work. Lucas moves up to S3 next week which is scary. After work, I did some more sewing. It is a much easier hobby to pick up and put down to help the kids rather than editing, writing or blogging. Aria and Tyler planted 18,000 flower seeds in a small planter. We are looking forward to seeing how these grow, thanks, John. Then, the rain arrived and it rained for quite a few days this week. I spent the evening worrying about my Uncle in surgery and didn’t sleep well wondering with the time difference.

Tuesday morning, I was tried but got some good news, so it’s just recovery and rest now. There was no gymnastics for Aria this week as her teacher couldn’t make it. She did her own form of learning to do the splits she has been working on after schoolwork. I managed to sneak an Iceland slot for tomorrow and got some ice lollies. The kids did some papercrafts while we finished up work. I spoke to my cousin in the evening which was nice.

I got up super early Wednesday for the Iceland delivery, which a lot wasn’t delivered, before work. I watched an episode of Greys Anatomy before the phones started to ring. It was strange being downstairs on my own for a bit. I feel I should do this more often. Apart from that, it was work, school work, kids doing activities outside and I joined in with the splits training.

Thursday was an odd day mood-wise. Not great in the writing side and it was a busy working day. I watched Aria play outside for a bit with her dolls she’d made them a house. The boys were playing Fifa and I had a wee glass of wine in the evening. It was nice to see the neighbours out clapping for our keyworkers and it gets louder every week.

I am glad it’s Friday, ready for the weekend of non-working and catching up and playing with the kids without the worry of the phones ringing. The kids helped with the cleaning and played well together. Went out for a wee walk in the evening and all in all, it was a good day.

Friday was also the day we finished Pink Bunny. Pink Bunny is a character from Aria’s favourite book series Isadora Moon. This is the first time I have followed a pattern and sewn pretty much anything. It took me a while to do, but we did it together Aria learning to sew as well. And here we have Pink Bunny. What do you think? Aria is happy and even his limbs are moveable. It was actually a really nice thing to do. We will both treasure her I am sure.

Musings for the week. Musical soap is not a good idea, ever. Keeping up with the neighbours garden light display is not worth spending money on when your boys kick footballs around the garden at a force that will smash everyone.

In Japanese culture, the cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. Isn’t it beautiful? Hugs for the week.

I love the way you’re describing the days. There was a graphic I saw on twitter saying “It’s Blursday the forty-teenth of Mapril.” Just sums up the way we are presently living, right? Anyway, glad you had some good news regarding your health. As for paddlin gpools, I filled ours up for the kids. Did they use it? No. Not once.

Aw a very happy 4th birthday to Twilight, where an earth has the time gone. I love the pink bunny you made for Aria, and what a shame about the paddling pool, but like you said it has served it’s purpose. Hope you have a lovely week ahead x

I totally get where your husband is at with the days of the week, I keep calling it groundhog day as they all merge into one. I love the bunny! We did think about getting the paddling pool out a few weeks ago but decided the dog would probably chew it as she chews anything! I’m glad that you are managing ok, it is a funny old time!

Absolutely agree with you about working from home – you have to do it but you still feel bad about ignoring the kids, especially when a lot of the population are not working and having loads of great adventures with their kids. Give it time and I bet they won’t even remember it though ! (She says, hoping it’s true !) Funny you mentioned losing track of the days. I know I have to go to a meeting at work on Tuesday and I keep looking at the calendar trying to work out what day it is ! I’m panicking that I’ll end up missing it ! lol. LOVE the pink bunny – lovely you worked on it together too. Definitely one to treasure πŸ™‚

The true reality of working/home schooling from home, all stuck in one room, all the people they interview on tv appear to have masses of space and dont seem all squashed up. No wonder it is hard. I am glad to still be going to work, a bit of away from home time and seeing other people brightens my week up, despite where i work.
Pink bunny is amazing, and moving limbs to, I am well impressed.

I’m so glad you’re feeling a bit better this week. I can’t imagine how challenging it must be to have five of you working in the same place every day. We all work in different rooms! Well, the boys aren’t working, but they are still in separate rooms. It seems like yesterday you got Twilight, I can’t believe she’s four already. You have done a fantastic job of the pink bunny. It must have been lovely for Aria to have the paddling pool out. x

I can’t believe Twilight is four – I remember you sharing photos when he was a tiny kitten on your Sunday photos and it really doesn’t seem like that was four years ago. #project366
