Unicorn Horn Treats

How are you all doing? Have you had a good week since we chatted at last week’s weekly post? I’ve not taken as many photos this week and it’s been a busy one. Plus, I need to remember I’ve still not done the two little kids birthday posts. I am so late. I need to get on that.

Last Friday was a school and workday. I picked the first two up and then to get the third one. We went and picked up some paint and a new lamp for the living room. I love the lamp it’s white with the light inside and has a silhouette of bare tree branches on the outside. I didn’t paint however, I think I’m still working my way up to it. In the evening Tyler went ice-skating to the disco and had a great time.

Saturday we had swimming and I did a fair about of reading. Then we went over to Robert’s parent’s house in the evening and met up with the rest of his family and his cousins that were up visiting from England. It was a lovely evening filled with food, laughter and lots of chatting about the past. The kids loved having the extra time with their cousins as always. Sunday Robert and Lucas had a football match. With the weather being so changeable and wet, I didn’t think it would go ahead. We didn’t go watch as it was an away game and I had a shopping delivery order arriving. Aria was so tired from being up late the night before. We all were, to be honest. I was still awake at 4 am reading A Thorne of Swans. It’s sooooo good. Do check it out if you like YA fantasy. Aria, Tyler and I made some unicorn horn treats while the other two were out. They were easy to make treat while we were tired, but tasted good. What do you think? Lucas ended up very sick in the evening poor wee soul. He had a tough time of it. Aria and I skipped gymnastics for an early night.

I was a tired girl in the morning I finished A Throne of Swans late the night before and cried my wee heart out. Plus, it was Monday morning and Lucas had been so poorly the night before. He was off school and my mum had him. He stayed in his bed wee soul. The weather was awful, rain, wind, hail and sleet. I was desperate to get home from work as it was a long day and I wanted to check up on the kids. My mum’s cat wasn’t very well either. It felt like an eternity. Home time and Lucas was feeling much better. However, Robert still had to go coach in the freezing rain. Three layers of dripping wet coats and the bibs for me to wash later. Our house was now full of astroturf pellets. Have you told you how much those things grate on my life? They are everywhere. I am sure they breed. I sweep the floors at least 6 times a day and they still appear. I’m pretty sure they are going to take over the world or I’ll lose my marbles whatever comes first. I have even considered getting astroturf fitted indoors. That way the black pellets would help it. Ok, rant over, well for now or until the Astro pellet monster gets me.

Tuesday was another day with Lucas off and Aria ended up getting sent home from school. No-one likes to get a call at work from the school. Thankfully she was fine. They thought the infection she had on her chin was something else and said she couldn’t be at school. She has had antibiotic cream for a week before Tuesday and it was looking so much better wee soul and was fine to be at school. I left work early to get her and took her to the doctors just to confirm all was fine. It was, but I was just concerned. She got a wee Peter Rabbit and he kept her company. I took the boys for a wee quick hair cut before heading home to make dinner. All in a days job of chasing your tail.

Aria was her wee smiley self when I posted the photo above. Not the best photo, but it captures her gappy smile and how her eyes light up when she is happy.

I kept Aria off Wednesday. Beat the street started in our area, which is a brilliant initiative to get kids and adults out and about. They get keyfobs and cards from school and libraries, etc and there are boxes that they activate via the card on lampposts throughout the town. We get a map and you get a few months to gather as many points as you can for your chosen team. The little kids, especially Aria are very excited. You see a whole line of them at the school lamppost to swipe their keyfobs before going into school. Do you have anything like that in your area? So she and my mum walked about a few with the dog while she was off. Tyler had a football tournament with the school and didn’t have the best day. He played well but gets so emotional and passionate about it. He burst into tears. I am so proud of this boy, he gives everything his all and won the fair play award for the team, but he was gutted not to win all his games. I posted this picture of him and told him how proud I am and how he includes everyone and give it his all. He is a wee sweetheart. Don’t get me wrong he has his moments and can wind everyone up in a second, but he’s an awesome kid.

Thursday and Aria went back to school. Lucas was back and Tyler had some cross country training. He is picked to represent the school with the fastest time, so he is looking forward to that next week. The weather today was awful, sun, hail, wind, rain, snow and all sorts. Football training was cancelled due to the weather and I don’t think Robert could take the fourth night in a row getting soaked and cold. It was another long and tough day at work. It’s been hard going this week and so busy. Spent some time watching football with the boys before I headed to bed to read. Aria was watching some tv. It was national love your pet day, so I couldn’t not post a picture of my beloved Twilight, could I? She is a very regal kitty cat.

Friday, we made it. It’s a short workday for me and the kids are all in school. This evening I have a black-tie ball and as much as I feel guilty my mum and her partner are watching the kids while we are there. It’s a work thing, so I wasn’t going to go, but it’s a good excuse to get dolled up, isn’t it? I promise I’ll post some pictures next week. There you have it, the week that was.

What about you? Do you have any plans? project-365-2017-badge

That’s a busy enough week for sure! I didn’t realise about the pellets from the astroturf. My ex used to have plastic pitches (he was a groundsman), but his had sand thank heavens, so I never suffered the same.

How lovely for the kids to spend time with their cousins. Those unicorn horns look amazing. Sorry to hear that Lucas was sick though, glad he is now feeling better. I can imagine the astroturf pellets are a nightmare to keep cleaning up. I’ve not come across anything like Beat the Street near here but it sounds like a great idea. Well done to Tyler on being picked to represent the school in cross-country. #project366

I’ve seen pics from your black tie event on Insta, you looked very glamorous. Aria is such a cutie. A shame school sent her home.
I haven’t heard of The throne of swans and googled it, I do read quite a bit of children’s/YA fiction, but fantasy as genre sometimes defeats me. We’re reading Frostheart with Eddie right now, and though he loves it, I struggle with it, to be honest.

Aww thank you. I know, but these things happen. It’s such a good book. It’s not too high fantasy, but good. Oh that a good one too xx

What a week for you all! I’m glad everyone is back to full health now. I know exactly what you mean about the astroturf pellets – they seem to appear from nowhere about two minutes after the hoovering is done. Well done to Tyler for giving his all in the football match. It’s hard when they give it all, but don’t manage a win.
