I’ve hardly taken any pictures this week and the ones I have featured above were all taken last Saturday at Aria’s party. It has been a busy and long week. How has your week been since we left last week weekly post?
I left you with last Friday and it was a short working day. Home to pick up the kids and then the boys wanted to purchase a few things. Tyler wanted a mattress topper for with his birthday money. He’s some boy. He is such a tactile little soul and he is loving life with a new duvet, duvet cover and now mattress topper. Oh and tv in his room. The boys aren’t really big tv watchers, but when their Uncle put up on the family WhatsApp about a tv going, Ty was the first one on. We let him go with it, wondering A, where he was putting it and B, how he was going to watch any channels with it not being a smart tv or Freeview built it. Once it arrived, after watching for a while about how he was fitting this giant tv into his bottom bunk, we stepped in to give him a hand. Now, both boys benefit from a gifted tv. The rest of Friday evening was all about party prep for Aria’s first little party and me trying not to stress. I went for some classic 80’s kid party food like sausage rolls, crispy cakes and some top hats. Turns out after spending some time on twitter, top hats, may have been a Scottish 80’s party food. So do let me know if you knew what they are before I tell you. They are marshmallows with melted chocolate and a smartie on top.
Saturday was a dreich day and Aria was very excited about her party. I was blowing up balloons and setting them up as you can see above. But first, we had her swimming lesson. She has only been going since November and she got moved up to early swimmers, she is loving it and swimming underwater without the water aids. We couldn’t be prouder. The boys of the house were playing Fifa, all being in Fut Champs, if anyone knows what that is, I think it involves lots of shouting at the tv and almost smashing controllers off the wall. Might just be my house, but I practically had to cut the internet off before the party guests arrived. Aria’s cousins came over to help at the party. Aria has never had a party before as she is so shy, so we had a little party with just a couple of school friends so she’d feel comfortable and it was at home. Anyway, the sparkle stars lady came and the kids had a great time and then there was food and cake. I love the photo above of Aria getting her cake. She had a gorgeous unicorn dress my mum bought her and she loved getting glitter on her face. Fun was had, a stressed me, trying to cut cake and find kids jackets when their parents came. By the evening I wasn’t worth a button.
Oh, I also watched Dracula, finally. It was really good. Have you seen it? The BBC drama one. A wee trip into Glasgow on Sunday for Build a Bear voucher spending for Aria. She got a lovely little rabbit called Sophie with a snow scent, which smells a bit minty, but nice. She also got a little puppy called Simba. Both have wee outfits and Simba has his lead. She was delighted with her purchases and they have gone everywhere since. Lunch and I went to my Glasgow Children’s Writing Group meet up. It was lovely to catch up with so many wonderful writers and illustrators and meet some new members of the group. We wrote down some goals for the year so we’d be accountable and fingers crossed we get them done. Home for gymnastics and football.
Monday Lucas was loaded with the cold and burning up. He had the day off school to get better. I had such a long day at work. Tired when I got home and I’ve had a really sore jaw and a load of ulcers all week so I’m feeling very sorry for myself.
Tuesday, Lucas was back to school and I did school hours to do the school runs and catch up on homework. I did get a new desk at work so that was nice. I’ve been off social media a lot in the evenings to try to get the editing done.
Wednesday I had Tyler and Aria feeling poorly and they were both miserable and off school. Thankfully my mum watched them and they were feeling better in the evening. It’s been a mix of football, long working days and editing in the evening. I’ve still not been feeling great so it’s not been ideal, to be honest, but it’s just my mouth so I’ve ate and drunk best I can.
Tyler and I have been watching The Masked singer. And watched some when Lucas was at football with his dad. It’s not really my thing, but he’s enjoyed it. The weather has been truly awful and the amount of soaking wet football bibs, jackets, etc that have been coming in the house is crazy. Jackets so wet that I’m having to put towels underneath to catch the drips. Other than that it’s been more editing, the school for the kids and long, long working days for me. Lots going on at work, so it’s been busy.
Now we are at Friday again. I could be doing with some downtime. I need a wee bit of breathing space, but Tyler has a match this evening against a team from the town I grew up in, so that could be interesting. Work was a bit sad as one of my engineers is leaving. Other than that, it’s good to be at the weekend. Hope you have a great weekend. What are you up to?
That sounds like a busy and tiring week! I’m glad the party went well. The photos are beautiful. I only know what top hats are from seeing them on your social media in a previous year!
I hope your mouth is feeling better and the kids are all recovered now.
My kids have TVs in their bedrooms. My eldest watches his every day, my daughter watches hers once or twice a week when nobody will let her watch her programmes downstairs and my younger son never watches his at all!x
It was a busy and tiring week. Thank you. I assumed top hats were a normal thing. My mouth is much better thank you. I don’t think kids watch as much tv as we did xx
She looks so lovely with her dress and glitter on her face. Glad she had a good time. I’ve not heard of the BBC Dracula either, will have to have a look
#sundaysnapshot
Aww thank you. It is a good adaptation of it. xx
Hope you get some downtime. H has a TV in the room he plays Xbox in, but he just uses it for gaming. Looks like you have had lots of birthday fun. Well done to Aria on the swimming.
Thank you. Ours have the tv’s up the loft for gaming. Thanks, she’s doing well x
Wow, such a busy week. I’m tired just reading it ! The party sounds like it was a great success – the photos are lovely and the dress is really pretty. I’d never heard of top hats but they sound lovely. Oh and I had to go and look up what dreich meant too ! lol 😉 The ulcers sound like your body is telling you to chill out and take some time just for you – you’re running around like a mad thing, give yourself a nice break ! xx
lol just the way it is sometimes. It was good. I thought everyone did. Sorry, dreich is just rubbish weather. Maybe, I hope things will calm xx
Aria is looking adorable! Love that unicorn dress. And well done on her swimming.
I am yet to watch Dracula!
Aww than you. It is really good x
Happy birthday to Aria. It looks like she had a wonderful party! I do love her dress. How pretty! x
Thank you. It is a nice dress xx
Awwww she looks beautiful, happy birthday X #mysundaysnapshot
Thank you x
Hope you’re all feeling back on form again, and the editing progresses. Aria looks love in her dress.
Thank you. All much better. She loves the dress x
Ahhhh gorgeous photos. Love the balloons. Happy birthday to Aria.
Dracula is amazing. I have started watching it. I love it.
Thank you so much for linking up with #SilentSunday xx
Thank you. I liked the balloons too. It’s such a good show xx
I didn’t know what top hats were so glad you explained it! Glad Aria enjoyed her party but I can imagine it was exhausting for you! Sorry to hear that everyone has been poorly and hope you are all better now. Ulcers are such horrible things – I often get them when I’m stressed. #project366
She did enjoy it. Thank you. They are all good. I am not sure to be honest x
I hope those ulcers are clearing up, that’s not good at all and means you are run down! Look after yourself first missus xx
Aww thanks hon. I will get there xx
I am so glad she enjoyed her birthday party. I know another little girl that would rock that unicorn dress, I love it and that gappy smile is so cute as well.
Glad you still enjoying writing and editing the book, hopefully not much longer now…..maybe you can then give up your day job and become the next JK Rowling!!! – you never know.
She did. Aww I bet she would. Just from H&M. She has lost so many teeth. I doubt it, I am sure it sucks, but yes you never know. Thnak you x
I hope Aria had a lovely birthday, sounds like another action packed week #366
Thank you x
Beautiful birthday photos! I haven’t heard of top hats, but from your description it’s something my boys would love. Sorry too hear your guys were poorly, hope they are fine now. Eddie and I tried to watch The masked singer, but quickly got bored with it. For some reason we just didn’t like it at all.
Aww thank you. They are really easy to make too. YOu should give them a go xx
It sounds like she had such a lovely party – I hope she had a wonderful birthday! I had to google ‘dreich day’ – never heard it before!
She had a lovely time. Oh I forget that it’s a Scottish word xx
Sounds a lovely week but tiring. Love Aria’s unicorn dress and her sparkly face paints, glad she enjoyed herself with the party and how nice to have her cousins to help.
It was a lovely week. Thank you, she loves the dress xx
Looks like she had a lovely birthday and was very happy. Some lovely pics
I watched one episode of Dracula then stopped. I think I am a bit of a purist and found it too different to other versions based on the book. I am weird, I know. #project365
She had a lovely time. It is very different to the book, but I quite liked the different version. Not weird at all, I am like that with a lot of book to tv or films xx
Adorable daughter as always! I love the unicorn dress and good of you to invite people according to her comfort level to help her socialise easily
Aww, thank you. She had a lovely time xx
