Dinosaur Crafts For Kids

13th December 2019 By Susan Mann 5 Comments

Dinosaur Crafts

Now, we have created lots of different crafts over the years and many are up on the blog, but this is a completely new subject for us. This months theme is dinosaurs. It’s not a craft I’ve ever done before, so we thought long and hard about this one and decided to concentrate on just one craft. Do check out what we created below as part of this months theme for Tots 100 #BostickBlogger craft.

Dinosaur Crafts For Kids – Flying Dinosaur

Dinosaur Crafts Items

What you’ll need:-

  • Bostik PVA Glue
  • Bostik Foam Pads
  • Toilet Roll Tube
  • Googly Eyes
  • Elastic or string to hang
  • Paper for covering the tube or paint
  • Cardboard
  • Bostik Glitter Glue

Add the body for the dinosaur

Step 1

Get your toilet roll tube. We cut out the paper before covering the tube in the paper to make the dinosaur body.

Body Covered

Step 2

Cover the toilet roll tube and use Bostik PVA glue to seal the dinosaur body.

Cut out dinosaur features

Step 3

We thought the purple cardboard would go well with the green and black colouring. You want to cut out the wings, tail and face.

Cut out face

Step 4

First, we cut out a face. It can be any style you want. This is what we went for.

Cut out tail

Step 5

Next, we created and cut out a tail. Again, it can be any shape and style you want.

Cut out wings

Step 6

The last thing we cut out was the wings. You want to add on an extra rectangle style shape at the bottom of the wings so you can bend that part and stick that onto the body so that they stick out as if it’s flying.

Use Bostik Glitter Pens for face

Step 7

We just love these Bostik Glitter Glue. If you like glitter, use these to add some sparkle without the mess of glitter. They do take a bit longer to try though if you make it quite thick. We used these to create our dinosaur face.

Dinosaur Face

Step 8

We used the glitter glue to make the smile and eyes on both sides of the dinosaur letting it dry on each side.

Add eyes

Step 9

Next, we added googly eyes.

Add on items

Step 10

We added on the items using Bostik Foam Pads, but first, we made two holes in the top of the body so that we can add in the elastic. The one we put in has the bits that spit to secure it into place. But string or anything like that would do.

Add on elastic

Step 11

Once the elastic is on, it will look similar to above. We then added the tail onto the dinosaur.

Add on wings

Step 12

Add on the wings to the body. You can see that we bent the rectangle part at the bottom and stuck that part onto the body.

Add items to dinosaur

Step 13

Last part is adding on the face. We used Bostik Foam pads for this.

Dinosaur flying

Step 14

Check that your little dinosaur flies. You can even create a whole family of them.

Dinosaur Crafts

Here you have our flying dinosaur. What do you think? Little Miss named him Nessie. As good a name as any. We are loving this new dinosaur craft. So what do you think about our craft? We’d love to know if you make them. Send us your photos or post them on social media.

Hi Susan, Have you come across a company called Everything Dinosaur? They are brilliant! as well as being an online retailer, they run school paleontology workshops etc. On the educational section of their site, there are a load of free downloadable dinosaur-related resources (Colouring, quizzes etc.)
You can find them here – https://school.everythingdinosaur.com/downloads/downloads-ks1ks2/

Just thought it may be of interest to you.

Love the blog. Keep up the good work 🙂
