Unicorns, Toys And Christmas Treats Our Weekly Photos – Week 46

Christmas Treats

I haven’t been in the best place mood-wise this week. I’ve felt really overwhelmed and low. I’ve been snappy and bursting into tears and generally not feeling like myself. I felt I was the worst mum and wife ever last weekend and was just horrible. I didn’t even want to be near myself never mind anyone else. I cried big ugly face tears after I’d upset the kids by snapping at them. I know they are ok and understand that sometimes things get a bit much and they certainly know it’s ok to cry and be upset by things. And sometimes these are things you have no idea what it is about. And Robert has been great too. Things have gotten on top of me and I haven’t been able to see over the long grass. I stepped back from social media as I tend to do when I don’t have anything positive to say. I am hoping things will improve this week. Lots have been going on behind my little online world, but I know I won’t feel this way forever and hopefully next week I’ll be a bit brighter. I just don’t like when I don’t feel like my usual self. I try to see the positives and goodness in everything, it will be back soon.

I have been doing lots of editing and my book is starting to shape up and might be getting much closer to submitting to agents. Fingers crossed that it is in the not too distant future. So, how has your week been since I left you with last week’s weekly post?

Last weekend Tyler had football on Saturday morning, I nipped to see it for 5 minutes before heading to take Aria swimming. After that, we went for some lunch and then to the shopping centre for a haircut for Lucas and another contact lens teaching session. Everyone is a step closer. I got a writing magazine to read and Lucas went to his friend’s party in the evening. It is really strange seeing him all grown up and off to discos. I am so proud of him, always. As I am all of the kids. Robert and I chilled with some dinner and tv while the younger two played some Fifa. Aria had some fun being a unicorn too. She does have the look down.

I treated myself to some of the gingerbread biscuits above. These were biscuits I loved getting at Christmas time when I was a child. I used to stay with my Nana and Papa a lot and my Nana would buy me these. I loved them. The sweetness of the white icing against the spiciness of the gingerbread inside. I know that a few shops sell similar with chocolate or heaven forbid horrid dark chocolate, sorry to dark chocolate fans, but it’s the devil’s work. I cannot think of a worse treat. Anyway, I tracked these down and they were just like I remembered. I was chuffed to bits to get them.

Sunday was another football match and boy it was chilly. We have had some thick frost here this week, so much so, the inside windows of my car were frozen. We watched most of Lucas game. Robert had a few wobbles this week, he’s got a lot going on too. The boys went to football and Aria, her friend and I went to gymnastics. We played with some toys too and I captured the photo of Aria above with her dolls. I love watching and listening to kids play imaginative play and I just love this photo. She is really nurturing to her baby dolls.

Monday was a long day at work, it’s been a busy week. I have been tired too, but not sleeping great. Aria, Tyler and I read some stories before bed while Robert and Lucas were freezing their fingers and toes off at training. I have been reading a chapter a night of my book to them. Helps in lots of ways to read aloud for errors, grammar, etc and to see if they understand it or would change bits.

Tuesday I worked school hours and I picked up Aria and we went for a wee treat before picking up the boy from school. I was at a Parent Council meeting at the school in the evening working out the school Christmas fayre, etc. Then spoke to a lovely friend of mine, we’ve been best friends since we were about 2.

Another long day at work and school come Wednesday. Homework, training, work, work and work and all that jazz. Reading bedtime stories at the end of the day does improve the day immensely. Tyler played in a football tournament and was

Thursday, one day closer to the weekend and football training was cancelled due to the freezing weather. I painted Aria’s nails in the evening when the boys went football boot shopping. And we booked to go see Frozen next weekend. Aria was super excited. Lucas got his interim report card and second year seems to be going really well for him. Well as much as you can tell from these tick and number report sheets.

I am glad we are back to Friday. I worked school hours and did the school drop off and pick up. I do like doing these. I took Lucas to another contact lens teaching session and heard all about Tyler’s high school gym day he was at today. I still can’t believe he is in his transition year to high school. This weekend there are football matches for the boys, swimming and gymnastics for Aria. I am hoping to fit in some editing and maybe a Christmas film. Oh, yeah, start Christmas and birthday shopping. And hopefully, some time to relax.

What have you been up to?

ooh I love a Christmas film. I’ve had quite a few on this week. Sounds like things are going well for Lucas at school. I love spiced biscuits (including the chocolate ones), but I don’t like the ones with apricot in so have to pick and choose. Hopefully this week is better for you.

Sorry you’re feeling like that Susan. I got like that too, a couple of years ago and I had counselling. It really helped me to put a lot of stuff that was bumbling under the surface in its rightful cabinet in my brain. Hehe.

Sounds like the kids are doing really well and enjoy all their activities. I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been so low and not sleeping well won’t help either. I love that type of gingerbread also, although I don’t mind a bit of dark chocolate it wouldn’t be for me on the biscuits

Sorry to hear you had a bad week, Susan, and hope things are looking a bit brighter now. I think it’s really sensible to step back from social media when you’re not feeling great, I do this too, and I do think it helps. Oh, exciting about the book, and that you are getting ready to approach agents. Wishing every success for you. I’m at about the same stage with my own book and hoping to have final edits done by the end of the year. xx

what a shame you are feeling so low and tearful, I feel myself the same lately, snapping and barking at hubby and bursting into tears for no good reason.
    Aria is adorable, as always.
What a lovely idea to read the book to the children, they will know all about it before it is published. Take it is a childrens book then?

Sorry to hear the life has been difficult for you recently, and that you’ve been feeling low and tearful. Hope your mood improves. Lol @ the dark chocolate hatred. You and the person who left the first comment are just weird ladies, sorry. πŸ™‚ Dark chocolate is the best. But I do like plain gingerbread cookies too. My favourites though are filled with apricot jam and covered in dark chocolate. Sorry, not sorry. πŸ™‚
