Owleez – The Interactive Flying Owl – Review

26th September 2019 By Susan Mann 18 Comments

Owleez - The Interactive Flying Owl

We are big owl fans in our house. Who wouldn’t be? We are big fans of Harry Potter of course. But, a pink owl, how cool is that? Not only is it pink, but it actually flies, yes, really? We absolutely in love with the  Owleez – The Interactive Flying Owl. Find out why.

Owleez Owl

In the box, you will get your adorable pink Owleez, a berry food accessory, a next and instructions. It is an interactive toy, so you have to see what she wants and she responds to your touch.

Colours

The Owleez eyes change colour to respond to your touch or what it wants. There is a great little guide in the box which has them all simply broken down. You can feed her, pet her and even play games. She will sing and dance for you too. How cool is that?

Charging Owleez

Before you start playing with Owleez you want to charge her. To do so, you want to unravel her charging cable which is underneath her nest. I love that it is attached to her and you don’t have to search the house for a missing cable. It hooks around the little clips underneath and away you go. The cable plugs into a USB style plug or socket. It doesn’t take long to charge and the eyes are red when charging and they change to green when complete.

Looking after

Once Owleez is charged you can teach her first flight. There is also a very simple how-to guide for when it’s time for her to take her first flight. I think flying is the best big about Owleez and it flies far better than any other product I’ve come across. She flies for a maximum of 10 seconds, which is actually quite long.

Getting ready to take flight

To get Owleeze to fly, you need to wait until her eyes are white and hold it in your hands while moving it up and down. The Owleez will start to say wee and then make a trumpet sound. Once this happens her eyes turn a rainbow colour. Next, put her back into her nest and stand well back. The instructions say to keep at least 5 foot away from any obstacles, but it is a sturdy thing, so don’t worry too much if it crashes.

Getting ready to fly

How Owleez flies is that she opens up with propellers that come out and she begins to take off. It is impressive and looks really good.

Owleez Flying

And off she flies! Isn’t it so cool? Honestly, I am well impressed by this, never mind the kids. It is amazing to watch her fly. There is nothing you need to control, just step back and watch. You shouldn’t try and push the head down it will close on it’s. The Owleez can be a bit sad after crashing and you may have to comfort it by patting it on the head. comforting it afterwards.

Talking to Owleez

Flying isn’t all  Owleez does, to be woken up, you press the little button above the on-off switch. Their eyes change to let you know whether it needs fed, comforted, burped or a various different thing like that.

Petting Owleez

When she is sad, better her on the head helps and it is so sweet that Aria did this so gently. When she needs to be fed, you give her the berry and she makes little eating noises. Tickling her belly will result in the cutest little giggling sounds.

Eye Colour

We had lots of fun playing the game that comes built into Owleez, this one is called catch the colour game. You hold her back until a tinkling noise is heard, the eyes will light up a colour and you have to remember which one. She then sings while going through all the different colours. When she reaches the one you remember, pat her head. If it is right, she will be excited and happy, if wrong she will be sad. It is a lot of fun and a great little extra.

Burping

We absolutely love Oweleez Interactive Flying Owl everything about it. The interactive part is great for those who look after little pets. It is available from Smyths Toys and other toy retailers at a cost of £49.99. It is quite expensive, but with everything it does and how sturdy she is, I think it is good value and worth it. We have had toys in the past that fly and break. We haven’t had one issue after loads of flights. It is aimed at kids aged 6 and above. Aria is 6 and worked it all fine herself. She needed a little help with the instruction at first. All in all, we think this is a great toy and doesn’t need batteries. It charges and doesn’t take long to begin from out that box. I think this will be top of a lot of Christmas list this year and enjoy lots of flying, interactive fun.

Toys are so clever these days – I’d be worried about it flying behind the sofa though 😀

I have two and neither will fly despite following the instructions. The head will only open a fraction then red angry eyes. Does it take ages to train to fly?

We are having trouble getting it to fly. It starts to but then seems to catch it wing on something as it takes off then crashes almost immediately. What can we do?

Make sure it’s charged & it’s not open before you start. It needs room to fly. Hope that helps.

Have you left it to charge for a while? It can take a few hours to charge. Then it has to make the whee noise before ready to fly.

Really… this is a toy for ages 6 and over. I’m almost 50 and had a great time playing with this along with my niece and 3 nephews. Once we got it to fly it was amazing! After the first flight, we got it to fly 4 more times then had to charge. The flight is the COOLEST thing!!!

Seeing my niece get so excited to see it flying was awesome. Nothing to be afraid of. Maybe you need to channel your inner kid and lighten up a bit. It’s a pink plastic owl with puffy wings – really??
