Looking for things to do over the summer? Why not try out our ladybird craft? It’s simple and easy to make with our step by step instructions. We’d love to see if you gave it a go, so do send us your pictures here or on social media. We made this as part of this month’s theme for Tots 100 #BostickBlogger craft which was summer.
Summer Crafts For Kids – Ladybird
What you’ll need:-
- Bostik Blu Stick
- Red Card
- Black Card
- Paper Plate
- Split Pin
- Scissors
- Googly Eyes
- Pipe Cleaners
Step 1
Fold the card in half and draw a semi-circle on the red card.
Step 2
Cut out the semi-circle.
Step 3
Next, you want to cut out a head shape for the ladybird.
Step 4
We made ours look a bit like this. But it’s up to you.
Step 5
Next, you want to stick on some googly eyes using Bostik Blu Stick.
Step 6
It started to take the shape of the ladybird head.
Step 7
Using some of the leftover black cardboard we put it onto the plate as the ladybird’s body. We stuck it on using the Bostik Blu Stick. It’s great for little hands and the fact it’s blue you can see where it goes.
Step 8
You can’t have a ladybird without spots, can you? We cut out six spots for our ladybird. How many will you choose?
Step 9
We then stuck the spots onto the ladybird wings.
Step 10
Stick them onto both wings.
Step 11
When both wings are ready, we added them to the body and used a split pin so we could have movement in the wings.
Step 12
Split pin opens at the back to secure. We added it at the top and it’s a simple way to bring crafts to life.
Step 13
It is starting to take shape.
Step 14
Next up, make Ladybird Antenna. We did these by curling pipe cleaners around our fingers. Take them off carefully and they will look like this.
Step 15
Using your bostik blu stick, stick on the head and the antennae to the ladybird body.
Step 16
And here we have our fabulous Ladybird Craft. We were really pleased how well it turned out. We plan to have a look in the garden for some other insects we can create in a similar way. A bee perhaps. We’d love to know if you make this craft and what animal you go with.
Disclaimer:- We were sent a box of craft materials & Bostik Blu Stick from Craft Merrily as part of being a Tots100 #BostikBlogger, but quite a few we already had in the house.
