I really don’t know where this week has gone and I’ve hardly posted or taken a photo since last week’s weekly photos post. There are a few things going on behind the scenes which have kept us occupied, but I think the lack of photos has been down to the horrid weather we have been having. How has the weather been where you live? Here it’s been rain, rain, rain and more rain. Plus it’s been really cold. Dull, grey days, don’t make for the pretty skies I like to take photos of.
Last weekend the boys went ice-skating with their friends on a Friday night. It was the first time Tyler has done this, but he is now in his last year of primary, albeit one of the youngest in his class. He had great fun at the disco, although would like ice-skating lessons. As a parent you are always worried about them, but it’s a public place and you are dropping them off and picking them up, so it’s not as bad. For now anyway. It makes for quite a late night as it doesn’t finish until 10. Thankfully, Tyler’s football was called off, although sad it was due to the weather when, let’s face it, it’s still summer. The grass parks were waterlogged. We had a lazy Saturday morning and went out for some bike shopping to have a look at what size would fit Aria. She is always out on her bike and it’s starting to break. Plus, she has grown so much recently. We didn’t find any she liked, but have a better idea of size. Aria has really missed going out to play with the weather being so rubbish. She plays outside with her friends from the street all the time, but it has just been too wet, even for the Queen of splashing in puddles herself. She doesn’t mind the rain, but it’s been torrential. So, she had a wee friend into play for a bit. Robert and I got caught up on Blacklist together on Saturday night. It was good to sit down for a bit together.
Sunday, Lucas football match was still on as it was on astroturf. Aria, Tyler and I went along to cheer the team on. There were quite a few injuries on during the match and the score was not a good one, but they played their best and Lucas always has a smile. Robert, not so much. Tyler went to his first elite centre training session and loved it while Aria and I went to gymnastics. I obviously didn’t do any gymnastics, but I did show her my shoulder stand. That’s about as far as I’m going. She has a gymnastics mat in the living room and she loves it. She and Tyler are forever trying to do backflips, walk overs, etc.
Monday morning and it was back to work and school. A long day on Monday and I was glad to get to the end of the day. Lucas did two lots of football training and had been at the gym doing running before school. You can imagine how tired he come the end of the day.
I’ve not gotten much writing done this week, I have done some editing and feel it’s getting somewhere. I have another month of editing course again in September, so that will allow for another chunk to be critiqued. I know it seems like I have been doing it forever, but my spare time is limited. Plus, it is all going in the right direction.
Tuesday and I was working school hours so I could drop the little two off at school, head to work, do work, leave and pick up the little two. You can see she is ready to go with her curly hair and a pretty unicorn jacket above. I really wish they made these jackets for adults. She sometimes likes to get her hair plaited when wet so it goes curly the next day. It suits her to have a bit of bounce. Off to school, she went. Then deal with Aria and the drama of a water bottle, yes, there were many tears. It was resolved with the purchase of a new one, lots of smiles and then we picked up Lucas from school before heading home for dinner and homework before I took Lucas and Aria to table tennis. I got some editing done for half an hour while Aria learned the table tennis skills. She loves it and they are so good with her too. Lucas is doing really well and I said in on the last 3/4 of an hour to watch them.
One of the things I love about blogging and twitter has been the wonderful friends I have made both online and in real life. Since I’ve been writing, I have met so many lovely fellow aspiring authors too. It is a supportive community and there are many organisations I am a member of and writing group to meet in real life too. One of them being the lovely Emma who sent me the gorgeous notebook and mug to cheer me up after a bit of a difficult time. Aren’t they gorgeous? I actually cried when I received them. It was so thoughtful and such a nice surprise. Thank you, Emma. One day, both our books will be on that classics mug.
Another long day on Wednesday and I wasn’t feeling very well. I’ve got some pain under my arms, stomach and just not feeling great. I am thinking it’s my kidney’s playing up as they do with my kidney disease but fingers crossed it’s just a wee bug. I had an early night on Wednesday evening after reading Aria many bedtime stories.
Thursday was a busy one at work. It was a bit of a whirlwind day. Another pouring, wet and grey day. I caught up with my Mum and her partner for a bit when I got home from work before making some cakes in the picture above. You can’t beat a wee fairy cake. Football training was cancelled due to the gale-force winds and horizontal rain. The boys decided to have it in the living room, nope I was not happy at that.
Friday is here and we are expecting a heatwave. It is dry and that is all I am going for. I hope to see some nice skies or maybe a wee sunset over the weekend. We have a few things planned and two football matches. What are your plans for the weekend? Here’s hoping we all get some sunshine to make us all feel a little bit brighter.
What a busy week you’ve had! The weather sounds dreadful, you really don’t expect football matches to be called off at this time of year. Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well. I hope you are feeling better now.
The mug is absolutely lovely! What a thoughtful present.
The weather has been awful. I know, crazy. I am ok, thank you. It was lovely xx
your eldest makes me exhausted reading about him, envy the energy of the young.
Does she come home looking as neat and tidy. Totally agree the jacket is lovely.
What a great mug for somebody like you
Oh he does so much. I do too, I wish I had half that. No she certainly doesn’t the boys do though. I love the jacket. Thank you x
I hope you are having a sunny weekend. I love how active your kids are, they make my three look like sloths. Still that might be changing as they all want to go swimming regularly and the Little Man has taken up cricket! Fingers crossed. I’m sorry you’ve not been well, I do hope it’s not your kidneys 🙁 I was admiring your mug and notebook, what a lovely friend, and what lovely gifts. I love Aria’s cupcakes and her unicorn jacket. x
The weather hasn’t been great. They are so active, unlike me. Thanks hon. It is a nice mug xx
Do you never have a calm week? You’re always so busy 😊
I am loving the mug and what a kind thought to send it to you. Hope you’re feeling better now
X
This is them calm. It has been worse. Thank you xx
Hi Susan, how you have any spare time I don’t know! Baby steps are often the best way to go… My gymnastic skills go as far as a rolly poley – downhill is my speciality (much to my children’s embarrassment when they were younger)… Cake can make the worst days seem good. I hope you are feeling better now and that the better weather stays with you for a while.
xx
Well, I just have to fit things in when I can. Lol that is about mine too. Cake always helps xx
Sounds like an other busy week. I do love her raincoat, wish they did them in adult size.
#mysundayphoto
I with they did it like that too xx
The weather hasn’t been to bad here thankfully! It sounds like you’ve had such a busy week. So sorry you were feeling unwell. Gorgeous photos! Aria’s cakes look very yummy! x
Enjoy the nice weather. Thanks hon. They were yummy x
Hope you got some sun. It’s been boiling here – way too hot for me this weekend and even N hasn’t enjoyed it – he usually isn’t too bothered by the heat.
The online community can be great can’t it. If you meet the right people and avoid the duds.
I hope we get some more sunshine. This is true lovely x
I hope you are feeling better now love and it was just a ‘moment’ as opposed to something further with your kidneys xx Sounds like you have had a busy time, despite the weather – thankfully the sun has been shining this weekend!
What a lovely surprise, that notebook is gorgeous – Emma is a good’un! x
You were one of the very first bloggers I ever met and even now I get excited knowing you will be at the same event – hopefully we will get to meet up again soon chick!xx Sim
Thak you lovely. Glad you have had some sunshine. She is a goodun, just like you, lovely. I hope we get to meet up soon xx
I used to plait my hair when it was wet to have a very curly look the next day. PIty about the pitches – it has been really strange the weather with lots of rain and then a heat wave.
Mine never stayed wavy, but A’s is great. It is strange weather x
We’ve been baking crumbles this week. It’s nice baking with children #ordinarymoments
That sounds lovely. I don’t think I’ve ever made one x
I feel you with the energy, it is cuase they suck out all the parents energy hehe X #mysundaysnapshot
It is crazy xx
I have felt very BLURGH lately – exhausted by the amount of talking my daughter does and moaning my son does 🙂
Did you get your heatwave?
Thanks for joining in with #SilentSunday x
Sorry to hear that hon. I hope things got better. No heatwave here xx
I don’t think I knew about your kidney issues – I hope you’re ok. Those gifts are beautiful! x
Thanks lovely. It’s just part of me xx
I hope the heatwave has made up for that awful weather. Its all over the place and such a disappointment at the weekends and school holidays. I hope you are feeling better. Such a thoughtful present.
I hope you enjoyed the sunshine. Thank you x
Gosh the kids are back at school already, that’s quick! We don’t go back until next Wednesday. As for the weather here, it’s been pretty dismal, though we had a bit of a heatwave but nothing in comparison to down south.
Your little ladies unicorn coat is awesome, may I ask where it is from? Thanks for sharing and for linking up with #mysundaysnapshot.
We finish up end of June. I love that coat too. It’s from Peacocks xx
Good job, Aria, baking these fairy cakes! Fab mug for a book lover, and a lovely story behind it.
Your week sounds so busy, hope it was a bit more relaxing the next one.
They are nice. It is a lovely mug. Thank you x
Oh does sound like the weather has been horrible for you!
Those fairy cakes look fab! Been meaning to bake with Bee but haven’t got round to it these holidays.
Football training in the living room! I wouldn’t have been happy either!
The weather has been rubbish. They have been fun to make. Football training in the living room drives me nuts x
We’re on the back to school countdown in our house this week – I cannot wait! #MySundaySnapshot
I hope back to school has gone well x
I’m struggling with photos also, yes there are blue skies here but it’s too hot to go out, all i have are pictures of the cat and dog or my dinner lol. The fairy cakes look fab, I always forget you go back to school earlier in Scotland
I hope the weather has cooled down a bit. Yeah, we finish up earlier too x
Ice skating sounds fun. It’s no problem letting him learn. It seems to have rained heavily in a lot of places for people in project 365.
The pictures of your daughter are lovely (totally digging her hair :D)
What type of work do you edit? It’s true. Blogging has open my eyes to a whole new world of different kind of people that I’d never met before.
I love the mug!! It’s so creative!
It is great fun. I think the weather has been a bit crazy. Thak you xx
I love that mug, what an amazing gift – that’s so pretty. I always used to make those cupcake mixes with the kids, they always really loved it 🙂
It is a nice gift. It makes it a little different xx
