What an eventful week this has been. After I typed my weekly photos post last week, we ended up with a trip to A&E. Tyler was having fun outside playing on his little sister’s bike, he fell off, which would have been fine, but Lucas was racing him and crashed into him when he fell. His wheel ran over Tyler’s head. Cue lots of hysterical screaming, that was just Lucas who hadn’t even been hurt. Tyler was shaking like a leaf gripping on to a branch in a strong wind. We got him checked over and thankfully, nothing was broken. He had a huge lump at the side of his head, a bloody elbow, knee, bruise at the front of his head you can see above, but the problem was he had a gaping hole in the back of his head with blood oozing its way down his neck. A wee trip to minor injuries, some glue, a few hugs and no concussion later, we were good to head home. It was the first time that any of the kids have been really hurt and required a hospital visit so that was good going but explains the reaction given. Aria, well… she is going through a “phase” shall we say? She was screaming that Tyler had broken her bike. He didn’t, but she was adamant. Turned out he broke the reflector. Yes, the reflector, the one she would never need as she is 6 and not allowed out in the dark! Anyway, all was good in the end. With the exception of a very bruised Tyler on Saturday morning.
After an eventful Friday, we chilled on Saturday morning. I went into Glasgow to the GOMA museum for my Glasgow writing group. It is always lovely to meet up with everyone, hear how they are doing and I got some really helpful and insightful feedback on my work. I am really grateful to the group. In the evening Robert was out with some friends and the kids and I watched some tv together. Aria and I watched Spy Kids while her brothers played some Fifa. Once she was in bed, Tyler and I watched some Netflix, we enjoyed Family Reunion together and chilled for a bit.
Sunday was saw Aria, Tyler and I do some rollerskating. It is just at Glasgow Intu Braehead for the summer. If you are close by, I’d recommend a visit. It was so much fun. I hadn’t roller skated in years and I used to love it back in the ’80s. Aria and Tyler enjoyed it, but Robert and Lucas couldn’t even stand. We didn’t stay too long as I was wary of Tyler’s head. We hope to go back next week before it ends.
Then, came Monday morning. Back to work and the boys had Football camp. Tyler had a great week there. Lucas enjoyed it too. Aria was enjoying her break from the boys it seemed. On Tuesday, after we dropped the boys at football we headed down to the shopping centre. We got our hair cut. I got a lot cut off mine, but it needed it. My health recently has really taken its toll on my hair and it felt horrible. Don’t even get me started on my skin, it’s all red, sore and covered in spots. My hair felt great and I spoke to the hairdresser lady about my issues and treated myself to some new products to help. Then, we got our nails painted. Aria has always wanted to have them done. We rarely get any one on one time that we can do these things since she started school. It was a wee treat and she loved them as you can see above. She picked the colours for both of us. What do you think? I also bought some stuff to help my skin. Coming home we had a lovely day, but I felt so guilty about spending the money on myself. I know I shouldn’t, but I couldn’t help it. I did feel better with my hair and hopefully, the skin will improve. Anyway, what do you think?
Wednesday and Thursday were back to work. It was so hot in the office and I was out at a few clients both days. I have struggled with work a lot recently, but Aria enjoyed being spoiled by her Gran and Granpa and playing with her cousins and their new wee puppy. She ended up grounded for the first time ever for not coming in and running away. Phase right? The boys enjoyed football and were both at training in the evening too. Thursday, was Robert’s nephews birthday and we headed to Robert’s sister’s to have some birthday dinner and a delicious cake to celebrate.
I was glad we got to Friday, although I’d had such a busy few days I hadn’t finished all the work I needed to do and had loads of blog stuff to catch up with too. Aria was playing outside most of the day, so I managed to make a small dent. The boys got to meet a football legend and came home on a high with signed shirts and boots. Aria is still going through a being horrible to everyone phase, here’s hoping it’s the heat and tiredness, right?
Robert and I are both off next week so it’s the start of our holidays. We aren’t going away, but doing some fun things like Go Karting, skating, cinema, etc. Things we want to do with the kids on their last full week of the summer holidays. It has flown by. They have three days off left, by the time we go back to work. I need to get the uniforms sorted too. I think I have most of it but need to do the stamping of the names, hanging up, etc. I’m looking forward to a nice week off. Hopefully, fit in some editing, yes, editing now of my novel.
How has your week been? Are summer holidays going well?
Poor Tyler! That does sound horrible, glad he was OK. Your hair looks lovely, sorry to hear your health issues have been affecting your skin too (you can’t see it in the photo though!). Sorry to hear Aria is going through a naughty phase. My niece, who is exactly the same age, has been going through one of those for her entire life! Fingers crossed A comes through it soon. Your school holidays really have flown by! x
He was ok. Hoping it heals up soon. Thank you lovely. Aria is doing a bit better xx
Oh my goodness, poor Tyler. It’s so horrid when your child gets hurt, but you’ve done incredibly well so far, if this is your first trip to A&E. I’m glad he’s doing okay. I think your hair looks great and so do yours and Aria’s nails.
Enjoy your week off.
It really is, but to be honest, I think we did well to get that fair. Thank you lovely xx
Glad Tyler is Ok and he was able to attend football camp, poor Lucas sounded shocked also. Love yours and Aria’s nails and the roller skating looked fun
Lucas was in a terrible state about it and so upset. Rollerskating was such fun xx
Oh gosh! What a nasty accident. I’m glad both the boys were OK after a trip to hospital. It sounds like quite the scare for everyone.
The roller skating sounds like fun.
I love yours and Aria’s nails. So cute.
Oh gosh! The last week of the school holidays already for you, that has flown over. Have a great week x
He got a fright that is for sure, but much better now. Thank you. I love our nails. It has flown by xx
Oh my, the accident sounds nasty. Glad to hear that there was no concussion, but that bump on the head looks big, poor Tyler.
Rollerskates are fun, I imagine. Sorry to hear that your hair and skin are being affected (you can see from the photos).
Aria’s challenging behaviour must be a concern for you. It’s difficult to say if it’s a short phase, or just her being the younger girl in the family trying to establish her position?
Me too, it was a sore one. It was all cut at that back too. Rollerskating was so much fun. That you. Aria is getting there xx
Sounds like a very eventful week for you! Glad your son was okay after his accident.
Cait @ Of Needles and Noodles
He was, thank goodness xx
Your hair looks fab, really suits you. I used to love roller skating too. Would love to try it again with N, although he was never keen to try when he was younger. He might now though.
Hope Tyler’s bumps are getting better now.
Aww thank you. I am getting used to it. You should give it a go. You’d love it xx
Beautiful photos. Hair looks lush 🙂
I love roller skating but I am not very good at it. haha. xx
Aww thank you. I bet you were xx
The poor lad! Glad he wasn’t concussed. Those nail colours are very summery #ordinarymoments
He is much better, thank you xx
Lovely haircuts!!! But that is one hell of a bump, poor kid. Horrid when they hurt themselves. #silentsunday
Thank you. The back of it was all cut open too xx
poor Tyler, sorry to hear that Aria has been challenging #365
They are both much better, thank you x
Glad Tyler is ok, and must have given Lucas a fright. You have done well to get them to that age without a visit to A&E before. My lot were regular visitors for a number of years. We were recognised when we walked in we had been that often.
I know DD1 still feels guilty for squirting DS2 with a super soaker when she was 11, and he was 6, and to avoid getting squirted he jumped backwards off the curb and got hit by a car, nobodies fault, accidents happen but she still has nightmares about it. He got up and walked away.
Nice to get some one on one time with Aria. Love her nail colour. Oh dear at her behaviour, who knows why they decide to be little monsters for a while.
He is ok, it really did give him a fright. They haven’t been out on their bikes much since. Aww bless. Goodness, that must have been scary. Glad he was ok though xxx
It really was the week for bike accidents, but it was also the month for broken arms, so I’m so pleased you missed out on that – we didn’t. Hahaha.
You and your daughter are such a beautiful pair, you really are 🙂
Oh goodness, I hope all is ok. Aww you are the sweetest xx
Pretty nails, poor Tyler, never nice when kids get hurt. Hope you are enjoying your week off now.
Aww thank you. They did enjoy the rest of their time off xx
I hope Tyler is feeling better! What a shiner he has. I had my nails done with A before we came away and it was lovely – so nice having a girly day x
He is much better. It was the back that has been cut open. Thankfully he is ok xx
What a horrible accident. It sounds like quite a shock. Hopefully it’s the last time you see the inside of A&E. Lovely that you treated yourself. You do deserve it. I had a lot cut of my hair a couple of month’s ago and I am still swishing my hair. It is a great feeling. Fingers crossed that the products help your skin. Enjoy your last few days of the school holiday. #wotw
I am hoping it is the last time also. It was a nice lilttle treat. Thank you. It is getting there xx
Gosh that does sounds like a busy week! Poor old Tyler, that sounded quite nasty. I was forever in A&E when the boys were younger, and not so long ago come to think of it. Oh dear, I hope Aria’s phase soon passes, I do think the summer holidays can take their toll and sometimes the kids are better when they are in school and back in a routine. I love the hair and nails, I think I should do that with my daughter
Thankfully he is ok and managed football. I am glad we haven’t been there much. She is better now she is back to school. You should defintiely do that x
Oh my gosh , poor little tikes on their bikes! Accidents happen though and I’m so glad everyone is ok. Thanks for sharing your lovely haircuts and the super snaps with #MySundaySnapshot.
He is doing ok, thank goodness x
