Well, it’s been a while since we last chatted. In fact, it was the first time in goodness knows how many years that I didn’t post a Sunday weekly update or a silent Sunday picture. In fact, it might be about 7 or 8 years. I even posted one after I gave birth to my youngest. It wasn’t intentional. We were on holiday in Eyemouth and then to Wales, by the time we drove home last Saturday it was late, there were suitcases to empty and tired, hungry kids. I decided to give myself a break and not rush the post just for what? It’s not like the kids are going to even notice there was one week in however many years I missed one day, are they? I hope that when they come to read my blog for themselves, they will be proud and pleased to have the legacy of memories on the page. I think I’ve drolled on enough now and I hope you are still with me. So, here I am combining the last two weeks into one post, I hope that I ok since I left you with a few weeks ago weekly photos. How have you been? Here’s what we have been up to.
The Friday the schools finished up Robert and I had the day off. We packed up our cases and picked the kids up from school as they were finishing early. We travelled a couple of hours down to Eyemouth, which is close to the Scottish Border on the east side of the country. It was a lovely sunny day. We went and bought a few essentials and some dinner before heading home for the caravan for the evening. Before we did anything though, we checked out the local beach and seaside view. How stunning is that in the top photo? You’d never think we were still in Scotland. Practically tropical. Plus, it might be my new favourite photo.
We spent the weekend in and around Eyemouth, staying at the caravan. The park was amazing and Aria loved having a swing park right out the front of the caravan. We visited museums, ate ice-cream, went crabbing in the rock pools, visited a honey farm and so much more. I will do a separate post on our weekend next week, so watch out for that. We had a wonderful time together and it was a great start to the summer holidays.
Come Monday, we packed up our first part of the holiday and travelled across to the West side of the country and travelled through three countries in the one day from Scotland, through England and onto our final destination of North Wales. I have never been to Wales before and we were excited to be going. We had rented a lovely 4-bed cottage with an indoor pool and tennis court for the week. We had a bit of a nightmare when we got lost up a Welsh hill on a road, that I am pretty sure cars shouldn’t drive in a new car and pretty sure my husband would have divorced me briefly for a few minutes. Looking back now, it still wasn’t funny, but we got there in the end. Check out my Instagram for photos of the cottage and the amazing grounds it was within. The pool was amazing and the kids spent a lot of time in there. A pool isn’t really my thing, but I went in a few times. Robert spent most of the time with them in there. They loved having both of us about.
We did some shopping on Tuesday, the boys bought themselves, trainers, tracksuits and Aria bought some lovely tops and leggings. Boy does that girl like to shop. They had some holiday money from Grandparents and money saved from birthdays, so they had some fun buying treats. We spent time in the pool and had a fun day.
Wednesday we made the car journey to Liverpool. The boys and Robert went to the Liverpool stadium tour while Aria and I spent some time at the Albert Docks. It was a beautiful day and we all had a great time. Aria and I ate rainbow ice-creams, went on a carousel, visited the Maritime museum, learning about their part in the Titanic, saw amazing art at the Tate museum using our giant magnifying glass and watched some barges go along the river.
Thursday was a bit of a slower day, we made daisy chains, played tennis, swam in the pool and I went to a great witch shop and bought a new ring and fortune cards. As well as a quote was written on a love heart for a friend. For our last day in Wales, we went to Snowdonia National Park. Aria wasn’t feeling great and had been having pains in her tummy. We went on a lovely little steam train around the hills. What stunning views and a beautiful place to visit.
Saturday morning came way too quickly and it was time to travel home. We stopped a Gretna on the way back as we always do. Wales will definitely hold a special place in our hearts and the wonderful memories made. We loved the house, the tennis and pool especially. The views around the cottage and lake were breathtaking and we will definitely be back.
As I said we were tired and cases to empty so Saturday evening was a takeaway and an earlyish night. Sunday it was about getting the washing done, the kids played outside with friends they’d missed and the food shopping had to be done. The boys went to the outdoor skate park and had lots of fun with their scooters. Thankfully, we weren’t back to work on Monday morning.
Monday was the start of a new week and Tyler was starting Rangers Football Camp. He has been training with them one evening a week, but wanted to do the full week camp. It was long days form 9:30-4:30 of constant football and learning. He’s loved it so much, learned loads and came home completely exhausted which I’ve never seen before. Worth every penny though. Lucas has started going to the gym with his Dad super early before work so he’s enjoyed that challenge. Aria and I created some crafts I will blog about this week too on Monday.
Tuesday saw Robert back to work and my final day off. I took Lucas and Aria to the library to sign up for the summer reading challenge. They have done it for years and it’s a great way to get kids reading over the summer months and interested in new books. We also watched Aladdin, which was brilliant. Have you seen it? Wednesday and Thursday were long and busy days at work for me. My Mum had the kids one day and Robert’s parents the other. Tyler has been at football camp so just the other two.
Friday, I am off work and have a few bits and pieces to catch up with. Kids are out playing and I need to nip up to work too. No big plans this weekend, think we could do with some downtime although I am already thinking about decorating and garden work that keeps plaguing me from the writing I need to finish. What plans do you have for the weekend?
Evenings have been busy too. I have been wanting to get my novel re-write finished and I am almost there. I have a few pages just and it’s done. I have signed up to an editing month with an editor so have been working on the first few chapters as I’d like to enter it into a competition closing this weekend. So fingers crossed I can get it done.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
It sounds like you all had a wonderful holiday and the photos are beautiful. Tyler must have learned so much in a week at football camp – what a fantastic experience for him. Lucas is very young to be going to the gym! My husband keeps talking about my younger son starting – especially while he can’t do sport, but we’re not a gym kind of family, so I’m not sure if that will happen.
Thank you. We had a great holiday. Tyler learned loads and loved it. Lucas is doing cardio style stuff rather than weights or anything like that. Mainly running and leg work xx
Sounds like you have had a wonderful start to the holiday’s – Eliza can shop too – must be a girl thing!!
I think it might be, the boys aren’t so keen x
Such lovely pictures this week and the boys seem to be getting really big now. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Wales. Seems strange that you’ve never been before and I’m about to go for the 4th time this year, but I guess that’s all about geography. Glad Tyler is enjoying his football camp so much.
They are getting big and changing a lot. We had a lovely time. I know, I think because I thought it was so far down. He loved it x
You’ve been really busy! I love walking round Liverpool Docks. Wales and Scotland are beautiful too #ordinarymoments

Loving the ice cream and magnifying glass images! That also, by the way, sounds like an epic road trip…..and I’m used to driving from Southern England to Scotland. Seems like you had a good break and why rush that blog post if you don’t have to?
It is one of my faves too. We had a great time. Wow that is far. The is true x
Lovely photos, looks like you are embracing summer X #mysundaysnapshot

It sounds like you crammed so much into your holiday and enjoyed it all.
Thank you. It was a lovely time xx
glad you enjoyed your holiday, though you may need another to recover, sounds like it was busy and fun.
Have heard the Rangers football school advertised on the radio, glad he got so much out of it despite the level he already plays at
I did thank you. It was good. He really did enjoy it xx
Sounds like a lovely break and you fitted loads in too. I would love to visit a honey farm as I have always wanted my own hive. The rainbow ice creams are immense. We were lucky enough to visit North Wales earlier in the year and had a fleeting drive through Snowdonia. It is definitely somewhere we would like to visit again, the train journey sounds great. Nice that you didnt have to go back to work straight away.
It was a nice week. If you are in the area I would recommend the honey farm xx
That’s what you call a proper ice cream – hope she enjoyed it! #MySundaySnapshot
I had one too, it was sooooo good x
Happy holidays! It sounds as if you are having a great time – I love the idea of visiting a witch shop and buying fortune cards. I too read tarot and love doing so – it’s not often you see ‘new age’ shops these days! Thanks for linking up and for sharing your snaps with the #MySundaySnapshot blog linky!
It was really nice. No, you don’t and I love going into them too x
I’m glad we’re not the only ones who go full steam ahead through the holidays – you have been BUSY. And you’re right, they won’t notice you missed a week. You were making memories instead of recording them x
Absolutely, thank you lovely x
Sounds like you an amazing trip.
We went to scotland and North Wales last summer and loved it!
It was a really good trip. I do love Scotland x
