Football, Pancakes And World Book Day Our Weekly Photos – Week 10

9th March 2019 By Susan Mann 42 Comments

World Book Day

Football

Pancakes
Pretty Sky

So how have things been since I left you after last week’s weekly post? Last weekend we had a lot of football. I know we normally have a lot of football, but it felt like a lot of football. Tyler had two games, a total of 80 minutes of play on Saturday. Aria and I went to watch the games. They played their socks off. Winning 1 games and losing the other.  Frustrating, but they loved it either way. I captured the photo of Tyler on his way to football. Robert is coaching a beginner team for that age, so he was at that game with Lucas giving him a hand. He enjoys helping his Dad with the younger kids. It took until about 4pm for me to thaw out, by that time it was Saturday evening. Robert and I had a nice wee take-away and I had a passion-fruit martini. Out of a can into a glass, but it was nice. We started watching The Umberella Academy on Netflix, only two episodes in, but I enjoyed it. I’m not really a super hero fan, which people find odd, since I’m a big fantasy fan, but I’m more of a vampire, witch kind of fan.

Sunday morning, was another early start. Lucas football match this time at the same pitch from the day before. It was a good game, they played well, but unfortunately, they didn’t win. Another afternoon of thawing out and then I stiched on Aria’s gymnastic badge to her new leotard. She was very excited and supervised the whole thing. Thankfully, she gave the nod of approvement once it was on. Speaking of sewing, Lucas came home with a fantastic cusion he made in home economics at school. We were very impressed. The evening saw Aria and her wee bestie loving life and going to gymnastics in their new leotards with badges.

One of the funniest things of the week has been that Tyler has convinced Aria the “magic” word is “Tyler is the best”. It is so funny when she has to say it. How he managed it, I don’t know, but it did make me laugh.

Monday, was a busy and long day at work. It’s always good to get home on a Monday. The evening saw two of the kids not feeling great while Robert and Lucas were at training. I captured a beautiful coloured sky, the one above on Monday. I do love to look out for the pretty big of the sky.

Waking up on Tuesday morning, Tyler had a killer sore throat and was feeling very sorry for himself. Aria was in tears with a sore stomach and Robert’s ME has flared up. I took Lucas to the bus stop for school before deciding what to do about school and work. Both little kids stayed off. I had to nip into work as it was my school hours day and had a few things to do. I hate leaving the kids when poorly, but I’d set them up on the sofa with make shift beds, given medicine and lots of hugs. My Mum came to the rescue and watched them for a few hours and I came home early. Picking up Lucas. Both kids were a bit better, but Tyler still wasn’t great. He didn’t even go to football which is unheard of. Since it was pancake day, we had to have pancakes for dinner. Everyone enjoyed them and you can’t beat it. I used my pancake recipe and even make them gluten free for Robert. We didn’t flip the pancakes due to Aria and Tyler feeling poorly, so we left that for Wednesday. Lucas went to table tennis which he is enjoying and the fact he goes with a friend is good too.

Aria was feeling better on Wednesday morning and went off to school. Tyler was still not great and chalk white, so he had a day on the sofa at his Gran and Grandpas. I think all the cross country and football took it’s toll on him last week. He did extra homework and the great online resources schools have now, meaning he didn’t miss out. You can’t have too many pancakes can you? We did the pancake flipping and Aria, of course picked the biggest pan. As you can see in the photo, she struggled to lift it.

Thursday, everyone was back to work and school. Robert’s ME has been bad and he really strugged at work. The pain he is in, is quite severe. In the evening I took Lucas to 121 training, Tyler to football and back for them both. Normally Robert does one as he’s coaching, but he is struggling and needs the rest.

Robert took the day off work Friday to rest. I have some time off to write and catch up. The kids are at school and feeling better which is good. We are looking forward to the weekend. The two younger ones had world book day at school, Friday and dressed up. Aria has Twilight Sparkles from My Little Pony and Tyler as his favourite football Dybala. Both had their books and had a fun day.

Trying to work on my re-write as much as I can, time is precious, but no one else is going to do it for me. I was also talking to a work colleague about his reading, he is reading a book for every year he has been born. I thought this was fantastic and I loved reading through the list he’s read and what he has rated them. This is something I’d love to do, not right now, but think it’s great. I am such a slow reader, meaning I should probably have started a decade a go. He’s chose the book, so it’s something he thinks he’ll enjoy. Looking at the list of books published for that year and picking one. What do you think?

I hope you are all well and have a good weekend. What are you up to?project-365-2017-badge

Sorry to hear that the kids and Robert haven’t been well this week. Glad to hear the kids were better in time to dress up for World Book Day. That certainly looks like a very heavy pan, but Aria looks very happy with it!
What a great idea to read a book for every year of your life. I get through about 35 books a year, but as I’m 45 that challenge would still take a very long time! x

You’ve got me thinking now, I’m going to check out what books were popular at special points in my life. When I saw Aria with that pan I did wonder how on earth she would manage to flip it. I bought a new pan for pancakes this year and it’s only 8 inches, but so easy to flip and no-one noticed that the pancakes where a little smaller.
I hope everyone is feeling much better now and that you are all having a nice weekend xx

No sure if I’ve already commented, I did write one but managed to hit the wrong button and I don’t know what happened? If you get two, please don’t think I’ve lost the plot (I have but we’ll keep that quiet for now!)
I hope everyone is feeling better now xx

I watched The Umberella Academy in a few days. It’s such a good show. I hope the 2nd series isn’t too long away.

I ended up making pancakes for everyone at 9pm on Tuesday by the time everyone was back in the house. Madness isn’t it how busy we get? I hope Robert is getting plenty of rest as I know it takes quite a time to get over a ME flare up as my friend has it.

Love the idea of reading a book from every year since I was born, but I’m a stop and go reader, sometimes I’m always with a book, then I can go 6 months without picking one up. I really do miss my touchline days as a football mum, but then I look at this weather and marvel why you’re doing it lol. Sorry to hear about your husband’s health and the the kids not being well, hope all picks up soon

oh dear at all the illness and Robert’s flair up, life sounds like it has been hard this week.
Laughing at the magic words, brilliant how younger siblings hang on every word the oldre ones tell them.
What else would world book day be in your house except a football strip???
The take away sounds very deserved

Sorry to hear your husbands ME has flared up, I hope the restful Friday helped? Plus that the kids have been unwell too, I can only just about manage the juggling act when they are well. When they are ill it all goes to pot. I hope that you got a lot done on your rewrite. Love the idea of the book for every year. It would be really interesting looking back and seeing how things have changed. Although that would mean I would have a book list of 40 books to read now!
