Ice Bubbles, School And Pretty Skies Our Weekly Photos – Week 6

9th February 2019 By Susan Mann 40 Comments

Pink Sky

Sky on fire

Little Red Head

So, how has your week been? Have you had a good one? It’s been quite a bit of a rollercoaster since I left you last week with last week’s weekly post. The weekend saw Robert being away in Amsterdam for a stag weekend, so it was just me and the kids. We ate full of gluten food, lol, like KFC since it’s things we like, but Robert can’t ever have so it was guilt free. We didn’t go out much, but instead, we played with lots of toys, did some crafts and built lots of Gravitrax. We had a movie night on Saturday night which was great. All three kids watched and enjoyed. It was nice to be able to do that as oldest has never really enjoyed films and wouldn’t sit through them. Also on Saturday night, we blew some bubbles so I could take some pictures of them freezing. It was a lot of fun, but the problem was it was so dark and my outside light didn’t work. It was also so cold at -7 that we couldn’t stay out too long. The picture above was my first, but not the best. I hoped to do it again in the morning, but it warmed up. What do you think? Have you tried to freeze bubbles? I hope to get some more pictures again soon.

Lucas played some Fifa tournament while Tyler kept me company at gymnastics. Boy, the lights at gymnastics are a killer for my migraines, I really need to remember my migraine glasses and feel comfortable wearing them. I’m still so self-conscious about it. I need to get over it. Robert had a good time and stayed up to watch the Superbowl when he got home. He does that every year as he used to play American Football and still enjoys watching it.

The kids and I went off to school and work while Robert had a long lie. Monday night there was a beautiful pink sky in the evening which I was able to capture. It’s always nice to catch a nice sky at the start of the week. Football training was back in the evening after the icy, snowy weather of last week.

Tuesday was a bit of a strange and super busy day. I captured the most amazing sunrise. What a stunning sunrise it was. It looks like the sky was on fire, doesn’t it? I didn’t have time to post it on Instagram until Wednesday though. I went to work and the kids to school. I was doing school hours, but it’s always difficult to get out of work on time. I picked up Aria, then Lucas, then back for Tyler before Lucas, Robert and I headed to high school for our first ever high school parents evening. There were lots of teachers to see with a timetable of one every 10 minutes. A booklet to tell us where to find the teachers. Lucas was very anxious about Tech and Art, thinking he’d get a bad report in both. He came in with us to see the teachers and it did him a lot of good as well as us to hear what the teachers were saying. He did us proud with lots of a pleasure to teach, lovely polite boy, excelling at his work, and the likes being said about him. He just needs to work on his neatness and layout of his writing. We explained about tech and art as did his teachers that there is no wrong way, but as long as he tried his best, we couldn’t ask for any more. We came away proud of Lucas and he was happier too. It’s difficult to tell how they are really getting on with high school as it’s so different from primary, but for now, all is good.

I headed straight to parent council for the meeting where I’m secretary and I have to say, but the time I got home around 9, I was knackered, starving and ready for a drink. It was an emotional and draining day.

I still felt knackered on Wednesday and it was work and school. Long days and Thursday was the same. Football in the evenings and bedtime reading with Aria is my favourite time of the day with her.

I was back at the doctors today, Friday, where I have my migraine medication doubled and a change in two weeks where I need to take it in the morning. Quite a few tablets now and I will need to see how it goes. My moods aren’t great, but the migraines aren’t as severe most of the time. Time will tell for now I am just knackered and drained. Writing-wise, I am plodding away and will keep at it.  This will be my year to get it done and feel like it’s ready. I hope!

It’s Friday and Aria is ready for another weekend of playing with toys. Well, she told me this in the above picture when she came home from school. Straight into PJs as she was soaked. Goodness, the weather has been horrid today.

So, what are your plans for the weekend?

Well done to Lucas for his parents’ evening! After three kids, I just tell my daughter (the last one doing the whole curriculum) that subjects like tech and food tech don’t matter. She’s no good at them, she’s not interested in them and has no intention of doing them at GCSE. As long as she tries hard and does well at the academic subjects, that’s all that matters.
    Those skies are amazing.
I really hope the change to your medication helps you. x

glad Robert enjoyed his weekend and sounds like the rest of you did to. I cannot sit through a film either, do not have the concentration.
Stunning sun rise, certainly does look like it is on fire.
Well done to Lucas for making you proud at parents night, I always said it was not their level of work but their effort and behaviour that ,mattered more to me. DS2 drove us mad when he was in 6th year but apart from that my lot were always ok.
I am going to try bubbles next time it freezes here

What an interesting week u had and the pictures you took are absolutely beautiful, especially the frozen bubble and true that the sky looks like its on fire! I wonder how it must be like to live in -7 degrees or lower temperature. Where i live, atmost it goes down to -2 sometimes.
I enjoyed going to parent teacher meetings. I would make my parents go when i was little so that they knew how well I was doing in school. It was very exciting. Glad to know Lucas had a great time.
Ur daughter looks so adorable and beautiful! 😁
As for me, I had a hectic but good week 😁

The pink sky is amazing! I don’t think I have ever sky quite like it! Parents evening at secondary school is quite a challenge. When we first went all the teachers were running late and then some went home before we had the chance to see them! Good to hear he is doing well.

Those bubbles are incredible! As much as you love eaten food with gluten in I think it’s lovely that you all eat gluten free the rest of the time – I am sure a lot of families have two seperate meals to accommodate everyone so it’s lovely that you’ve embraced it as a family x

Thank you. I am kind of looking forward to it getting that cold again to give it another go. We do that most of the time. We do substitute two lots of pasta as it becomes expensive for both, but the rest of the time it’s always something that is gluten free x

We’ve never tried making bubbles in the snow, and now I’m all eager to try, but most likely we’ll have to wait until next winter now. The ice bubble looks amazing, and so does the dramatic sky. Such fab colours.
