Well… here we are on Tyler’s 10th birthday. My baby boy is 10. Goodness, it is such a cliche, but it does feel like yesterday I was in the hospital going through hell which ended in an emergency crash section where I couldn’t hold my baby for 24 hours, but he was worth it. And here he is 10 years later. Not only are we celebrating Tyler’s birthday, but it is also my blog’s 9th birthday. How cool is that? The first ever post I wrote was on Tyler’s first birthday was Tyler’s birth story. You can have a wee read at the bottom if you like. So, happy birthday Tyler and happy birthday blog. I would like to thank you all for reading and for all the friendships I’ve made over the last 9 years.
Tyler is my second born and very different from the other two. He’s such a kind, sweet boy, who looks out for everyone, but also make everyone laugh every day. He has a wicked sense of humour, is more than clued up on life and so mature for his age. He understands emotions and things that are going on around him. He is the one who notices if I’ve had a bad day or a little down and asks me how I a and gives me a hug. He is a great brother too. He is patient and helps both his siblings if they need something or they too are having a hard time. He is there to listen, hug or helping them across the road if they have fallen. Asking why people are cruel and say nasty things, he doesn’t get why people can’t be nice to each other. Don’t get me wrong, he’s no angel and gets himself into a fair amount of trouble with his cheeky chappy bravado.
Tyler loves clothes and is very particular in what he wears. Being very tactile he loves clothes that are either soft or tight fitting. He has his own style and his own way, it’s just the way he is. He also dyed his hair more blonde over the summer. It was just one of those wash in ones, but then got a spray he used. He loved it. Thought it was the coolest. He’s let it grow out now but is planning on getting it back.
Tyler, as I said is a great brother and the stereotypical middle child. He gets on with both his siblings and winds them both up, but he is also the peace keeper too. He wants everyone to be happy and hates moods. His best friend by far is Lucas. They get on so well, not only with sharing a room, but Lucas often goes to Tyler’s football training to help out. They also play a lot together, whether that is football or playing on the games console. With sharing a room you hear them both chatting away for what can feel like hours, I am glad they have this bond and I’d love to have had this as a child. You really love seeing a sibling bond when you’ve never had it and it amazes me every day. It does cause issues when Lucas is late in as Tyler won’t go to bed on his own. Like when Lucas was away on his residential, Aria had to sleep in Lucas bed. He also loves nothing more than reading Aria a bedtime story and putting her to bed. He spends so much time helping her read the words or learning.
Baking and crafting are still two of Tyler’s favourite things to do. I hope he’ll always keep this up as he’s really good at it. His favourite craft this year was the cardboard box robot. You’ll see it if you look at my crafts on here. He’s still got it in his room. Baking is the most rewarding, fun and tasty and he made these biscuits. Like most boys his age, the Xbox is creeping over, Fortnite especially when he’s not playing football or at school. So, I feel it’s important to try to get other activities in there and he loves them. I try to do as many as I can on my days off when they are on holiday from school.
Football is everything to Tyler. He loves to play, loves to watch and loves to spend time with his team mates on Xbox. Tyler still plays for his Dad’s club and although Robert coaches that team too, Tyler has other coaches. Unlike Lucas, Tyler is one of the oldest in his age group being a January birthday, where poor Lucas is the youngest only making it in by 7 days. It is Tyler’s dream to be a pro footballer and he has the drive and determination and skill to get there. He plays for the school too which he enjoys.
The highlight of everyone’s year was our trip to California over the summer to stay with my Aunt and Uncle. We had the most amazing time. They had a pool and we did Disney, universal and so much more. Tyler loved shopping and bought some very cool football boots and clothes. We barely scratched the surface and would love to go back someday. He loved sharing a room with both his siblings while away.
Tyler got his first ever phone for his Christmas and is enjoying being able to interact in family WhatsApp groups, keeping us entertained. He’s pretty funny and has an answer for everything. This resolves into a few arguments, but I think a lot of the time he’s not found that line that he shouldn’t cross. He’ll find his way. For now he’s sweet, kind, funny and caring, with his great sense of humour.
School wise Tyler is doing well. He’s not a fan of school and would be much happier staying at home in his pjs all day. He isn’t a fan of school work, but is good at both maths and reading. He has a very good understanding of French. He has Lucas old teacher who he likes having, but I think he missed not having Lucas and his classmates now they’ve moved to high school. Tyler is quite competitive and loves competing against his classmates in the bleep year, cross country and other sports. The biggest change in Tyler’s school year is that he’s taken over as head of digital team. He does the technical for musical theatre, shows, assembly, etc following in his brother’s footsteps. He’s good at it too. The only thing I’d like him to be more into is reading. He’s a good reader, but a reluctant one. Preferring to read together. I’m proud of all he achieves and can’t fault his effort, he gives his all at everything he does.
He loves playing with his siblings and rarely gets bored. He spots pretty skies for me, finds pictures in the clouds just like I did as a child and still do. I think Tyler is a little bit of both of us and keeps us on our toes. I love his creative side, imagination and his way of thinking. He’s a Mummy’s boy, but loves spending time with his Dad too.
Happy birthday to my handsome, funny, caring, special and cheeky wee rascal Tyler. Hope your 10th year is as awesome as you are.

Happy Birthday Tyler 🙂 My eldest is 25 and I still remember it like yesterday, it doesn’t go 🙂 xx
Bless. I can’t imagine him being 25. I bet it’ll be here before I know it xx
Oh I’m late, but hope Tyler had a fabulous birthday. And happy birthday to your blog too xx
Tyler sounds like an amazing little man, he has a lot in common with my middle child, Boo. Although she’s a year older. She also has an amazing bond with her sister and is the peacemaker between her and their little brother. She is so kind and caring and thoughtful and works hard at school even though she’d rather be at home in her pjs. She’s also the most fashion conscious of the three. I’m sure she’d get on really well with Tyler…but she doesn’t like football. (There has to be a BUT, haha)
So cool that you started your blog on Tyler’s first birthday and amazing that you’ve been going for 9 years!! Congratulations xx
Aww thank you. I think he might have. Funny how middle children can be like that. Sounds like he and your middle one would get on great. Thank you for the wishes too xx
What a handsome and very talented young man. What a wonderfully written post, he will look back on this one day. So lovely to have these blog memories ❤️
Thank you lovely. I hope he will love it when he does read back xx
