Collecting Leaves, Family Dinner And Blustery Days Our Weekly Photos – Week 38

22nd September 2018 By Susan Mann 25 Comments

Collecting LeavesFamily Dinner

Watching Leaves

Double Rainbows

Last weekend was actually quite a tough one, tougher than normal. Mainly football related, but we will get to that in a second. Last week I left you with my weekly post it was all about football and the first game in the Scottish Cup. Unfortunately, they didn’t win. They played well, but it wasn’t meant to be. It was sad and hard as that is them out, but for the club that Robert runs, it was a huge milestone and one that can never be taken away from them. The other thing I mentioned was about the cat, well,  it is no longer here with us. Sad, but it had a good life. My mum is ok too.

Saturday, was a bit of a wash out with the game. Lots of cheering up were needed. I had my newfound Morrisons online shop delivered early Sunday morning so we could make the most of the day. We didn’t have any football. Robert was finding things difficult, blaming himself for the loss and both teams run of bad luck. It’s not, but he takes it personally and Lucas has been having a few football related issues when trying out for things and again, he took it to heart. I felt everyone needed to get out and do something fun, together as a family. We needed to step away from the football cloud. It does get a bit much when Robert coaches 4 nights a week, runs the club, so everything that goes with it and two games at the weekend. He loves it and it is incredible what is does. I’m so proud of him and support him, but sometimes it’s hard. We were going to go ice-skating, but it was really busy. So, we did a spot of shopping, oldest got his very own house key and then we went for an early dinner. It was just what we needed. We chatted, ate food, laughed and enjoyed being together. It was great and we were all happy. You can see Aria and Tyler were having fun doing a spot of shopping in the photo above.

Monday, was back to work, school and the usual week. Lucas is up super early for his school bus, Robert is pretty knackered so he’s skipped the 6 am gym session and it’s all go. Work is busy and school is full on. Tuesday saw me being off work so I did the school run, then I had my first ever dental treatment. Not so good. I had to get two teeth filled as I’d cracked the sides due to clenching my jaws. I did not enjoy the experience I can tell you and my jaw is still sore, but it’s done. After that, I did some writing for a bit and watched some This is Us and Chesapeake shores before picking Aria up from school. We walked home and picked up some leaves to make a leaf collage. If there was ever a girl who was made for autumn it was her. A girl after my own heart. She loves the leaves, the colours and the conkers. Plus, let’s face it, she is the colour of autumn, isn’t she? I just love that photo above. Once we’d done our picture and homework it was time to go back to school to get Tyler from school football team. He got picked to play in the festival for the team next week so that is exciting. While we were out, Lucas came home. Homework for the boys and then a yummy dinner together before Robert and Tyler were out to football training.

Wednesday was back to work, my jaw is still aching. It was the super windy day and watching lots of gusts of wind and rain outside the window wasn’t fun. But a stormy day means a pretty sky. Just look at that double rainbow I captured on the way out of work? It is worth that rain. All the kid’s activities were cancelled including a football that evening. So, we got a night off. We watched some tv, Aria and I are liking Muppet Babies and read some books before bed.

I’m at that in-between stage of books just now, I finished a really good book that I didn’t want to end. When this happens I struggle to get back into another. I hate leaving the characters and world behind. Tell me I’m not alone?

Thursday was our Friday. It was dressed down day for the little ones which make it all the most exciting to go to school. I didn’t have a uniform so it was like dress down day every day at school for me. I was busy at work. When I came home Twilight was enjoying watching the leaves blow about and we got some conkers from the tree for the boys, but they weren’t quite ready. I am actually typing this tonight, which is Thursday. Yes, it’s early, but I have a busy weekend planned and it’s not because of football as it’s a bank holiday weekend here, so we have no football. Tomorrow we are all off on for a weekend away with Robert’s family. It’s a surprise, but it’s still in Scotland. The kids love it as the cousins all get on and Lucas is in their year at high school anyway, but it’s nice to be away. I am heading down a little later, however, as I am going to see Shania Twain in concert with my friend. I cannot wait and booked the ticket last year. I am a huge country fan and Shania was always one of my Dad and my favourite. I am really looking forward to it and seeing my friend. I will be up with the family after it. We are spending Friday to Monday there, it will be nice to have some down time. Spend time as a family and it’s always a laugh. I’m sure there will be many a fall out between Robert and his sister over a board game. It is lovely to see a sibling relationship as I don’t have that.

Anyway, I should probably pack, keep up to date on twitter, I am still old school. we have quite a few busy weekends coming up on top of football, so I am hoping to get some pretty pictures and fit in some writing which I am feeling happier about, another story for another time. How is your week been? I hope you have a great weekend.

Sounds like you are all enjoying a lovely weekend away. I hope the football picks up for your boys and Robert next week. A little time away may be just the trick. A lovely set of photos from your week as always.

Sounds like a demanding week! As you asked, my week has been dominated by the school run. Car was off the road for three days so had to do it by bus. Fine int the morning, but it mean leaving the house at 1.30pm to get the kids in the afternoon. As a result, zero housework got done! Anyway, love the first pic. Such great autumnal colours and wonderful to see Aria enjoying the outdoors. #mysundayphoto

Sorry to hear about the football. Robert is amazing to devote that much time to it! We found it hard enough when my husband was running the team and doing just one session a week. He’s back to coaching twice a week now after a two year break, but isn’t running the team, so that should be easier!
I know exactly what you mean about books! I’m stupid though, because when I love a book, I read it really quickly at the end as I want to know what happens, then I regret finishing it!
Hope your jaw is feeling better. x

Aria is made for the autumn. I bet it was a beautiful collage. I’m the same with books. It takes me a while to pick up another, if the last one I read is still churning in my head. Tough times with football. I hope it picks up. Horrible to see them upset by it. Hope you enjoyed the concert and weekend. #MySundayPhoto

I hope you are having a fantastic weekend away, you looked stunning on your way to see Shania 🙂 I’m sorry about the football, and about the poor cat 🙁 Still, I hope you are having a fabulous weekend away with family, how lovely. My favourite photo has to be the one of Aria and the leaves, but Twilight comes a close second x

Hi Susan, I hate it when everyone is feeling on a downer, it affects the whole atmosphere in the house. Roberts sounds like he takes his football very seriously indeed, which must be difficult for you at times, even if you his biggest supporter… I’m sorry to read about your Mums cat, it’s never easy to say goodbye to a pet, but there comes a point when we know it’s for the best, which makes it easier to accept… I hope your tooth has settled down now. I never had a tooth problem until late in life and would happily sway tooth pain for childbirth any day!.. I’ve had quite a busy weekend, but it doesn’t look like I’ll have the swim I keep promising myself. I must have at least one more before winter sets in!..Have a fantastic time away.

Oh no that is a shame about the football. It sounds like they did well to get that far though. So sorry about the cat.

I can imagine the football gets too much. My best friends husband runs a local team and also coaches his younger sons team, he also works full time as a police officer. He finds it difficult and so does my friend.
Zac’s not interested in football but my oldest son was, I remember how hard it was back then, freezing my butt off watching matches early Sunday morning.

Sorry about the cat, glad your mums ok.xx

Hope you enjoy your weekend away and the board game wars don’t kick off 😂.

Poor Mum, sorry about the cat, losing a pet hurts,
Oh no at the issues with the football. YOur husband devotes a lot of hours to this and I truly admire a working man with a young family that finds the time to do this.
Hope you are enjoying your time away and getting chance to relax.

Gorgeous photos – Twinkle cat is an excellent capture – I’ve photographed Gary on the window ledge too – pesky black cats! That sky below reminds me of Jamie And The Magic Torch (If you are old enough to have seen it!).
