Goodness, what a week, even I am exhausted. I am writing this Friday night which is earlier than I usually write my weekly post, but have a busy weekend with football starting, so I thought I’d fit it in and try to relax some. You’ll read why I am a tad drained. When I left you last week during my weekly post we were enjoying our last few days of the summer holidays. How is yours going?
Last Saturday we went to Flip Out Glasgow and had a great time bouncing around. Such a fun place and a lovely way to end the holidays. However, Robert was ill so he didn’t get to join in, with our jumping fun. It meant we couldn’t go to my cousins birthday party. He was too poorly for me to leave him.
Sunday was a bit of a washout, Robert was ill. But, I got all the kids uniforms stamped with my awesome stampers, sorted and hung up all ready for back to school. I even sorted all the boys clothes for giving away, charity and a few for the bin, so albeit a productive day, even if the weather sucked.
Monday I was at work, a busy day. The kids had some fun crafting with my mum and I’m sure the boys fitted in some extra Fortnite practice. I had a meeting at night when I got home, nothing much else.
Tuesday, I had the day off. I asked the kids what they wanted to do as one last treat before back to school and they wanted to go swimming. Not our usual pool, but one that I haven’t been to since Lucas was under 2 years old. I took him there then and there is a pirate ship they can go on, however, there is a bucket above said pirate ship that fills will water and drops it below when full. Unfortunately, a little Lucas was under the bucket and got the biggest fright. He refused to go back ever since. You can imagine my surprise when he asked to go. Off we went and they had the best time. So much so, they have asked to go back this weekend. Not sure, we will fit it in but will try. Lucas also went for a trial on the bus up to school and back, just so he knew where to get off, etc. He seemed to really enjoy that too. Next was the haircuts. We really packed it all in, we even baked a cake. I do love these days off during the holidays. We had so much fun, as you can see in the photo above.
I was working Wednesday, football training was on in the evening for Lucas, so it was bath’s and early to bed for the rest of us. The only one who had a sleepless night due to nerves was me. Starting high school is a whole new ball game. It’s the unknown.
Our days now start much earlier, with Lucas leaving at 7:50 and getting a lift to meet friends and then the bus. He looked so grown up and smart in his new uniform. A few friends texted to say they saw them all go into school. And I could follow him on the app, now that he is allowed his phone at school. Robert and I took Aria and Tyler to school for their first day back, before heading to work. They both looked great in their uniforms too. Trying to keep myself busy and hoping to get a text at lunch or break to see let me know how he was going. I heard nothing, I gave in and texted by the end of lunch and asked how it was going. I got good. So, I took that as a win. He’s a boy of few words unless he’s losing at Fortnite! I called Robert’s mum after the younger two finished to see how they got on and they both had a good day. Now, I just had to wait another hour or so to hear from Lucas. I kept checking the app to see if he was at his Gran’s. He finished later that day but didn’t get home until closer to 5 by the time the bus came. I was almost on the ceiling at work by now. I got a text to say he had a good day but waited until I got home to quiz him in the car on the way home as he was heading straight to football. He was very upbeat and told me his favourite class, etc. It was really good to hear and I can’t wait I’m still not worried, I am, but I am so proud of him. And some of my fears are starting to lift. Aria and Tyler told me all about their days and seem to be settling in fine without their big brother there. It was a long and such a draining day. I was glad to get to bed that evening.
Today, Lucas had another good day, is loving the bus and came home very upbeat. The other two are tetchy and tired. An early night for us all this evening. I am gubbed.
Tomorrow, Saturday sees the start of the football season. Tyler has a match in the morning and Lucas thankfully has no game. I am heading to Glasgow for my first critique writing group for a few hours in the afternoon and then chilling with Robert and a takeaway.
What are your plans? Have a good weekend and a lovely week.
Hope Lucas is coping with his earlier starts and the new school year. Even though ours don’t go back for another 2+ weeks, because we’re heading off on holiday on Tuesday and returning just before the kids have to go back to school, it feels like we’re at the end of the school holidays already.
He is an early bird, so the early starts are fine. I hope you have a great holiday xx
I’m so pleased for you that Lucas is enjoying his first days of high school. It is such a change but he certainly looks the part. I love Aria’s uniform too, great colours.
Fingers crossed this week goes as smooth. Thank you x
Looking very smart!
Thank you x
Oh I can’t imagine having one of mine start at secondary school but it’ll happen soon enough I know! I can so see why you are drained, especially with football starting up again (it’s gymnastics in this house). I will have to keep Flip Out in mind for our next visit north of Hadrian’s Wall. #mysundayphoto
It really does sneak up on you before you know it. xx
So pleased that Lucas had a good start to school. Hopefully you will be able to relax a bit now. Hope Robert is all better now. x
I hope this week goes well, thanks lovely x
They all look so smart in their uniform. So glad to hear Lucas has settled quickly.
Have a good Sunday and thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
Yes, fingers crossed it goes well this week xx
Glad Lucas seems to be settling in so quickly. Sounds like you packed a lot in to the last days of the holidays.
Fingers crossed and enjoy your time off with H xx
I don’t know where the summer has disappeared to! They are all looking so grown-up – especially Aria. Hope Robert is feeling better now #MySundayPhoto
It has gone so fast. Thank you x
Definitely a busy week as it always is first one back. Glad Lucas is settled in, Big step, but he’s obviously taking it in his stride
I hope this week goes as well x
Hi Susan, my head was spinning as I was reading this. You have had a busy week! You are bound to be a little anxious about Lucas starting big school, but it sounds as if he is handling it nicely and with each child, it will get easier… Those holiday days together where you fit in loads of fun are the what memories are made of and any day that includes cake baking has to be the best.

xx
I hope so lovely, I really do. Thank you. You do make me feel better xx
Fabulous – how did that summer go so quickly? Glad they are settling in well,
Fingers crossed for this week xx
What a week you have had…
They do look so smart in their uniforms. It must have been so nerve wracking wating to hear about your boys first day at secondary school…I’m glad it went well x
Thank you. So far so good x
What a shame Robert was not feeling well. hope he has improved.
Your children look like butter would not melt in their uniforms all very beautiful children
I often wonder if modern phones and apps create more worry than they alleviate, your Mum would have known she was not going to hear about your day until you got it.
Hope you got enjoyment out of your writing class
Oh they do look like that. Wee monkeys, though. They do, I know that I think the fact you can find out more makes you worry more. Thank you xx
Oh my gosh how smart and grown up do they look?! x
They do, don’ t they? x
Ahh I’m so glad all has gone well with starting school, such a big step. We need to get hair cuts done this week too, eek the holidays are going too fast!
Nat.x
They do go so fast and so far so good x
They all look so smart. Love the cheeky pic of your Daughter. HAHA
lol she is a wee monkey xx
I’m glad the start to high school has gone so well. A new school is daunting enough without the added complication of getting there and back!
It really is, but so far so good xx
You always fit so much in! I’m like, ‘we made a cake’ or ‘we watched a movie’ and feel like it was a busy day 😀
The kids look so smart – best of luck to them all for a fabulous week – and to you! Hope you are better xx
I think because I don’t have a lot of time at home, I feel I need to cram it all in. Thank you lovely xx
