As a kid of the 80’s, yes, the 80’s, you didn’t get the same amount of packaged drinks that you get these days. So, the ones that were around, you remember, the one I remember most fondly was Capri-Sun. It was a real treat and one you got when you were out for the day or a trip to the beach. And I am glad that they are back, better than ever. Now I can share the drink that reminds me of happy summer days, with my children and hopefully, they will have the same happy, sunny, summer day memories they can pass on.
Did they ever go away, I hear you ask? Well, they may not have disappeared completely, but they have gotten better. Capri-Sun Original has a new recipe. Don’t worry, it still has that same great orangey taste from the original Capri-Sun of our childhood, but it has a whopping 50% less sugar. I know, how good is that? That’s not all, it contains no artificial colours, preservatives or flavours. This makes me feel better about giving it as a treat. The sugar comes from Stevia, which is a natural source. I have tasted both the blackcurrant and the orange, both are lovely and very refreshing.
It is important for kids to stay hydrated, especially during these warm summer months. My boys play a lot of football, so the Capri-Sun drinks are perfect for them to take with them or when they come in after running around. It is all about getting the right balance. Tyler is a big fan of the blackcurrant ones.

With the gorgeous weather we have been having, you really have to make the most of it. Especially, living in Scotland, we know how quickly it can change and we are loving it. At the weekend, the kids and I decided to have a picnic lunch, it’s the school holidays here after all. I made some wraps with cheese, chicken and some garlic sausage for myself. Some pineapple chunks, a few treats and some delicious Capri-Suns. We are loving our Capri-Sun cool bag for keeping our drinks chilled, but the clever design keeps our drinks safe when out and about.

It is important to get out and enjoy some family time together and the use of treats like Capri-Sun, means you don’t have to worry about your child’s teeth and health with it’s reduced sugar content. Allowing us to make healthier choices. We can have that balance and still have fun and make those lasting memories. My kids are always running about kicking a ball or Aria is on her bike, so it’s good to slow down and enjoy a lovely lunch together.
Whether it is a day out, a trip to soft play, swings and slides at the park, football or just a wee weekend treat, Capri-Sun has it covered. We had a lovely day playing on the trampoline, eating some snacks, chatting, blowing bubbles and Aria doing lots and lots of cartwheels. Constantly. The picnic went down a storm with all three kids, we even had some strawberries from the garden. It is all about the balance and enjoyment.
With the current heatwave, we are finding it difficult to cool down, but we’ve found the perfect solution. We put some Capri-Sun’s in the freezer and made a Capri-Sun icey. Tasty and cooling. A lovely treat. Capri-Sun is something we will be buying again over the summer.
Have you tried the new Capri-Sun Original? I’d love to know what your thoughts are?
Disclaimer:- This post was done in conjunction with Capri-Sun, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
We love these drinks and always take them with us on picnics. I’ve never put them in the freezer before, will have to give it a try.
They are really nice in the freezer. Great for the summer months x
Oh I’ve not tried these new reduced sugar ones I’ll have to look out for them. P.S. I’m so jealous that you’ve broken up for summer already!
They taste just as good as the previous ones. I know x
