Tour de France – Bike Crafts For Kids

15th June 2018 By Susan Mann 2 Comments

Tour de France Crafts

This month’s Tots100 #BostickBlogger craft topic is Tour de France and Cycling. Now, this isn’t a topic I was familiar with so, I pretty much let my middle child come up with the ideas. Here is what we came up with, I do hope you like them and I’d love to know your thoughts or if you make them.  Tour de France Crafts For Kids – Suncatcher Bike Wheel

Tour de France Bike Wheel Items

What you’ll need:-

  • Red, white and blue tissue paper
  • Bostick Fine & Wide Glu Pen
  • Paper Plate
  • Scissors

Tour de France Bike Wheel Shape

Step 1

Cut out a triangle that you can use as a template to cut out 2 red, 3 white and 2 blue from the tissue paper.

Cut Tissue Paper

Step 2

The tissue paper triangles don’t need to be tidy, just as long as they are big enough for the triangles on your plate.

Step 3

Now, I am sorry, but I seem to have forgotten to take a picture of the plate with the wheel drawing on it. It is straight forwarding enough. We drew 7 triangles with a line in between and a circle in the middle. Just like a bicycle wheel. Then cut out the triangles in the middle.

Step 4

It will look like above and then you start to stick your tissue paper triangles to the back of the plate using Bostik Thin & Wide Glu Stick.

Step 5

Once you’ve stuck them all on, it should look like the above. As you can see it doesn’t really matter if the triangles aren’t perfect.

Step 6

Once you turn it over, it will look like this. Allow it to dry.

Step 7

Here is our Tour de France Suncatcher bike wheel. What do you think?

And you can hand it up against a window like this.

Step 4

We then added a third colour of pipe cleaner to make some pedals and handlebars. We added little beads to the end for decoration, but you don’t need to use those.

Why not add some wheels spokes to your bike and you are good to go. Here is our Tour de France Pipe Cleaner bike. Why not make a set?
