Swizzels Rainbow Drops Cakes for The Sweetest Invention Competition

21st June 2018 By Susan Mann 3 Comments

Swizzels Sweet Invention

I am a huge fan of Swizzels in fact, they make my all time favourite sweet which is Parma Violets. They are amazing. I just love them and even wear perfume that smells a bit like it. So when Swizzles sent through an invent your own sweet kit, as part of their 90th celebrations and the launch or their fantastic competition. We thought we’d invent our own sweets in the form of Rainbow Drop Cakes.

Swizzels Sweets

We used up as many of the Swizzels sweets as we could.

Planning Recipe

We started planning our favourite sweet and wrote it down, then planned our recipe.

Rainbow Drop Cakes

Recipe:-

4oz margarine

4oz caster sugar

4oz self-raising flour

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 tsp water

A packet of Swizzels of Rainbow Drops

Frosting if required

Method:-

Swizzels Rainbow Drops Cakes Flour

Pre-heat your oven to 180 degrees. Put your dry ingredients in a bowl.
Swizzels Rainbow Drops Cake Mix
Add in the liquid ingredients and the egg.
Mixing Cakes
Whisk until smooth.
Rainbow Drops

Add in the packet of Rainbow Drops and stir.

Cakes

Put your cake batter into cupcake cases. And place in the oven for 10-12 minutes.

They turned out good. We were a bit sad that the colour didn’t come through as well as we’d thought.

Pinata cake

Since Swizzels Parma Violets were my favourite, we thought we’d make a pinata one with them. So I cut out a small portion of the middle of the cake. Filled it with Parma Violets and placed the spare bit of cake back on before icing it.

You can see the Parma Violets in the middle. It was tasty. I wish I’d make a few more of these. Next time, definitely.

Love Heart Decoration

We cheated and used pre-made icing. There is one thing I cannot do and it is the swirly, pretty icing. To top them off we added a Swizzels Love Heart sweet.

Don’t they look pretty and we truly loved them. What do you think? What Swizzels sweets would you use? I do love the emoji love hearts, cute aren’t they?

Swizzels Website

Why not head over to the Swizzels website and enter their fantastic Sweetest Invention Competition celebrating their 90 years, which is incredible. It is simple to enter, have a look at their gallery of sweets and come up with some new and fun ideas. Enter on the website on social media channels using #MySwizzels I’d love to know what you would come up with. Mine would have to be mixing Squashies with Parma Violets, how amazing would they be? Squashie Violets? I would love love love these made in real life, fingers crossed for me!

Their four favourite creations will be shortlisted and put to the public vote. The winner will be invited for a super awesome VIP tour of the Swizzels factory in Derbyshire to see their creation come to life. How cool would that be? What are you waiting for, head over and submit your invention? And let me know too or if you have any ideas for our next baking sensation.

Disclaimer:- We were sent some Swizzels sweets and items, but we came up with our ideas and our thoughts and opinions are my own.
