High School, Illness, Circus And Pink Sky Our Weekly Photos – Week 24

16th June 2018 By Susan Mann 25 Comments

High School

Illness

Circus

Pink Sky

Last weekend after I left you with last week’s weekly post Aria was pretty poorly. Turned out she had quite severe tonsilitis. That wasn’t so great. So, she was off the Friday but felt a bit better on Saturday, or so we thought, and we managed to go to Zippos Circus. If you ever get a chance to go, you should. It’s an awesome show, but I will blog it separately. Lucas was delighted to meet some of the performers and Aria was delighted to have some candyfloss. We had such a lovely day together. In the evening poor Aria fell asleep and the boys were out playing football with friends. Sunday, Aria wasn’t feeling great at all, so she lay on the couch with me. Lucas, a few friends and mums did a trial walk to high school. Trying to get Aria to take medicine is a nightmare, she does not want to take it and it was too sore to swallow, poor soul. I was up all night trying to get her to take it from 3 am until 5 am and she was having none of it. Thankfully, some ice lollies helped.

Monday was a tiring one and was back to school and work. Aria was homesick and lay on the couch, but started to perk back up in the afternoon. Work has been another stressful week. Tuesday so all the kids go on their school trip, Aria felt much better, so off they went to the safari park and had a wonderful time. It was so good to hear them all chattering away when I picked them up. Football training in the evenings and I’ve tried to get through some writing like you can read in my post about how I felt after I turned 40.

It was good to see Aria smile again and have some fun like she did when she got this unicorn balloon, she’s played with it for hours. Everyone knows, I love a good sky and my favourite quote might be “Forever the girl that gets excited when the sky is in pretty colours.” This was certainly me when I took the sky picture, the very brief capture of the pink was stunning.

Thursday and Friday have been the biggest change around here, when my baby boy, or not so little boy, Lucas went to high school for his induction days. With the weather change and rain, we thought it best to give them a lift rather than the long walk with everything else going on. It is a huge step for him and for Robert and I. He is our first one to go to high school and it’s very much the unknown. However, he took it all in his stride and really enjoyed both days. He knows what classes he is in for Practical and Non Practical subjects and who he is with. It is huge school, compared to his primary, so he’s glad he has a few known faces in his classes. I can’t tell you how relieved I am. So much so, last night, Thursday night, I blew, like a pressure cooker once the kids were in bad. I didn’t stop until my face was tear and mascara steaked. And now I can breathe again. As long as he is ok, I am ok.

Next week is our last full week at school before the end of the school year, so it’s all go. Aria has a school show on Monday, there is the school disco, which I am doing the photobooth on Tuesday evening and the following week, which finishes Thursday sees all the leavers stuff. I am not sure I’m ready for all that.

This weekend the boys are off to combat city for Tyler’s football team treat and we are doing some holiday shopping, hopefully. Apart from that, I hope to get some writing done and chill for a bit. I have a few things to catch up on. It has been quite a tense week and I feel my shoulders are up around my ears. Do you ever feel that way? Hope you have a good weekend.

So glad that Aria is feeling better, tonsillitis is a horrid illness. Make sure you stock up on tissues, the end of year six is the most emotional time. The move to ‘big’ school is both scary and exciting but I’m sure Lucas will soon settle in real quick. I always say it’s just as hard for Mum’s as for kids. x

Aww! Poor Aria. Tonsilitis is the worst.
I’m glad the induction day went well for Lucas. My girl has hers soon.

Exciting times for Lucas. N will be the same – our primary school is only 90ish kids. The catchment secondary is 1400 (it’s even bigger than the secondary schools in town which seems nuts). We coped there, but then our primary school was 400 children and the secondary was less than 1000 back then.

Poor little Aria, it’s not nice to see them so poorly. It’s going to be an emotional week for you, no wonder your shoulders feel tight. Book yourself in for a massage, you definitely deserve one and it would help with the tension. Hope the boys enjoy their football treat.

Well, you’ve had lots going on!

Happy to hear that Aria is feeling better – it is never easy when our little ones aren’t feeling great. I bet you’re feeling so many mixed emotions about your eldest started high school very soon; a transitional time for all I’m sure. Lovely photos from your week. I hope your weekend went as planned. #keepingitreal

Hi Susan, it sounds like it was a bit of a week for you and I hope your shoulders are back in a more relaxed position now the children have finished school. Tonsillitis is nasty, my daughter has had it a few times in the last couple of years which is making the Doctor encourage her to have them out, but she’s eighteen now and finding time isn’t easy, but we shall see. If only a unicorn balloon or a pretty sky could put all the world to rights!… Just think that by Christmas Lucas will be all settled in his new school and you’ll honestly wonder why you felt stressed by it all (hindsight is wonderful but useless). I hope Tyler had a fab time at Combat City and that you managed to buy something nice, just for you.

Thank you for popping by and linking up with #keepingitreal.

    xx

Our school is not over for another month, it is even later than usual this year. Sorry to hear that Aria was poorly. We’ve never been to Zippo’s circus, but I’ve seen posters in Oxford, I think. Glad Lucas had a good time in his new school, and hope he settles quickly there.

Secondary schools these days are so huge compared to primary schools. I was quite worried about my daughter finding her way around but schools seem really good at looking after the new intake in that way.
