Now, I thought I was tired and behind when I left you last Thursday evening with my weekly post, but that was nothing compared to this week. My brain has been well and truly fried. I didn’t even post on twitter or Instagram all weekend. Which is unheard of. I apologise to everyone who has commented the last two weeks, I am almost caught up with everything urgent, like washing, etc and will catch up and comment and reply early next week, hope that’s ok?
So, last Friday morning I set off to get a plane to London, then two tubes, an hour-long train and a half hour taxi journey to my destination which was Book Bound Retreat. Apart from the super long journey, I arrived at the most amazing Oxon Hoath Manor pictured above and it was a whirlwind of inspiration, learning and the most engaging and talented group I could imagine. I will blog about it separately, but let’s just say it was awesome and I came aay having learned so much I thought my brain might explode and has some incredible opportunities. Plus friendships were formed. It was all over far too quickly and it was time for the oh so long journey back to Scotland.
I am a very nervous traveller, not the modes of transport, but that I’m worried I’ll end up on the wrong train or end up in France. Thankfully, I had a few people along on the journey to help me and for that I am grateful. There was one scary moment when I was sat on the train on the way down, not knowing if I was on the wrong carriage as the train split. There was me sweating, thinking part of the train went one way, the part went another and I’d inevitably be on the wrong part. Of course, totally irrational, but you get the idea of what goes on in my brain. I was fine!
I arrived home, knowing that Lucas was poorly and that Robert had him out out of hours. Suspected tonsillitis. Which is bad at the best of times, but even worse when you have your second football trial the next day. He did it, played his heart out and we are proud of him, but he wasn’t at his best. He did amazing to get through as there was less than half asked back. Time will tell. Keep your fingers crossed.
He was poorly most of the week. I was working all week and was knackered and grouchy come the evenings. My mum has been away on holiday, so we have been feeding her cats too. Thankfully, the in laws have been helping with the kids which has been wonderful. But, have I said how utterly drained I am. I eventually caught up on twitter and instagram and slowly started posting again. Then, came the fateful night on Wednesday evening when I looked out of the window and saw a stunning pink sky. It was too pretty not to take a picture, so I opened the upstairs landing window, stuck my phone out, snapped the picture, turned to speak to Tyler and… down when the phone. Crash onto the concrete below…
I raced downstairs and out into the back garden. I didn’t let my breath out until I was outside. It survived, only a little chip out of my cover. Can you believe it? The lengths I will go to take a pretty sky picture. Worth it though?
Lucas went back to school towards the end of the week and both Aria and Tyler took their bikes to school. Tyler has bikeability for 10 weeks where he learns to ride on the road and paths safety. They do it for three years at different levels which I think is great.
Friday, I captured another pretty picture of the cherry blossom which I love. The one thing about it coming out late is that it is still around.
This weekend is the first weekend we have been in, in a while and I am looking forward to it. I missed Eurovision last weekend, which I love, but hopefully, I will catch the Royal Wedding after football. I plan to spend time with Robert and the kids and I really need to get this book done after all that, don’t I? What are your plans for the weekend?
A hectic time – and well done. Lucas! I’ve had the kids by myself for a few days as Heather is away on a long weekend in Lisbon with her girl-friends. So lots of running around and absolutely no time watching the wedding. I was pleased for Harry and Meghan but not really that fussed about the wedding itself. Mind you, I was following the commentary from bloggers on Twitter and Instagram, so it was a bit like I was watching anyway!
Wow the pink sky was a good sign! I dunked my phone in the hot tub this week and was less fortunate, an expensive mistake!
Glad to hear you arrived at the correct destination. You certainly wouldn’t want to be sleeping in the wrong part of the Caledonian Sleeper! Hope your little one’s tonsillitis clears up and very lucky the phone bounced. That said, youdid get an amazing picture!
Hi Susan, I am the same when travelling. If I’d have been on that train that split it would be odds on I would be in the wrong section!.. It sounds like the Book Bound Retreat was worth the journey. Getting together and learning with like-minded people has to be inspiring… So glad to read that tonsilitis didn’t put Lucas totally out of action and if he got through the trials not feeling 100% imagine what he’d be like running on all cylinders? You must be a proud Mum… Lucky about the phone! It’s funny how you can just catch them wrong and the screen breaks and yet you can drop them out of a window and they survive!… The cherry blossom and pretty pink sky must have been spirit lifters for you. Very pretty… Hope you’re feeling less tired this week.
xx
It sounds like a really tough week. I’m sure nobody minds if you let a comment or two slip on the blogs (but thank you for catching up on mine!) I’m hoping this weekend is much more relaxing for you and your head is feeling a bit clearer.
That cherry blossom is stunning! So glad your phone was OK, what a nightmare! x
That blossom is the most beautiful. That would look great as a phone background.
Fingers crossed for Lucas, hope it’s a bit more relaxed for you this week
Have a good Sunday and thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
Such a beautiful picture of the blossom. Just my favourite time of year.
That cherry blossom is stunning and you always seem to capture the most beautiful skies. Book bound sounds like it was fun
Gosh Susan! You have been a busy lady! Well done to you for going all that way on your own, that’s a lot of changes on transport, that would stress most people out, so don’t feel silly. I’m looking forward to reading about your experience and can’t wait to read your book. I will be the first to buy a copy. Hope you enjoyed your family time this weekend.
You are one busy lady! I do love the cherry blossom shot. It’s gorgeous! Good luck this week.
What a lovely blossom picture! Glad the writing event went well. I know what you mean about trains dividing that always has me on edge too.
I know I was so so tired from just BlogOn so I can’t imagine how tired you must be feeling from two very packed weekends. Hope you’re taking it easy this weekend and I’ll look out for your post on the book retreat.
It sounds like you had a great weekend away.
Aww! Poor Lucas. You must be so proud of him playing football. I hope he is feeling better now.
The cherry blossom is so pretty…
What a week! Poor Lucas, tonsillitis is the worst, I hope he is ok now. That pink sky is amazing!

What a hectic week you’ve had lovely! I hope you were able to enjoy some relaxing time over the weekend… and OMG I recoiled when reading about your phone :O
Glad Lucas is better and WELL DONE to him for powering through for his football! xx
What stunning photos! I absolutely love spring time when the blossoms come out, they fill me with hope that summer is on it’s way…and it hasn’t disappointed yet! I know what you mean about the phone…smashed my screen last weekend and ended up forking out for a new one, only to drop it down the loo at work the following Tuesday! It spent a day in a bowl of rice, and well… touch wood we’re still in action! Haha! Hope Lucas is feeling better now. #SilentSunday
It sounds like a relaxing weekend is just what you needed – so I hope that came to fruition. Also, your opening photo for this post is one of the most beautiful blossom pictures I’ve seen. A lovely week to you & your family #MySundayPhoto
Sounds hectic! Hope you relaxed and enjoyed the royal wedding!
