Since before the birth of my kids, I have been reading various different types of blogs, some serious, some honest and some funny. I love reading them and they have helped me through so many ups and downs, especially through the last 8 years that I have been writing too. This book is just like having a plethora of awesome blog posts in one place. If you like funny and honest writing, you will love We Need To Talk About The Terms Of My Imprisonment …and Other Funny Parenting Stories (Affiliate Link) I was sent through a copy of this before it was released and I have to say I giggled my way through the next few hours, it is very funny and you will be able to relate with many of these.
Synopsis:- If you’ve ever found yourself eating chocolate in the bathroom while hiding from your children, tearing your hair out as your bundle of sweetness and joy decorates the living room wall with their dinner for the umpteenth time, or pacing the floor, Zombie-like, as they cry the house down at three in the morning for reasons only they understand, then this is the book for you!
Compiled by Michelle Tan and containing contributions from some of the most popular writers from the parenting community, this book promises to be the humorous antithesis to all those ‘How To Be A Perfect Mother’ books out there.
Review:- It certainly lives up to be much funnier than any other “How to be a perfect mother” books. My favourite reads were the fairy tales takes on mothering. I am a huge fan of fairy tales and reading them to Little Miss at the moment. It is something that I found funny and relatable, it is nice to put them in a real-life situation and the writing is done perfectly.
Within the cover, you will share twenty-one different parents experience on their witty views on parenting of young kids in all its glory. It’s aim is to make you feel less alone on those sleepless nights, when you feel like you are banging your head against the wall when your toddler is having a full-blown tantrum over the shape of their sandwiches or bringing you back to those memories when feeling for a brief moment you wouldn’t survive this parenting gig. The humour is there and the writing is there, it is real and lighthearted, just what the doctor ordered.
What I love about reading this is that the story will grab your attention, hold it, but will make you laugh out loud with an amusing little anecdote. You’ll gasp at some of the stories, snort with laughter at the others, but you will mostly nod along as a parent, we’ve pretty much all been there. We wish we’d written these down as we went along. The book is one of those you can pick up, read a story and fall asleep or you need a quick pick me up while hiding out in the bathroom, it’s just the right size.
If you are a parent who is in the throes of coffee-fuelled days and sleepless nights or wondering how on earth you tell your kids where babies come from without scaring them for life, or even if your kids have flown the nest, you will laugh so hard, there will be tears streaming down your face. Why not have a night off, have a glass of wine, a few choccy biccies and open this book, you won’t regret it. I am hoping for a sequel.
Let me know what you think once you’ve read it and enjoy!
Disclaimer:- I was sent a copy of these book prior to it’s release, but I have since purchased it and bought it as gifts.

This sounds so funny! I’m sure we can all relate to it one way or another 😆 My daughter’s flown the nest now, so a lot of it would be just a long distant memory! Although grandchildren are no doubt on the horizon…😮
It is really funny and a good read regardless of the stage you are at xx
