Fierce, Gretna, a Birthday And Sunset Our Weekly Photos – Week 17

28th April 2018 By Susan Mann 53 Comments

Fierce

Gretna

Kitten Birthday

Sunset

Sooo last week wasn’t the best week when I left you after my weekly post, it did get a bit better, but it’s still been a bit of a bumpy ride this week. Last weekend we had two football matches on a Saturday morning. It was glorious sunshine and kick off was 9 am. Still the mud, but a little less squelchy than previous weeks. I floated between both kids matches, it was the first time they were both playing in the same park at the same time. Both did well and Tyler’s team won both matches and Lucas lost won and won one. As I’ve said many a time, he loves to play and never really bothers about the scores, but seeing the rest of his team celebrating, he couldn’t help but get carried up in the spirit. It was a fab start to the day.

The afternoon I did the rubbish food shop, I hate it, but needs must, we all need to eat and all that. I am never organised enough for an online shop and feel that I can’t budget the same as I meal plan. Anyway, it was done. My mum came over and Robert and I headed down to Gretna for an overnight away. My mum bought Robert it as a gift for his birthday back in January. We had a lovely time there, it is a special place as we got married there 10 years ago. We had a nice meal, chatted, had a few drinks and enjoyed spending some much needed time together. On Sunday, we headed for a bit of shopping in Glasgow before heading back home to our babies. It’s nice to be away, but I miss them too. Aria greeted me with her I missed you, but I am fierce look. She seems to have it down, don’t you think?

Monday it was back to work and school. Lucas is still having a tough time, adjusting to the thought of moving to high school and his residential coming up on Monday. Plus lots of other tween stuff, it’s hard and it’s all new territory for all of us. Tuesday is the day I struggle with between work and school and home life. It was Twilight’s second birthday too. Can you believe she is two already? It doesn’t seem that long since we brought her home as a teeny wee kitten in the picture above. She still a cutie though.

Wednesday was the day Robert and I were a bit nervous about, Lucas tried out for the SFA football school within his high school and he found out on Wednesday he made it through the first trial. It is a huge achievement and boosts for him. He’s worked so hard for it and we were delighted. We both called him from work and both had tears in our eyes telling him. He still has to get through the second trial. It would be amazing, but if he doesn’t, it has been fantastic for him to get this far. We have everything crossed and are proud of him no matter what. My sky shot from the way home on Wednesday summed it up.

Thursday and Friday were filled with work, school, chores and catching up. We have Lucas going on his first school residential on Monday and we are all a bit nervous about it, to be honest. As long as he’s fine getting on that bus, I will be fine as I know he will have a blast. He also had a uniform meeting at high school this week, so it’s all becoming a bit real.

We have a busy weekend of two football matches, Aria has a party, Robert and I have a party Saturday night and we will be getting ready for the trip Monday. What are your plans for the weekend? I hope you are having a good one. project-365-2017-badge

That’s great news about the football, I really hope he makes it through to the next stage. Hope everything goes smoothly for the residential tomorrow. It’s understandable that you are all a bit worried. I can’t believe Twilight is two already! It only seems five minutes ago that you got her.
    Love Aria’s fierce face! x

Oh Gretna, driven past it many a time but never visited. Maybe I should suggest to Mrs Adams we go for a short break one day? Great work on making it through the football trial and best of luck with round tow. And yes, that is a fierce face! #mysundayphoto

The tween years are tough, aren’t they? We’re just going through that with Isaac now. This week’s new milestone: he now needs deodorant. It’s been a quietish weekend here with the weather taking a turn for the wintry again, although we do have Kara’s birthday party this afternoon (her birthday’s actually next weekend, but hey).

I’m glad you had a lovely weekend away, it’s good to have a break sometime. Well done to Lucas on his trial, I’m sure his residential will go well. Moving up to high school is so difficult but it can also be fun, I hope the school make it so. My daughter doesn’t have to worry about the move as her school became an all through school last year so she’s already in the high school!
Happy birthday to Twilight, what an adorable kitty photo x

High school is really scary as a parent – we had 4 within 2 years and it was just terrifying – thankfully the worrying was far worse than the doing! 🙂 x

Hi Susan, I love that ‘fierce’ photo of Aria, it’s certainly one to dig out on her eighteenth and worth a night away for… Food shopping is the worst, we don’t have the option of online shopping, but I’m not sure if I would if we did. Sometimes even the simplest of things aren’t so simple here… It’s not nice seeing our little ones struggle with changes, hopefully getting through the football trial will prove to Lucas that he is more capable than he knows. I hope he got off for his residential okay too.

    xx

Lovely photograph of the pair of you in Gretna. We passed through many years ago but I would love to stop and have a proper look round. School residential trips seem very daunting but usually the kids are so busy having fun they forget all their fears once they get there.
