Easter, Robert Burns And Chocolate Weekly Photos – Week 14

My last update with my weekly post, was just before our twin nieces arrived. One was just finishing football and the other was already having fun with her cousins. They had some fun watching some tv, playing some games, having lots of snacks and slept downstairs in the living room. I think it was about 2 am before I finally heard them go to sleep. If only they’d all sleep until a bit later, but not my oldest, he was up bright as a button at 7 am, if not before. We headed out for some ten pin bowling and lunch before it was time for the girls to go home. The kids are so close and best of friends, so it is lovely to have them stay.

Aria had a fun birthday party at a trampoline place in the afternoon and I am surprised she stayed awake. It was one of her little classmates, so she was very excited. It was a chilling evening and early to bed for the kids. Sunday, was an early rise to see if the Easter Bunny had left any treats. Robert and I hide a lot of little eggs and treats around the downstairs in the house for the kids to find in the morning. It has become our tradition and we all love it. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be with Lucas no longer believing in these type of things, but he loved it and joined in just as much as he has every year. It was a lot of fun. You can see the loved their treats in the photo above. Soft toys are always a hit. We ate some chocolate and played around before heading down to Robert’s sisters for a family Easter roast dinner which was nice.

Monday, saw Robert and I off work with it being a bank holiday which was fab. It’s the only one our company closes other than the four at Christmas. Every Easter we like to go to a Scottish National Trust Property to do one of the Cadbury Easter hunts, another fun tradition. This year we chose the Robert Burns Museum. We haven’t been before and we will most definitely be back. If you get a chance, I’d highly recommend it. It was a shame the weather was so dreich and cold, but we had a lovely time. The museum is filled with wonderful artefacts and interactive exhibits. Then the hunt takes you out into the gardens, Auld Kirk graveyard, Burns Cottage, Poets lane and to my favourite place in Scotland, Brig O’ Doon. I am slightly obsessed with the latter. I have been ever since I was a girl. I love the magical feeling of the place, it has a wonderful vibe to it. Steep in history, mystery and beauty. The cobbled stones were placed unevenly so that witches wouldn’t be able to cross it. I saw Brigadoon aged 7 at the theatre, I become infatuated with that too. I always wonder if I could just go over that bridge, would I find my magical place? I just love it. It is the main inspiration on my current novel too.

Can you believe I feature in not one, but two photos this week? I never get my picture taken and I’ve been on the blog twice in two weeks. The first picture is in the Burns gardens. It was cold and damp, but it was a lot of fun and we can’t wait to go back. The second is my favourite place, can you spot Tyler hiding from the wind? Even the shop there was fab. Aria bought a unicorn sequence pillow and I got another Scottish folklore book to add to my collection. Another obsession, or maybe an extension. After that, we went out for dinner as a last treat to end the holiday weekend. We went to Chiquito and I will blog about that soon.

It was back to work on Tuesday and I was working until Friday. The kids were with my mum and her partner on Tuesday. She was feeling a bit better so they took them bowling and out for lunch. My mum has never been before so she enjoyed that. She is still taking it easy though. Football training is off this week for the holidays, but back next week. It hasn’t stopped Lucas practising or doing some form of training. He is really taking it seriously the last while. The kids went to their cousins on Thursday and had lots of fun with them.

I captured this photo of Twilight when I was home one evening. She’s such a sweet kitty. Her coat is so glossy. I’ve had today, Friday off, so I could do some things with the kids. The boys have had friends over to play. I have a few plans for the weekend and will fill you in next week, I learned from the last time, my plans don’t always pan out.

What have you been up to? Are you enjoying the Easter holidays? project-365-2017-badge

Hi Susan, it sounds like your lot had fun with their cousins. Being a huge Cadbury’s chocolate fan I’d love to do a Cadbury egg hunt, so I am jealous! Our Easter is today and I’ve just hidden some eggs in the garden, my youngest is 18, but it’s part of our Easter tradition and they still love it, and it makes us laugh. I’m glad your Mum is feeling better, it’s tiring looking after children. Have a good week.

    xx

I agree since the converted the Burns Experience to be more interactive it is great. I love the posts with scenes from the poem along the poet walks that leads to the cottage. Not seen the new play area that is there but will get the kids there over the Summer.
Glad the sleep over went well, nice when they get on well with relatives.
