Last week when I left my weekly photo post, we were pretty much still filled with snow and unsure what the next week would bring, would school be on? Would we be able to get to work? Well, we were back to school and work, much to the boy’s disappointment. The snow was still around but had certainly dispersed. The kids had a good day at school and my mum picked them up afterwards. Football training was still cancelled as the pitches hadn’t thawed on Monday evening, so Lucas did some training at home. Robert and I went to the supermarket after work and didn’t get home until 7:30. We thought the supermarket would have restocked, but there were no bread, deodorant or even frozen oven chips. Nothing even remotely like chips or potatoes. We got most other things thankfully, as we’d not been able to get out over the weekend due to the weather.
Waking up on Tuesday morning, having waved goodbye to the snow and our igloo, see the picture above. She loved that igloo and there are the last remnants of it, but it’s pretty much gone. Anyway, we woke up on Tuesday morning to be covered in snow again. The school was on a delayed start as our town seemed to come to a standstill. I was supposed to go in for a short day, but I ended up taking the kids in late and then working from home. I was worried I wouldn’t get back if the school closed or the snow got worse. Thankfully, it didn’t and by mid-afternoon it was ice-rain. Boy, that was painful during the school run. School football training got cancelled and Tyler’s training at night due to the horrid weather. Will we ever get back to normal, we started to wonder? And there has not even been a pretty sky in sight this week, what is that all about?
Wednesday, the snow was gone and it was back to work and school as normal. Even Lucas football training was on. Robert and Lucas braved the freezing cold to train. I don’t know how they do it honestly. Robert coaches outdoors 4 nights a week and they play. In Scotland, they are off their heads, but they love it.
Aria, Tyler and I have been doing lots of bedtime reading. You can see a few on our Instagram. Aria has been enjoying the story sacks she’s getting home weekly from school. We had a fabulous space themed one that you moved the little moon about the solar system while reading the book. This week we have Owl Babies. Which was one of Lucas favourite when he was younger. The story sacks making the stories come to life.
Aria, having missed World Book Day, like a lot of us, dressed up in her Goldilocks costume. How adorable is it? I truly love this. Normally, I’ve made homemade costumes for World Book Day, but we came across this one and loved it. I think the colour really suits her red hair. Speaking of colours, check out Aria’s first piece of jewellery, it’s gorgeous.
Thursday was a normal school and a long work today, so long and so busy. I have been doing some software development work as well as my Ops Manager job, so the days have been a little draining at times. In the evening my oldest friend, that I’ve known since we were two years old, went to the cinema. We’d meant to go the last two weeks, but the snow kept hampering our plans. We had a lovely time and she’s been my best friend since we were two. It’s always good to hang out, we love each other’s company and the film was good too. It was nice to get out for a bit.
Friday I got some writing done during the day. I’ve struggled this week with Tyler and some issues he seems to be having. The wee soul has lost all his confidence in things and becoming quite shy again. He’s a sweet kid, who is mature and such a character, but only when he feels comfortable. We are doing lots of talking just now. And Lucas is getting closer to his school residential trip, so we are talking lots about that. I do feel it gets harder as they get older. I am struggling with not being able to protect them. I know I can’t and I need to give them some independence and support, baby steps and all. It’s a steep learning curve as a parent.
This weekend sees the first games of the football season after the postponement due to the weather. Saturday sees Tyler’s first game of 7’s and first match outdoors and this is Lucas last season of 7’s before he moves onto 11’s. It is going to be a bit of a juggle with both boys having matches on at the same time in two different towns. I will be with Tyler and Robert will Lucas as he coaches that team. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us. Not got much else planned so far for the weekend, other than family dinner at in-laws for Mother’s Day. What about you?
World Book day and snow Aria looks in her element. I hope you get to the bottom of things with Tyler.
She loves the costume. Thank you lovely xx
Funny how snow in places that don’t normally get it can set things in a tailwind. That ice and rain is nothing to fool with for sure. I heard about someone getting struck by lightning last week, crazy weather, glad things are back to normal.
It has been such crazy weather hasn’t it? x
Such a cool igloo. Loving Aria’s cheeky grin in her costume
Thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
She did love it x
My 6 year old twins dressed up as fantastic Mr Fox and Little Red riding hood, your daughter is looking so cute great shot #mysundayphoto
Bet those were fantastic. What great costumes. x
Oh Aria does look the perfect Goldilocks x poor Tyler, I hope he gets his mojo back soon bless him x
Thank you lovely. I hope so too x
Aww she so suits being goldilocks #MySundayPhoto
Thank you. She loves it xx
Brilliant igloo. We didn’t have enough snow to build a snowman here! 🙂 #sundayphoto
Aww what a shame. I would have shared 😉 x
That igloo was just the best…
I love Aria’s outfit. So cute.
Aww! I hope things are better with Tyler soon x
She loves it. Thank you lovely x
Hi Susan, Aria does look lovely in her Cinderella outfit, it’s a shame she didn’t get to wear it for World Book Day. I hope that’s the last of the snow for you too, it can’t be nice for your boys to have their football constantly put off because of the weather… Parenting is no easy job that’s for sure. Being there to guide them when they need it and knowing when to step back is a constant juggle. I’m sure Tyler will find his comfort level again soon.
xx
She loves her costume. I really hope so, but I am not sure. It was such a pain. Thank you lovely xx
I’ve been reading that more snow is forecast for the UK. I do hope springs shows her pretty head soon for you!
Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal.
xx
I really hope we don’t get any more snow to be honest. Thanks lovely x
Hope all the software dev is going well. What are you doing it in? Love the Goldilocks costume and your igloo is just fantastic!
I am doing VBA just now and some .net. I mainly do the support side so been a while since I’ve done lots of coding as I do Ops Manager. She loves the costume. How is your work going? x
Sorry to hear that Tyler has been struggling, I hope you’ve been able to help him. It sounds like the weather has still be very challenging for you. I hope it’s finally settled down now.
Thank you. We are working on it. I hope we’ve seen the last of it x
The igloo is amazing, and I love that Goldilocks outfit.
Thank you. She loves the dress x
Hope you had a lovely Mother’s day. N’s enjoyed Owl Babies, his class studied it (and owls in general) for their topic last term.
Is it such a good book isn’t it? I hope you had a good Mother’s Day x
Aria ia a beautiful girl and she does look fab in that dress, but she looks beautiful in anything.
I agree as they get older you want to protect them and it is a learning curve for you as much as them .
Thank you lovely. She loves the dress. It is such a learning curve and one I am not sure I am ready for xx
Oh your cat does look just like ours! He actually looks just like our old boy cat – you can’t beat a black cat 🙂 LOVE the snow and her dress! GORGEOUS! x
She really does. YOu can’t they are the best cats. Thank you lovely x
I love your igloo. We once made a snow cave at the Grandparent’s and it was the most amazing thing. They’ll remember that forever 🙂
It was a lot of fun. And ours is still standing in parts xx
It’s definitely hard letting go as they get older isn’t it? You’ll be amazed at the confidence levels Lucas comes back from his P7 trip with! <3
It is so hard, I think he will. It’s bittersweet though, isn’t it? Thanks hon x
It’s lovely to see little ones dress up and have fun. #MySundayPhoto
She loved the costume xx
That’s great. Love the sound of those book bags too but we are not fans of football here. #OrdinaryMoments
They are such great ways to get kids into reading x
What a great age for photos! Things change so quickly at that age and the weather isn’t any better! Great images.
I’m hoping it is turning a corner x
Love the igloo pic 🙂
Thank you x
She looks super cute in her costume. Her hair is gorgeous as well X #pointshoot #mysundayphoto
Thank you lovely. I do wish I had her hair too xx
In January Tallahassee, Florida (state capital) got an inch and a half of snow and school closed, businesses shut down, everyone stayed home. Florida is a warm state – no one has snow moving equipment and most of us don’t have shovels for snow either. Love her costume and her snow photo.
That is crazy isn’t it? We are at least equipped to deal with it. Thank you. She loves the costume x
Sounds like you had a busy week, despite the snow. Football, in that cold, how do they do it. ❄️
Love that dress too.
Always busy. I know, I think that about football too. Thank you x
Gorgeous photos. Gosh, the snow seems like ages ago for us now, nightmare that it has still been disrupting you. I’m glad things are getting back to normal now. I hope the football season goes well. Love the Goldilocks outfit, it really suits her! #keepingitreal
Nat.x
It went on for soooo long. Glad it’s away now. Thank you lovey x
I hope the boys weren’t too disappointed that football was cancelled. The igloo was so good no wonder they were disappointed to see it go. I loved Aria in her Goldilocks dress. She really does suit that colour. Thank you for linking up to #pointshoot 📷
They were ok, they got to go last weekend. It was fun. Thank you lovely x
whilst i did enjoy the snow i was grateful to get back to normal, despite the cold
It is fun at the time x
Aria looks fab in her Goldilocks costume. Our World Book Day was postponed and so happened yesterday. Looking out of the window at the moment we may be making an igloo tomorrow!
Thank you lovely. Did you get to make an igloo? x
Oh look at her in that Goldilocks costume – what a sweetheart! The story sacks sound like a fab idea. Owl Babies is one of our favourites too. x #PointShoot
Thank you. Story sacks are fab, aren’t they? x
