So, it turned out after last weeks weekly photo post we had a relatively quiet weekend. Ok, after I defrosted watching football. That almost took the entire weekend. No kidding. At 8:30 last Saturday, Robert was out the door with Tyler to his match and I was out the door with Lucas to his match. I stood on those sidelines after helping set up goals until 10:30 in goodness knows how cold condition. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to drive home without snapping a frozen arm off. Ok, I might be exaggerating, but anyone who has stood on a game sideline being a cheerleader mum or dad will know it’s so cold. But, the kids love it and don’t seem to notice. We went home, hot showers all round, had lunch and played some games and lego in the afternoon. Thankfully, my mum watched Aria so she got to stay nice and warm.
Sunday, we didn’t leave the house until the boys had futsal in the evening. Aria and I made lots of slime. She just loves making it and does it pretty much all by her self these days. We had some much-needed downtime. Things always seem so manic and we have a so much on coming up.
Monday, I captured the beautiful, calm and serene sunset from the car. Don’t worry, I wasn’t driving, but can you believe that is in the middle of a spaghetti junction of roads. Sights like this make me remember that I need to pause, breathe and be in the moment, even if it’s for a second. It was my mum’s birthday and I tried to get home to give her, her birthday cake before Robert and Lucas headed out for football. It was some good cake.
Tuesday was such a hectic day, you know I find my short working days a bit of a struggle, but this one I had a few extra kids, we made slime. Picked up the boys from school football, made lasagne, drained the broken dishwasher and found out how to change the lights in the bathroom. All before the kids bedtime. I was so done adulting that day, we just ate copious amounts of ice-cream. The boys have had a lot of stuff going on, it’s been difficult to help and not want to just wrap them back up in cotton wool. If only we could do that forever. I’m not the only one, surely?
Sleeping cat was our midweek treat, she’s such a sweetie and her coat is so soft. She does look a bit like she’d claw my eyes out in my sleep! Lots going on in my head, and a pretty sky always puts some clarity on the situation, so I captured another one them.
Friday was a nice day, I did some writing and got my hair cut and got the kids. Aria was sad when I picked her up, but didn’t last long. I was going to be going to a friend’s book launch, but my mum got unwell and couldn’t watch the kids. It looks like it went well. Thank goodness for twitter and social media, you can be there without being there. I am writing this Friday evening since I have a busy weekend ahead. A friends 40th birthday party, both boys football matches and a game of family ten pin bowling. What about you?
Isaac has been making slime too, following on from British Science Week. Other than a quick work trip to Dusseldorf for me, it’s been a quiet week for us, which is no bad thing as we have relatives from Canada staying with us over Easter. Much to do to make the house slightly more habitable before they arrive!
That is good it has been a quiet week. Hope you have fun with your Canadian relatives. Slime is fab for getting them interested in science x
Sounds like life is a little less hectic now. I do love that sunset, you get some stunning skies.
It is and it isn’t, this weekend didn’t quite go to plan xx
Ahh! I cheat when it comes to slime….I buy it. lol
It sounds like a great week. I hope you’ve had a good weekend x
That sounds like a good idea. It didn’t quite go to plan x
Sounds like you had a busy week! Hopefully you get the chance to relax this weekend! x
I was hoping to, but it didn’t quite to as planned x
I am hoping your arm has defrosted. I also hope you house isn’t covered in slime. My kids also like making the stuff but it’s been smeared all over the carpets and furniture and I am not happy! As for my week, you really don’t want to know Susan!
It has just about 😉 The kids love making it and it isn’t messy here, so I’m all good. Oh no, hope this week is better x
I think it’s amazing that Aria makes her own slime. It sounds like you’ve had a tough week. I hope things calm down a bit for you all this week.
She does it all the time, the only thing she doesn’t do it the colouring as I have gel colour and it would be a nightmare. This weekend wasn’t the best, but thing have got better xx
My twin girls love making slime always ends up in a big mess haha! #mysundayphoto
It does seem to be the in thing. It doesn’t seem to make a mess here. They enjoy it.
Slime seems to be the in thing at the moment, my girls love the stuff.
Gorgeous photos from the week.

Happy Birthday to your mummy. Hope she had a really brilliant day. It is absolutely freezing standing on the sidelines not moving but you’re right, kids don’t seem to
mind it one bit. I hope you manage to have a calmer week this week. It’s been crazy for us but I reeeeeallt hope we get up to Scotland on Thursday x
It was so cold. She did have a good day. Hasn’t been great this weekend. Thank you. Hope you have a great trip x
I am so mean, I won’t let mine have slime, cos it’s not my thing. I love the cat and butterfly photo!
#mysundayphoto
That is fair enough, some people don’t like it. Thank you lovely xx
I’ve tried making slime, it worked once then never since? Sounds like you have a busy weekend, have a great one. I wrap my kids up in cotton wool too, you are definitely not alone.
It is a lot of fun. Give me a shout if you need a hand. It didn’t quite go to plan. lol, glad it’s not just me x
The boy is yet to discover slime thankfully. Love the butterfly! #silentsunday
It is a lot of fun. Thank you x
I’m afraid as parents of kids who like to play football you’re weekends will never be your own again, but I’m sure you’ve already worked that out…lol. hope the weather improve=s for you and you can enjoy being outside a bit more #365
This is very true. I have been doing it for a while now. It was nice on Saturday, still cold, but dry. xx
Your weeks are so busy they make my head spin, I’m glad you have time to appreciate the little things like sunsets and cats. I hope you are having a fantastic weekend, it does sound fun, if a little busy. Do you ever slow down?

#mysundaysnap
lol they are just the usual. I love sunsets and pretty clouds, they keep me grounded. It wasn’t the best weekend, but it turned out ok. Erm, I don’t know any different x
Busy week and beautiful photos. Love the cute slime pic and gorgeous sunset.
Thank you lovely x
I don’t think I could handle the cold of being a football mum! You need one of those walk-in sleeping bags to wear! Athena and Troy haven’t discovered slime yet – it’s only a matter of time! x
lol needs must and all. Oh now there’s a plan. How is that possible? It is a lot of fun xx
That has got to be the cutest shirt. <3
Thank you
I love your daughters butterfly wings! I know my two daughters would love those! Wish I could be a cat and curl up on the sofa!!
They are really lovely xx
I love those wings. Great article!
Thank you
You’ve got such a pretty butterfly there #365
Thank you lovely x
It is really nice to have a weekend of downtime sometimes. Your new haircut looked lovely too (I saw your photo on IG). I love Aria’s butterfly wings. Thank you for linking up to #pointshoot 📷
I think so too. Thank you lovely x
I love your new haircut Susan it looks amazing I saw it on facebook earlier and it really suits you. That Sunset is beautiful and yes its been so cold lately I am so glad I missed the snow last weekend as I think I have had enough x
Aww thank you lovely. Such a nice thing for you to say. I was glad we missed the snow x
Some calm moments within the hecticness. Hope the birthday party was good. I do love the colours in that sky.
It was. I didn’t actually get to go, unfortunately. My mum took ill x
Loving those butterfly wings. I know a little girl who would really like them too 🙂
She would message me if you want the link to get them. x
only the most dedicated of parents freeze to death week after week, glad you eventually managed to get warm.
Pretty sunset, nice as the passenger you managed to capture it.
Great butterfly wings.
lol this is true. Thank you. I get a few that way. xx
Hi Susan, your week always sounds so busy, but it is nice to see children enjoy doing something, whether it’s futsal or making slime. I am intrigued, what does Aria do with all her slime?… Sunrises and sunsets are a good excuse to stop and take a breath. Your photo looks lovely especially with the water looking like a mirror… It’s a shame you couldn’t get to your friends’ book launch, she’ll have t write another one just so you can go to her second book launch!
Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal.
xx
They do a lot and it’s all about fitting it in around work, etc. Aria just loves slime. They really are. Thank you. I am sure she will. Thanks lovely x
Freezing on the football side line sounds awful but I imagine it’s lovely to watch them grow and get better at a sport. My little ones are a bit young for slime making but they love a bit of dress up and I love the butterfly costume. #TheOrdinaryMoments
It’s not too bad, they do enjoy you being there. Slime is great fun. Thank you lovely x
oh gosh, my son’s don’t really know you can make slime yet, one day hopefully when they are a bit older as they are quite manic with it, lol. I love the cat, gorgeous X #pointshoot
I am sure they will soon. It’s fab. Thank you x
I watched the Easter bonnet parade at school yesterday and I took all evening to warm up from that! I hope you have a good Easter weekend.
Aww that sounds lovely. Hope you have a great Easter lovely xx
Beautiful sunset! I’m not sure I’m ready for either football or slime, but since I have two boys, one of whom is already into football, it’s clearly in my future! I guess I need to find lots of layers and a warm coat 🙂 It’s not so bad for the kids – they’re running around and keeping warm!
It’s a great sport to get them into. Thank you lovely x
It’s so difficult fitting it all in! Juggling writing, work, the kids. We are not at the football weekends yet … although with two boys I’m sure it will happen! Hope you have a lovely Easter. #OrdinaryMoments
Thank you lovely. Have a great Easter x
It’s a great idea to take photos throughout the week to show what you got up too. My children are super keen on slime too at the moment but we have never made it ourselves #keepitreal
Slime seems to be in the in thing. It is something I’ve done since I started my blog x
