Last weekend didn’t quite go to plan with what I’d said in my weekly photo post for Sunday. I woke up not feeling great and really didn’t feel like going swimming, so Aria and I took a walk to my mum’s house, Aria scootered. Since she’s just moved, it is a novelty for Aria so she was quite happy to go and see Granny’s house. Plus, now it’s within walking distance we can. My inlaws are within walking distance as is my sister in law, so we are very lucky. The sun was shining and the boys were at futsal with their dad, but boy was it cold. Our hands were freezing by the time we got in. It was good to blow the cobwebs away, so to speak. I did capture the pretty rainbow sky picture that evening.
Monday it was back to work and school as normal. Boys have musical theatre and Aria has an afterschool sports club so it means none of them finishes until later on a Monday. My mum had them, so they had a bit of fun with her until we got in from work. Robert had a coaching course thingy, technical term, on Monday evening, so I did the football run and delivered the stuff to the other coaches. I am so glad I don’t do that every week, it was freezing and I am sure the kids were eyeing me up as a target!
Tuesday was a cold one and it’s a day that I now work school hours. It means I get to drop the kids off, dash to work, try to fit in a whole 9 am to 6 pm day into fewer hours and rush home to get them from school. The boys had football, so when I went to pick up Aria I was surprised to see Tyler coming out to tell me he wasn’t feeling great. He looked awful, but was ok, just a bit achy. I was also picking up a few other kids to drop them home, as you do. I do really struggle on these days, I don’t feel I can give enough of my time to the kids as I still need to do house chore stuff like empty the dishwasher, make dinner and tidy and don’t feel I can do work well. Anyone else feel like this? But, I do get to pick them up and do their homework. I do like being there for them more though. Tyler also had a special package waiting for him when he got home. He was over the moon, I will let you read about it in his post The Sad Vampire.
By the time I picked up Lucas from football the snow was on, coming down thick and fast. I was supposed to tWaking up on Wednesday morning, it was a blanket of thick white snow. Not again, we thought. The school closed, so we took the kids to Robert’s mum and dad’s as it was their turn to watch them. Robert and I braved the weather to head to work, thankfully he drives when we are both in the office full days. With the red weather warning coming into play, I decided it was safer to close the office and for those of us who got into work from home. We have never had a red weather warning and it was certainly justified. The snow has been horrendous with the snowdrifts causing a lot of chaos. This was pretty much it for the rest of the week. Like most of us, Thursday was spent juggling the kids being home and trying to work and make sure the engineers were ok. The boys went sledging for a bit, but the wind was so strong it was like a snow tornado, so they came back not long after. We went out a few times, but it was too gusty to have any fun in the snow.
Come Friday, the shops were pretty much empty, no bin uplifts for this week, no mail since Tuesday and we are feeling cabin fever kick in. I went outside with the kids and we built an igloo. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Ok, it didn’t have a complete roof, but it was implied and they could sit in it. There’s something to tick off my bucket list. We had fun and are just about thawed out.
We have some supplies to get us through the next few days. Saturday should have seen the boys have their first football matches of the season. Lucas on his last season of 7’s before moving to 11’s and Tyler in his first season of 7’s. However, it got cancelled no surprise. Not sure what else we will get up to. We will see what the weather has in store.
What are your plans? Have you had snow? Have you enjoyed it or are you over it now?
You do so well juggling everything, I think you are amazing. Life is always pullig you in too many directions but you are great at keeping the important things going. Lovely photos and what fun you had with your snow days.
Thank you lovely. I try and don’t always feel like I achieve it. xx
Aww you are so sweet. I think you are amazing x
The big difference Susan, is that you’ve had proper snow. We had about 5cm at the most and this was enough to close school for four days! We did al ot of sledging, but there simply wasn’t enough for igloo building.
We did have a lot of snow and weren’t able to drive. I think we are a bit more used to it than down south. x
We had so much school. It was crazy x
Your igloo is super cool, wish we had attempted something like that but its too late now, our snow has all but gone. That sky is so pretty
Thank you lovely. It was a lot of fun xx
Your igloo is amazing and THAT sky is a stunner. We had tonnes of snow here – I am starting to get cabin fever now! #MySundayPhoto
Thank you lovely Nice to see you over x
It has been the same here in the Peak District Susan. Although I love to see the snow, I will be glad when Spring finally arrives. It looks like the children had lots of fun x
I am so glad it’s going away now. They did have fun x
Glad it’s lifting. x
That looks like a cool igloo, we got more snow here than I can ever remember. The rain yesterday seems to have washed it all away now.
Thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
It was so much fun, but glad it’s away now xx
What a fabulous igloo and love the rainbow sky. Aria is such a beautiful name. Have a great Sunday #mysundayphoto
Thank you very much xx
Lovely photos of them enjoying the snow. Our igloo lacked a lot more than the roof. Difficult to balance it all. Slightly envious of the idea of having so many relatives living near. Wish I could walk to some of ours. Hope life gets back to normal for you soon. #MySundayPhoto
That igloo is amazing! We haven’t had much snow here at all! X #project365
So much snow x
I love that igloo shot #MySundayPhoto/365
Thank you x
Your snow sounds horrendous! So glad you got to build your igloo though.
I think you do brilliantly with juggling parenting with working so many hours, it really is tough! I know that a lot of things my kids do, they wouldn’t be able to do if I still worked in an office. Life is definitely easier working from home, but I could still do with more hours in the day!
Hope life is back to normal for you this week. x
It was a lot of fun to build the igloo. It is hard to juggle, but it’s both ways xx
It’s been such a crazy week hasn’t it? I don’t think I ever remember there being a red alert before, ever! The igloo is so cool though and glad you managed to juggle it all. Let there be sunshine soon eh?
It has been crazy weather wise. Fingers crossed for sunshine xx
We are lucky, the heavy snow didn’t really arrive until Friday, although we’ve been stuck inside since then. I’m sure cabin fever will hit very soon. I love the igloo, and your two little ones squashed inside. That rainbow sky is amazing, I always love your sky photos, you must be watching it all the time 🙂
It has been a nightmare with all the snow. Glad it is away now. I do watch the sky often, especially from the office xx
It looks like they had lots of fun in the snow. Someone near us built an igloo on Wednesday and it has just started to melt today #MySundayPhoto
It was crazy, wasn’t it? x
Oh my goodness, that sky is incredible, the colours are stunning x #ordinarymoments #sundayphoto
Thank you lovely xx
Ah I love these photos… the sky looks amazing.
I love that photo of the snow in her hands. Beautiful.
Thank you so much for linking up #SilentSunday xx
Thank you. They do make nice photos xx
I dug the car out of the snow today so I may have some sort of chance of being able to get Max to school tomorrow! Not looking forward to their car park though – it’ll be absolutely covered. 🙁
It’s been amazing to witness, but I’m so over the snow now – looking forward to it going away now lol! Glad you’re all enjoying it and staying safe! x
It has been crazy hasn’t it. Glad it is all away now xx
The snow has been so bad this week and you had it worse up there. I do love your igloo – it’s nice to enjoy the snow whilst its here.
It was pretty bad. Glad you got to enjoy it too x
It sounds like you’ve had a busy week juggling everything. I love the igloo you made!
We have had plenty of snow but thankfully now it seems to be melting thanks to the rain x
It has been, always seems to be as you know. Thank you x
Amazing igloo! We certainly got cabin fever here. The village was cut off for four days, never known anything like it. Hope you can get back to normality and are feeling better #silentsunday
It has been crazy weather, hasn’t it. Hoping that’s the last of it xx
Love the snow photos. We had snow Wed to Friday, and a bit on Saturday night. It wasn’t too much but the drifts on the roads were bad so school was closed on Friday. N build a roofless igloo too – he had the help of one of the lodgers from the farm. He always gets others to help him
Thank you lovely. Roofless ones are the way to go 😉 xx
I love the igloo picture so much and the sky is amazing!
Thank you lovely x
I remember about 9 yrs ago Hairmyres making the decision to close the hospital and all day patients, staff and visitors being locked in as the snow came down so quickly. DD2 had to get DD1 to come up and deal with her dog, was 2 days before shegot back into the village, a local pub fed them and gave them floor space.
Good you and hubby work together and can car share.
Beautiful sky picture and well done on building most of the igloo, enough to tick off your list.
Yes, it does seem to have it’s own ecosystem there. Thank you lovely and yes it was good to tick that off xx
My whole family are also within walking distance, it’s nice to be close. The photos are lovely and the kids look like they loved the snow. You are such a busy lady you must be exhausted in the evenings. Hope you are feeling a lot better now and have a lovely week.
It is nice that they are all close and my kids are close with their cousins. I am tired, but it’s the only time to blog and write, isn’t it? x
I love your igloo! We saw one on our way to school on Friday which I thought was a pretty good effort as we couldn’t get the snow to stick together to make a snowman!
It was a lot of fun, but glad it’s gone now xx
Part of me is so envious of the sheer amount of snow you have and the other part of me is so glad our snow has gone!! x
We had sooooo much snow. Glad it’s gone now xx
These are great pics and it sounds like the snow has brought you lots of fun! Yup, here in Yorkshire we had plenty and we have had a fab time too with it x
It was fun, but kinda had enough now xx
Aw your children are all so photogenic, I love the one of them in the igloo. I can’t believe you managed to build an igloo, that is so amazing! I can imagine that you are completely done with the snow now, I would be.
Aww thank you. Yes, I am so over the snow x
love the igloo!! I know where to come when we next need one hahah!!
Definitely lovely xx
Your sky photos are always beautiful but this one is extra special with all of those stunning colours. My boys wanted us to have snow too but we only
Managed a smattering. What a great igloo and I love the shot as they looks so comfortable and proud of their creation and rightly so! Thank you for linking up to #PointShoot 📸
Popping back from #keepingitreal 💕
Thank yu x
Thank you so much lovely. I was lucky to capture it. I love the snow, but a bit fed up now x
Lovely photos and that last one is my favorite. You have captured amazing colours! #mysundayphoto
I was lucky to capture it. Thank you lovely x
awww it is tough when we are faced with challenges, you do amazingly well. I love the igloo that is super cool. I saw in the metro the other day that someone was selling their own handmade igloo for £50,000, lol X #pointshoo
It is hard isn’t it? Oh really, that is insane xx
Love the igloo I’m sure my eldest would love it too #MySundayPhoto
It is so much fun xx
That sky is amazing! Such lovely photos in the snow too – I’m definitely ready for warmer weather now x
Thank you lovely. I am so over the winter now xx
Gorgeous photos as always and I agree what a fab igloo.
Thank you lovely xx
Hi Susan, I still feel like I battle to fit everything in and my two are all grown up. I try not to stress though, time with the family is important and food is important, but housework not so. It’ll still be there tomorrow!… I bet Tyler soon perked up with his surprise, I hope he didn’t get any iller… I don’t envy you all that snow, it sounds like there was too much even to enjoy, but how perfect that you have family close at hand to help out with the children, that must be a great help.
Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal.
xx
It does keep a bit hard to keep up with it all, doesn’t it? Thank you lovely. I am very lucky xx
Beautiful photos! ✨ I’m happy the snow is gone now, though it was a little bit of fun as well as being a bleepin’ bother 😉x
I am so glad it is gone. So much hassle x
Oops forgot the #PointShoot 😊
thank you xx
Love the igloo and the snow, we had proper snow also in South Wales, thankfully the flat is in town and due to people not being able to get in, we had no issues with supplies until the mad rush as it started to thaw
It was a bit crazy, wasn’t it.
