Now, where did I get to from last week’s weekly photo post? Last weekend was pretty much fuelled by football and all of us being cold, wet and muddy. As you can see in the photo above, taken far too early on a Saturday morning, the boys looked smart in their football strips for the first game of the season. Both boys were playing at pretty much the same time. I was with Tyler and Robert coaches Lucas team, so he was there. Aria braved as much of the cold, ice rain as she could, before retreating back to the car. They both played fantastic, considering the weather, and it is their first game, all the teams were outstanding. This year sees Tyler play his first year of 7 aside and Lucas his final year. It is a big step for Tyler’s team and their parents, as previous games were played indoors. We are old pros at this, but I’ve still never learned how to dress appropriately for watching a match outdoors. There’s me in my heeled, knee-high boots and lovely red coat, no hat or gloves, shivering away, covered in mud. I wouldn’t swap it for the world, when you see the sheer joy on their faces when playing, especially Lucas, whether he wins or loses, he just loves it. It makes the sacrifices Robert makes to coaching 4 nights a week and everything else, worth it, it really does. When will I learn? Today, Saturday will see me wearing, probably the same. This time, I will be at Lucas game and Robert at Tyler’s. Aria managed to talk her gran into watching her, so she can stay indoors. Sensible girl, that one.
The rest of the weekend, we spent defrosting. Sunday was Mother’s Day. It was lovely, I got some homemade cards and some gifts. Robert went to watch the football, an old firm derby here in Glasgow. Let’s not talk about that! The kids and I stopped by my mums to say hi and hand over some cards, etc. The photo of our three generations was taken last year, but it is one of the only ones I have with my mum. She has the opposite of my hair with natural curls. The kids went out to play and then we all went to Robert’s parents for a family meal together. It was a nice way to end the day.
Monday it was back to work and school. I then got a phone call to say that Lucas wasn’t well and could I pick him up from school. Never had him sent home before. I work in another town, so my mum picked him up. He had a sore stomach. He seemed ok by the time I got home and he wanted to go to football training. Can’t fault his dedication. He was fine, but then I was up all night with him with pains in his stomach. Aria also wasn’t feeling great in the morning, so both ended up off school. I worked from home, thankfully as it was my short day, so didn’t have anyone else to watch them. They both lay on the couch watching some tv and colouring in. Lucas was gutted to miss football training, but that’s what happens. Tyler was at a party, so the other two read some books and chilled.
Wednesday, it was all go. Both kids feeling better and Lucas played in the football festival at school, netball training and then football training at night. Both Robert and I spoke to him about staying off them, but he was fine and full of energy. I wish I had half it. I met one of my friends for lunch, which was lovely. So nice to get out of work for a bit, have a blether and catch up. It was needed. I didn’t get home from work until after 8 pm so Aria was sleeping and I missed her bedtime story. So she made me read 4 on Thursday night to make up for it. I couldn’t really say no, now could I?
The pink sky I put on my Instagram to go with my favourite Stephen Hawking quote; “Remember to look up at the stars, not down at your feet. Be curious.” This has inspired me so many times and you see I always look up and capture those skies. I was sad to hear of his passing, he was a brilliant man, who will be missed.
Aria got to have a wee shot on her bike on Friday, she loved it and she’s doing fantastic. I wasn’t sure how she’d be as it’s a bit bigger than her last one. But, off she went. I am amazed at how well she does at such a young age. The boys certainly weren’t riding without stabilisers when they were 4. She’s just so stubborn and determined. It has been so cold, so she wasn’t out for long, but loved it. Hopefully, she gets out more over the weekend. I got some writing done on Friday, so that pleased me and it’s going well. I will update you all on that soon. What are your plans for this weekend? How has your week been?
How was the football this week? It’s been freezing down here with a dusting of snow, so can only imagine how bitterly cold you must be! That pink and purple sky looks amazing though!
It went well. Oldest’s games weren’t as good, but little boy was. It was so cold though. It was lovely x
Love all your photos, great work Avia on the new bike and I do like the photo of 3 generations of you girls.
Aww thank you lovely xx
Hi Susan, Aria looks adorable on her bicycle, she’s a natural poser. Your boys photos make me laugh, they’ve not got the natural look of your daughter… It’s great that you have such an active family, good habits are created at a young age, so hopefully, they’ll stay active into adulthood. Although the thought of standing supporting them from the sideline on a cold Saturday morning in Scotland does not appeal to me one bit! That sky is really pretty and well worth looking up for.
xx
She loves her new bike. My middle boy does, but my oldest is not comfortable in front of the camera. I am so not active though. The sky is always worth it x
I bet your children and husband keep you plenty active enough at the moment… It feels like an age since we’ve seen a nice sunrise or sunset, at the moment all we have are clouds (again!).
Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal.
xx
They good. I tend to seek them out xx
Oh gosh, an old firm match in Glasgow, yes, best not talk about that all! You may have spent the week defrosting, but as from Friday we’ve been re-frosting! Great shot of the three generations together and what a lovely sunset.
Oh yes, let’s not talk about the game 😉 I am just about defrosted and we hardly had any snow. Thank you xx
So happy on her new bike. What a pose. Great sunset too, those colours! #mysundayphoto

Wow to the sky.
Aria looks so grown up riding her bike.
Thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
It was such a pretty sky. She is looking too grown up since she started school xx
Ahh lovely photos. Such a cute photo mastering the bike. Well done little one 🙂
Thank you for linking up to #SilentSunday xx
Thank you lovely. xx
Gosh you busy lady. Glad the children are all better now, good that you are able to work from home when they are ill. Zac was riding his bike at 4 too, he has a balance bike from the age of 2, I think it was because of having that first. Hope it’s not too cold for you watching football this weekend, it’s freezing again here.
Always busy hon, you know what it’s like. It was only because it was my short day that I worked from home. The balance bikes are fantastic, aren’t they? It was soooo cold x
What a busy week of football, I really admire the dedication to football, even though Lucas wasn’t well. Glad they are all better now. Well done to Aria for riding her bike! My daughter managed it at 4 too, but the boys were both 5.
I do laugh at the thought of you dressed for football watching! Like you, I’ve spent far too many years on cold touchlines and I learnt fast how to dress for the weather! Layers, layers and more layers. Always gloves, often a hat and either wellies with thick socks or walking boots.
It is their favourite thing to do. The boys, like yours, were a little later. Lol I tried to be a bit better dressed this time. x
Well done to Aria on her bike riding – H was a lot later. Glad Lucas is better now.
The boys were like that. She’s just so determined xx
Your girl sounds just like Rex is going to be – such a determined soul. I love that pink sky – and the photo of the 3 ladies 🙂 #MySundayPhoto
I think you are right. Thank you lovely. I hope you are well x
A gorgeous sky photo this week and a lovely quote to go with it, RIP Stephen Hawking.
I love seeing Aria on her bike, and the boys in their football kits. I can just imagine how they look when they get home. And of course the photo of you, Aria and your Mum is precious, I’m glad you had a lovely Mother’s Day. Your life always sounds so busy and reminds me so much of when my older children were little and I was working and juggling. It’s tiring, but rewarding too. I get so stressed out now by the little things, going out is a big deal for me.
Best wishes for a lovely week ahead, and I hope there are no sick bugs to disrupt it x
#mysundayphoto #mysundaysnap
Thank you lovely. It is my favourite one. They are a tad wet and dirty, yes. Thank you, I need to get some more. It is rewarding. I think you just have to get on with it, don’t you? Thank you, you too xx
Good for Aria on the bike riding. N was the same, riding at 4yo (but his cousin at 9 still can’t ride one, but isn’t bothered). We’ve got snow down here today and it’s freezing, so won’t be doing anything today, apart from clearing out the sink because our dishwasher seems to be draining to the wrong place. Sigh
She loves it. My boys weren’t quite as keen back them. It has been so cold. What a nightmare, I have a broken dishwasher too xx
Lovely bike, it’s great for kids to ride from an early age. I LOVE that last shot!! #MySundayPhoto
I think so too. The boys were a little older. Thank you xx
Aria looks so happy on the bike and it sounds like Lucas and Tyler are doing well with their football. I have to say I don’t envy you freezing watching on the sidelines but glad that it’s all worth it! Love that photo of you, Aria and your mum 🙂
They love their football, it was so cold but worth it. Thank you lovely xx
Aria is certainly riding her bike very well at 4. Love the photo of the pink sky and hope the weather will be warmer soon for football training
She loves it. I hope the weather improves too xx
There has been a lot of football in your week….
It looks like Aria really loves her bike. She sounds like such a determined girl.
Lovely photos. That sky is amazing x
So much football all the time here. She is such a determined girl xx
She looks so happy on her bike! The boys look happy about football too!
#mysundayphoto
She loves it and yes, so do they xx
Your football stars look great. How old is your girl? How great she can ride a bike like that!
My little girl was 5 end of January. She taught herself last summer when she was only 4 1/2 and has been going ever since. She’s very stubborn and determined xx
What a glorious pink sky! Aria looks so cute and confident on her bike. The three generations’ photo is beautiful.
What a busy football-packed week, though the weather wasn’t perfect for any outdoors activities.
She really loves riding her bike. Always packed and the weather is so bad this time of year, isn’t it? Thanks for stopping by xx
I have no idea how you manage to do the football week in week out – whatever the weather. You need a high five for that! x
Hubby coaches too. It is a lot, but they love it xx
Great that she manages a bike without stabilisers at such a young age, I remember the stage of taking them off and putting them back on with DD2 as she just could not master it, the 3 year old boy in the next block laughed at her when she was 6 and still using them, that was the incentive she needed to get her going without them.
you need a waterproof wind proof jacket and a hat and gloves, brave woman for going without,
She has been great at it, the boys took a lot longer. Awee bless. I need something, I was frozen xx
Nice bike Aria! Glad you enjoyed your Mother’s Day gifts Susan. They are certainly dedicated to their football!
They really are, the whole family is. It was a nice day x
Lovely photos, riding a bike can be really tricky so congratulations on that X #pointshoot
She is so determined. x
Loved the shot of Aria on the bike, she looked so proud. That pink sky was amazing 💕 Thank you for linking up to #PointShoot 📸
Thank you lovely. Thanks for hosting x
Lovely photos but I don’t know when you have time to take pictures. The life of a busy mother. Hope everyone is well. My fav pics were the 3 generations and the pink sky. Of course your little one conquering a bike is fabulous too.
I snap them mainly from my phone. A lot of sky ones I take on my travel home from work. She is very determined x
That pink sky is amazing and I love her face on the bike, how happy is she x
She truly loves it. Thank you lovely xx
What a lovely photograph of you three ladies together. I try to get more photographs like this myself.
It is never easy, is it? But we must. Please do it next time you are all together x
Your daughter looks really pleased with herself and I love the pink sky. #PointShoot
She does love riding her bike x
Great photos! The kid is loving her new bike. Photos of a happy family. They are so lovely to look at.
She loves the bike. Thank you x
