Last weekend didn’t quite go to plan after I left you with my weekly photos post on Friday. I’d mentioned that my mum wasn’t well on Friday, I ended up with her at the hospital on Saturday. Which meant I didn’t make it to the party with not getting home until late. She got some help and is doing a bit better, so that’s the main thing. These things happen. It resulted in a long, hot Saturday being in the hospital. I was knackered when I got home. I had made it to see Tyler’s football match in the morning, it was cold, but sunny, making a nice change.
Sunday we went for a wee game of ten pin bowling as we haven’t been for ages and I had a voucher. The kids love it. It was a lot of fun and Aria only went and one. Lucas was not happy. After that, we went to see one of our twin nieces football match. She used to play with Lucas and Robert’s team, but now she plays for an all-girl team and is really enjoying it. It was great to watch. In the afternoon the kids decorated their eggs for the Easter Activity day at school while I checked in on my mum. Aria chose to make a unicorn inspired egg from our friend Jen Mum in the Madhouse blog post. She loved it from the moment I showed her it, thanks for the inspiration, Jen. Lucas went for a gumball machine and Tyler went with Yoda. My new glue gun came in very handy for these. How did I ever do without one?
Monday it was back to work and would have been back to school for the kids, but all three ended up poorly during the night. All with different complaints. They weren’t too bad, so it was grandparents to the rescue while I was at work. Thankfully, it was shortlived and Lucas was feeling so much better when we got home that he went to football training.
Tuesday I was doing a long day at work as I needed Wednesday off to help at school. The boys had school football and Tyler had football training. In the evening, Robert, Lucas and I went to a meeting at school to discuss Lucas residential trip coming up later on this month. It sounds wonderful and it looks like he will have the best time. Not so sure I will while he is away. I am going to miss him so much, but I need to think of the memories he’ll make and the skills he’ll learn. It is such a big step as your oldest moves from primary to high school. One I am not sure I will ever be ready for.
Wednesday I had the day off and helped at the school’s Easter Activity day. It is run by parent council, so we rely on helpers to get the items, create the games, run the activities and food. We don’t get a lot of volunteers, but the ones we do, do an amazing job. I was there all day and on the food and colouring activity. It’s always busy and my feet ache by the end of the day, but it’s fun as I can chat with the kids and who doesn’t like the snack table? The kids all entered the decorated egg, garden or bonnet. Aria and her best friend were picked as winners for their class so they were chuffed. My kids enjoy me being in the school and look forward to these days. I have to say I enjoy it too. I get to see what they are up to, speak with the teachers and staff, but what made this one really good was seeing how much Aria has come in since the Halloween activity day. You know I’ve spoken often about how worried I was about her shyness and clinginess to me. This time I watched her, from afar, joining in with all the activities, chatting with her peers and enjoying it. She wasn’t clingy to me, she spoke to me but seemed to have a great time. It was lovely to see and I was chuffed when I came home. We got some easter eggs, which mean that Aria and Tyler had me hiding the little eggs all over the house to find while Lucas was at football.
Thursday I was back to work and the kids were at school but finished early. I spoke to my Uncle in California when I got home and he gave me a tour of the house, we are visiting over the summer. Friday, today, I have been working while the kids were off. It’s Aria’s best friend’s birthday so I am home to take a gift to her and Lucas has some football. This evening, our twin nieces are coming to stay. So that will be fun. Tomorrow we have an early morning ten pin bowling game booked with them all and Aria has a party in the afternoon. Then, it’s calorie-free chocolate day and hopefully, the Easter bunny will pay us a visit.
Oh, I also got my hair all chopped. 7 inches off the back and a little longer at the front. What do you think?
What are your plans for Easter weekend? I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and celebrate with chocolate and friends and family.
Hi Susan, I hope your Mum’s feeling much better now. The school Easter activity day does sound like a lot of fun, I don’t remember anything quite as fun when I was at school. The children look well chuffed with their eggs too… Calorie free chocolate? That would be a dream come true (if it tasted good)… Your hair does look good. I’d love a bob like that but my hair just won’t humour me.
xx
Thank you lovely. She’s doing ok. It is fun, I don’t remember anything like that either. Oh yes calorie free chocolate would be good x
Hi Susan, I’ve looked into it and I can’t find any calorie-free chocolate! Oh well, we can dream.
Thank you for linking up with #keepingitreal
xx
One day I am sure there will be lovely. You are right, we can dream xx
Your hair looks fabulous! Are you pleased with it? The Easter activities sound fun, but exhausting. Love that you found time to watch your niece’s football, even though you’re so busy watching your own kids’ football! Hope your mum is feeling better. x
I do, it’s taking some getting used to. It is fun, but tiring. Roberts family watch our kids too. She’s doing a big better x
Well I won’t be getting 7inches trimmed from my hair! If only I had hair that long! Suite you, btw.
Plans for Easter? We visited friends on Good Friday and today it’s to kirk and then Sunday lunch with family while we stress/ got excited about our impending house move. Loving the unicorn egg!
Lol that did make me laugh. My husband has all his shaved.
Sounds like a good Easter weekend. Good luck for the move x
I simply love your new hair, it looks so sophisticated and really suits your face, I have been seriously tempted to cut mine since seeing yours, but have so far managed just a couple of inches off. Beautiful Eggs from the children and they look delighted with them. Happy Easter to you all.
Aww thank you lovely, such a nice thing to say. Your hair is always amazing. Such a great colour. Hope you have s lovely Easter x
The unicorn inspired egg is fun. I am not sure I could brave the chop on my hair, but it looks lovely on you. Happy Easter!
Thank you lovely. It feels so much healthier. The eggs were fun for them to do x
So sorry to hear about your Mum, I hope she’s feeling better now. I love your hair, I really must make an appointment to get mine chopped off, it’s getting way too long now. The decorated eggs look fabulous and I’m glad Aria enjoyed her Easter activity day. My kids are getting a little too old for all the Easter activities now and their schools did nothing at all to celebrate Easter, not even the Little Man’s school and he’s still in primary 🙁

Aww that’s a shame they didn’t do anything, it’s such a great way to incorporate crafts into school or home life. She’s doing a bit better, thank you. I’m getting used to it x
Your hair looks amazing. 👍❤️Sorry to hear about your mum, glad she’s a lot better. Sorry you missed your party. Love the unicorn egg. Skyes just brought herself a unicorn 🦄 head rest and eye mask for the aeroplane from primark. Seriously it’s massive, like we haven’t already got enough to take on the plane! 🤦♀️ Everyone is unicorn mad at the minute, but it is kinda cute, don’t tell her I said that though 😂. We’ve not been bowling for ages, we still use the old Wii for that. Happy Easter 🐣 to all your lovely family ❤️🍫
Everyone really is unicorn daft. Hope you have a great flight & a brilliant holiday. They had fun making them. Bowling is great when the kids are different ages. Have a lovely Easter x
Love those eggs. So good. The hair looks great. And hope your mum’s feeling better now.
Thank you lovely. She’s doing a big better. They loved making the eggs. Hope you have a great Easter x

Thank you. She is thank goodness. All good x
I’m glad your mum is feeling better now….
Aria’s egg is fantastic! It sounds like you had a fab time at the school helping out.
Your new haircut looks fab! x
It was fun, but tiring. Thank you lovely x
Not good about your mum, hope she is feeling better soon.
Oh dear at three kids off sick, glad it was only minor issues, you were just saying the other week the eldest is never ill……but I suppose that is utilising the grandparents to the maximum.
Great haircut and fabulous eggs
She is getting there, thanks, Elaine. Yeah, I think I jinxed it 😉 It does make a huge difference. Thank you x
Great haircut and love the eggs, glad to hear your mum’s recovering #keepingitreal

Hi lovely, I hope your mum is feeling a lot better now. The kids eggs were fabulous and I love your hair. I’ve just had my hair chopped too, there must be something in the air. Thank you for linking up to #pointshoot 📷
Aww thank you lovely. Oh have you. Have you posted a picture? xx
Not yet as I’ve just had it done and haven’t done my colour. Too many greys 😉 Popping back from #keepingitreal
I will keep an eye out for it. xx
I like the new haircut. Your kids look adorable too!
Thank you. x
I love the unicorn egg, we are a bit obsessed with unicorns here too, especially my daughter.
If you don’t mind me asking what did you do on your activity day? I am chair of the PTA at my children’s school and it sounds like a great idea.
It is the in the thing, isn’t it? We have 10 different stations and the kids are split into groups. Each group goes to a station and then moves around. The stations are food, musical eggs, pass the bunny, we did moving bunny tails using a straw, colouring, a bunny version of the beetle drive, bunny skittles and things like that. Like party games where they can win prizes. We do the same for Halloween, but Halloween themed. It works better than a disco since it’s primary aged kids. We usually do older kids afternoon and younger one in the morning. They love it and it’s a fun day for them. Let me know if you want any further info lovely xx
Those eggs are the cutest – and I’m so glad your Mum is on the mend x
Thank you lovely. She is getting there x
hey Susan, your hair looks good!
No plans for the Easter, will see how it turns out though.
Thank you. Hope you have a good Easter.
The activity day sounds lots of fun. It’s a shame that there weren’t many volunteers. #TheOrdinaryMoments
It was a good day x
Love your new haircut! The eggs are brilliant. My son ended up with a Darth Vader Easter bonnet this year!
