Snow, Snow And Snow – Our Weekly Photos Week 3

Well if you follow me on twitter or Instagram you will know what this week has been dominated by snow, snow and well snow. We are in fact still living in what looks like Narnia and stepping into the wardrobe is not helping. Last week’s weekly photo post was all about struggling to get back into a routine after the Christmas holidays. This week we’ve been thrown out of the routine and I’m a very structured and organised person, I had a lot planned and well… it hasn’t been done.

Last Sunday, we had a lazy at home. The boys played on the Xbox for a bit, Aria and I had a tea party and then we all watched Matilda before the boys went to Futsal. It was a lovely day. Monday always come round too quickly. We went to school and work, Tyler was off sick as he had a really bad headache and sore throat. My mum had him while I was at work. It’s always a big guilt trip to leave them with those big sad eyes, giving them a hug, kiss and they hold onto you for just that bit longer. I left with a big case of guilt. He was fine. If you follow on Instagram you will see the beautiful sky that got me through the day. Football training got cancelled due to the inclement weather conditions.

Tuesday I was supposed to work school hours, but the snow has other plans. I walked the kids to school through the white, thick blanket of snow that fell through the night. I didn’t want to risk going to work and not getting back for them. As you can see in the snow boots picture it was pretty deep already. I came home and thought I’d use the day to get some writing done. After I’d done the usual chores, the school messaged to say they were closing early. No writing got done. I headed down to the school, but Tyler was doing a play so we waited in the library until he was finished. Coming home, it was time to go sledging. As you can see we had so much fun. We have snow scooters and sledges so it was fun. We thought we’d make the most of it, as you expect it to be away with the next day.

However, the snow continued to fall all night and by Wednesday, we couldn’t get out our street. We were snowed in. I expected the school to close, but the council kept them open. Neither Robert or I could get to work, so we worked from home. Working in IT, thankfully, it gives us the option if necessary. Not something I could do regularly, but it’s good to have. We took the kids to school, trudging through the snow, a snowball or two along the way. Worked from home and then back to pick the kids up. They went out to play in the snow while we worked after school.

Snow started to lift a bit, so we took the kids to school and dug the car out to at least get to work. The kids went to Robert’s mum’s after school. I wasn’t keen on them being out, as my father in law is disabled and doesn’t walk well. We picked the kids up after finally getting home. There was virtually no snow at work, but loads back home. We have been helping stuck cars on the street all week. It’s been really difficult.

Friday, I had big plans. Wrap both Tyler and Aria’s birthday gifts as it’s their birthday Sunday and Monday. Do their birthday blog posts, this blog post and hopefully some writing. As well as the chores, etc as having the family coming over Sunday for their birthdays. We woke up to yet more snow and the council closed the school. As you can see in the trees photo, the snow looks beautiful, but not ideal when you need to get stuff done. So there went my plans. We played in the snow and played indoors. I watched my friend’s little one while she was at work and then they went sledging. Got to make the most of it. I managed to get the gifts wrapped last night, Friday night, but nothing else. I think their birthday posts can wait until next week. Not like they will be reading them is it? I want to enjoy their birthdays, not worry that I haven’t done a post. What would you do?

Today, Saturday, we are still covered with snow. I’m struggling to get the ingredients to make the kids cakes as I can’t get to the big supermarket, but we will make do. My plan is to make a snow white cake and a football cake. Time will tell and wish me luck. I am also going to make a snowman with the younger two, while Lucas is away sledging with his friends. Sledging has been fun, but the snow has a crisp layer of ice. The snowman we’ve not done yet. Check out my Instagram stories for my snow video or Twitter. It is so relaxing watching the snow. It makes the world seem still and silent, doesn’t it? It is so pretty, but inconvenient at times. We are enjoying it though.

Tomorrow is Tyler’s 9th birthday and the family are coming over to celebrate both his and Aria’s which is Monday. It’s too much doing birthday dinners for the family two nights in a row. Plus it means they get to celebrate twice really. It all goes on the birthday front and then that’s it for the rest of the year. I still can’t believe Aria will be five. Have you had any snow? What have you been up to?project-365-2017-badge

I can’t believe how much snow you’d had, looks so much fun but thank goodness for being able to work from home! It’s been a pain in the bum here as there’s not enough to close schools but just enough to be a nuisance. Happy Birthday Tyler, the cake today looks so good!! 🙂

Hi Susan, this time of year is birthday busy for you. I hope everyone managed to get to you through the snow to celebrate and have a good time… That top photo is a classic, I love Arias expression. And as for the blog posts? I’d leave them until I have time rather than stress and not be able to enjoy their birthdays…. We’ve had a really lazy week. The weather has been pretty miserable and very windy, so windy that the dog wasn’t happy when I took him into the woods. It was creepy with the trees knocking together….

We had some yesterday and it looked like it was coming to stay. We were worried because we had plans in the evening, but luckily the snow didn’t stick around this time. Have a lovely week x

The snow really inconvenienced you, all of East Ayrshire schools were closed but South Ayrshire kept theirs open. WE had very little but more “up country” got plenty.

The snow looked brilliant, although it’s probably only because we haven’t had any, I can imagine it will get annoying after a while if schools close and you can’t get about.
