Last week when we spoke, in our weekly photos post, we were still in our Christmas holiday bubble and I was no ready to leave it. I had to be dragged kicking and screaming out, but we got there. How has your first week back been?
Last Sunday, we went for one last treat and went out for dinner together. It was lovely, busy, but nice. We went to a buffet style place in Glasgow which is great for kids to try something new and for those who don’t all eat the same thing. Of course, dessert is the best part and it consists of a chocolate fountain, cake and ice-cream. Aria loved the ice-cream and Lucas was a fan of the chocolate fountain as you can see. Those are jelly fried eggs he covered in chocolate. Good, apparently. It was a nice way to end the two weeks off school and I’d actually had a whole 3 weeks off work. Worked out well the way it fell, it’s the only time our work shuts and I’d not used up my holidays. It’s a busy time of year with birthdays and the house had been so neglected trying to do everything that I spent the first-week cleaning, clearing out and tiding. And some Christmas stuff of course. I truly loved the last two weeks of enjoying time as a family, nowhere to go, no football, no work or school, no emails and no blogging except these few weekly updates. It was magic. I may have had a few silent tears as I went to bed on Sunday evening after kissing the kids goodnight.
Waking up on Monday morning when that alarm went off was not pleasant. We all left for work and the kids went to school with my mum. Tyler was straight into after-school activities with volleyball. Work was such a long day, but I got through it and spotted that gorgeous sunrise on the way to work and captured it to cheer up my mood. The first day back was tough, wasn’t it?
My ears have been bad towards the end of the holiday, blocked and sore. I went to the doctors on Tuesday and have an infection in both ears along with infected sinus. Antibiotics and a steroid nasal spray will hopefully sort it up. Could be up to six weeks before I can hear correctly though and I talk quietly enough as it is. Just one of those things, I have a lowered immune system with my kidney disease, so I tend to build myself up best I can and stay as healthy as I can. I feel I am lucky it’s not worse. I’ll be fine and plodding along. Everyone seems to be catching bugs, such a shame. I hope you are all staying bug-free.
The rest of the week dragged by getting back into the routine, can you tell I am not happy about it? LOL. Football training was back for the boys and Robert. Tyler even tried out some of Aria’s hair chalk. He went for the rainbow look in the end. It looks not too bad, don’t you think? Hair chalks are a lot of fun, but better in light hair.
I captured a photo of Twilight looking very thoughtful the other day. She’s such a sweet cat, but still a bit on the feisty side, just like her red-haired friend. I had a few hours off on Friday to get a start on my writing for the year. I am hoping to make a bit of progress with it and it was good to get back into the re-write. Aria had her wee bestie over along with her sister and the sister of the boy’s friend after school. The boys were at the other house, so while she had two extra boys, I had three extra girls. It was nice to see them play.
This weekend hasn’t been exciting, everyone is tired. Today, Saturday consisted of football training for the boys and Aria and I bolted around the supermarket while they were there. Robert is out tonight, so the kids and I are watching a later than normal tv show each. Nothing much planned for Sunday. What about you? How has your week been?
