Last weekend the boys went into Glasgow with their Aunt, Uncle, cousins and their friends to record a cd with two songs for the girls birthday. While they were there we did a spot of shopping and Aria, being the determined little girl she is, decided it was time to tie her own laces and that’s just what she did. She was so proud of herself, as were we. This girl amazes me at every turn with her independence and sheer determination. We went to the train station to pick up the boys. They all had the best time and the cd was really good. In the evening we did our usual 5th of November tradition of having some chips and snacks in the car with some glow sticks while watching the fireworks. They were wonderful. I’m not great at photographing them, but captured this one next to the moon. Did you watch the fireworks?
Work and school on Monday. It was a busy week filled with football training, homework, work and life in general. Thursday Tyler wasn’t feeling so great, but went to school. That evening, Robert’s mum and dad kept the two younger ones while Robert and I picked Lucas up and took him to his high school open day.
The photo I’ve shared above is off Lucas when he started school, skip 7 years and here we are. Boy, that’s went by in a blink of an eye. I honestly can’t believe he’s in his last year of primary. The high school is huge and has 8 primaries filtering into it. Thankfully, Lucas knows quite a few others from other primaries through football. So, it’s not too many unknown people. We got to see round several different classrooms, subjects and met some teachers and support staff. All was lead by some lovely sixth years. I have to say I was impressed by the school, their transition programme and the different subjects they are taught. It’s very different to how it was when I went. I felt very anxious about it before hand, he’s my first to go to high school and I didn’t feel he was ready. Neither did he, but we both came away with a positive outlook and enthusiasm about going. He is now looking forward to it. It’s a huge step and there is a lot between now and when he goes. It’ll be an interesting year for us all I think. It has just come round way quicker than I could have imagined and not having had experience to the high school first hand, it was good to see it was a positive one from the onset.
Friday, Robert and I are both off for his cousin’s wedding. We are looking forward to it and it should be a good day. Check out my instagram for some photos and I’ll fill you in next week about how it was and what we got up to this weekend. It will be filled with football and a visit to the big red dude himself. Although a bit early. What are your plans? How has your week been?

I remember shoe laces causing all sorts of problems for my boys at much older than Aria! What a clever little girl she is.
We attended a local fireworks display on the Sunday evening, which the kids as always loved. But now the focus is on upcoming birthdays (Isaac is early December) and then, of course, Christmas.
Well done to A for tying her shoelaces! I can honestly say that my 16 year old has never really mastered it (although he will never admit it!). Starting high school is such a big step, so I’m really glad the first experience went well. They do make it very easy for kids to settle these days. I’m sure he will love it!
Clever girl on nailing the shoe laces, my youngest hasn’t mastered that skill
Thank you for linking up
I think the main problem with shoe laces is that hardly any shoes have them these days, even girls shoes have velcro rather than buckles. It does take away the ability to learn. I’ve taken time to teach all of mine, but they really don’t get much practice.

Secondary school is a big step but its amazing how quickly they settle in and both schools normally work hard to ensure the transition is smooth. Good Luck 🙂
They grow so fast. I remember vaguely having trouble learning to tie my shoes. I’d have loved velcro as a child.
Aww! Aria really is one determined little lady. Well done her!
It sounds like a lovely secondary school…They do grow up so quickly x
Lucas looks so tiny there bless him, how fast have the years flown!! I can’t believe he’s almost ready for high school. Hope the chicken pox are ok and you looked gorgeous in your dress x
Wow, high school is a biggy. I guess you guys go a year younger than we do here too. Well done Aria. That’s good going for such a young girl. Even in N’s year, there’s quite a few children who can’t do up laces.
Well done Aria on the shoelaces! 🙂 You’ll be amazed at how much Lucas grows up and how quickly once he starts high school. It’s been a fantastic experience for Zack so far and I’m sure it will be for Lucas too. xx
Oh bless her, learning independence is so satisfying isn’t it?
That’s a very reflective first photo, lovely #365
Oh well done Aria! I do miss the fireworks on 5th November but the Dutch morn than make up for it at New Year. Great capture with the moon perfectly in shot hun. I hope you enjoyed the wedding. Thank you for linking up to #PointShoot 📸

Great little faces and lovely fireworks shot–it’s not easy to shoot them so well.
Lovely photos! And fireworks too! Hard to shoot! Lovely! #pointshoot xoxo
Great fireworks photo with the moon. I see you have had a tough week with the kids being ill so I hope everybody is feeling better now.
I know exactly what you mean about primary school going in a flash. Everyone tells me that secondary school is even worse for that.
So good to see the fireworks, right? Plus I love this pic of him! He looks so much like you!#LivingArrows
Wow, busy busy. It must have been lovely to have one on one time with Aria and I can’t imagine having a child at secondary just yet! x
