Lunch, Friends, A Pretty Sky And Chatting – Our Weekly Photos Week 36

Chatting

This week I’m struggling to get into a routine, but it has been better than the week before. I think I’m still a little anxious about Aria being at school. There are a few tears when she wakes up, but they are long gone before she leaves and certainly none at the school gate. She doesn’t even look back to wave goodbye as she’s off with her friend. And to be honest, I’m ok with that. Yes it would be nice for a kiss and a hug, but I’m happy she’s going in with a smile.

Last Sunday was a bit of a disaster to be honest, Aria went to gymnastics, she was so excited before we went and she had on her leotard and leggings. When we got inside the tears started to fall, the clinging to me and the no mummy, I don’t want to go started. No matter what I said or tried, she was not going to go. After a year on the waiting list, being so excited and talking about it for so long, was over. I felt so low. I would have done anything to help her go and know she would love it, if she just got over that hurdle an tried. Instead we went home, cried and then watched a film about witches and ate popcorn and sweets. We hugged, chatted and she said she’ll try again when she’s 5. She just wasn’t ready, but I felt like I’d failed her. Silly I know. We waited until the boys came in from football and they went out to play.

Monday was a busy day at work and when I got home Aria told me all about her day. What was the best thing about school today Aria? “Lunch.” Sounds good to me and she was smiling and happy. Lucas had football training with his dad, so Tyler and I chatted about his new story he’s writing once Aria was in bed.

Tuesday, after school football, we took a wee road trip up to meet my lovely friend Jen and her lovely family, you might know her fromΒ Mum In the Madhouse. We’ve met up a few times, we’ve dropped in to visit when we’ve been in England on holiday and our boys all get on so well. While she was up in Scotland, we had to visit. The kids loved spending time with her boys and I had a great time catching up with her. This has to be one of the best things about blogging. Having met so many wonderful friends in real life too.

The rest of the week was a blur of work, football, school and I captured a glimpse of a pretty sky. You all know how much of a sucker I am for a pretty sky. I have six sense for it and have to capture them. The kids were even out with their camera’s taking photos of clouds the other day. I couldn’t have been more prouder. Hubby, just shook his head. They are as crazy as me.

Friday the sun shone and I got to pick the kids up from school. The boys were going to a friends, so Aria and I chatted, made some cookies and coloured in rainbows. It was lovely.

This weekend, we’ve not had anything exciting planned. Lucas had a football match this morning and this afternoon I cleared out my wardrobe. It was awful, but needed done. The kids had lots of fun out playing with friends in the street. Tomorrow, Sunday, Tyler has football matches and Robert has a coaching course. Not sure what else we will be doing. Oh some homework too.

What are you up to this weekend? How was your week?

Such a great collection of photos. It can be such a worrying time when your little one leaves the nest. She certainly looks happy chatting about her day! πŸ˜€

Poor Aria, she needs to spend sometime with Clio who is mad at me because her Gym closed down and the nearest one now is 3/4 hour drive and I won’t drive it the twice a week they require. She still practices on the lawn and would love to show Aria. How exciting to meet up with Jen, I’ve not seen her since the days of The MADS when we always had a good catch up.

Poor little Aria, I can remember Grace being the same about ice skating. I’m sure she’ll be just fine eventually and look forward to going. Lovely photos x

Another busy week! Glad you are feeling a bit better about things. So sorry it didn’t work out for Aria with the gymnastics, I’m sure she will go when the time is right. The first time my daughter tried ballet, she was just the same. She ended up starting street dance a year later when she felt ready and didn’t actually start ballet for another couple of years! Starting ‘late’ has never held her back!

what a shame about the gymnastics, maybe it would have been easier to go with a friend. Still, if she’s not ready then there is nothing really you can do. I love your pretty pink sky and the photo of you and Jen x

Sorry to hear gymnastics didn’t go so well… Sometimes giving them more time is the perfect remedy. And you definitely didn’t fail Aria!

That’s a shame the gymnastics didn’t work out. We’ve had similar from N whenever something changed in tennis (and not even his first one!). She’ll get there.

Sounds like Aria is settling in really nicely and I hope she likes gymnastics one day too. It sometimes can get a tiny bit much for them can’t it? So lovely you ladies got to meet up, I love that about the blog world. How there’s literally a friend everywhere!! πŸ™‚

Glad to hear Aria is settling into school so well. My son was always happy to go off and do activities without me but once he started school he became quite clingy and outside of school he never wanted to take part in anything that I couldn’t be involved in too. I guess it can be a bit unsettling for them being away from us all day throughout the week, some children just need to stay close while they can. She’ll spread her wings again when she’s ready x

Sounds like a good week all in all my lovely! I hope you’ve been able to shelve that mama-guilt about Aria and gymnastics sweety. Aria will be able to try again next year, and I bet she’ll have a blast!
I so wish the boys and I had been able to get down to Loch Lomond to meet up with you and Jen! I was lucky to get to see her at the MADs a few years back but haven’t had the opportunity since. And it’s just shocking that the two of us have yet to meet! *hangs head in shame* πŸ˜‰
    Much love sweety xx

We are having the same issue with Bubbles and swimming, but this week I took Buddy along to see if that helped and it did. He enjoyed his lesson and they said he got on well. So hard to know what is best to do – Like you, I always feel like I’ve failed somehow!

It’s funny that your daughter should say that she enjoyed lunch. The first words out of Harry’s lips were “Mummy, we had pasta bolognaise with meat”. Obviously this was the highlight of his school experience.

I think I would take a good start at school over a wobble at gymnastics. I remember taking my daughter to dance lessons when she was four. The first week she was fine but the venue was different in the second week and she refused to go back.

That sky photo is absolutely gorgeous! We had a very similar experience with Lily and rainbows. She was so excited but when she got there she was so upset and just cried and cried. Another 18 months on and she has just started swimming with her siblings and she was absolutely fine (the siblings helped i think, but those 18 months have made a massive difference!)
