I have always loved Sylvanian families. They only came out when I was about 8. So I had a couple, but it was nothing like they have now. I quickly outgrew them, but they were my favourite toy to buy my twin nieces when they were little. They still have them and play with them all the time. Aria has been down playing with them too. She’s at an age where she loves imaginative play and role playing, so Sylvanian families are perfect for this. She’s got a few characters, but not any of the sets yet. One of her favourite is this one, Sylvanian Families Nursery Friends. Having just finished nursery herself, she loved that it was relatable to her.
How adorable at these little trio? They are so cute and soft. The clothes can come off and with them being small it can be a little bit fiddly, but they look great. Aria love to remove their shoes and mix them up on to the other character. What I love about this little set is that each of the figures are different. There is a Chocolate Rabbit, Walnut Squirrel and a Persian cat.
Each of the figures comes with their own accessory. There are a little hat which has an elastic to hold it on each of the figures heads. A cute little blue drinking bottle and a nursery school bag. The bag actually opens so you can add in little items, it’s small as the figures are small, but it’s a little detail that makes Sylvanian families the toy they are. They really do pay attention to the little details.
Aria enjoyed putting on their little accessories and playing with them like she would with her friends at nursery. There was a pretend sandpit, water table and of course lots of painting. With a little snack of carrot sticks too. Not all the animals liked the carrot sticks though.
What is nice about this little trio is that each animal figure feels different. The Squirrel has soft, very short fur. Feeling soft and cuddly. The rabbit has less fur and feels a little harder than the other two. Then there is the fluffy cat. It has long, coarse fur. It it great for giving kids different textures and allowing the sensory element in play. I like this and the fact they are not just made the same. Just like kids and animals are all different.
All the outfits on the figures are the same in their nursery outfits, but each one has a different coloured emblem to match their shoes. It really does show again the attention to detail. The clothing is cute-as-pie clothes and they really are cute.
As you can see Aria loved her new little friends. They have went everywhere with her and sleep beside her in bed. They are cute, fun and simple. With an RRP of £12.99 they aren’t overly expensive and would make a lovely gift. They have a recommended age of 3 + and since Aria is 4 she is at a great age to appreciate these. I can see this is going to be the start of a wonderful little collection. And I can’t wait to get in on the play time action. They are just so sweet, aren’t they?
I’d love to hear if you have Sylvanian families in your house and which ones you’d recommend?
