Fun Family Weekend at Tattershall Lakes Lincolnshire – Tribeca Caravan

28th July 2017 By Susan Mann 19 Comments

Tribecca

A few weeks ago we went for a family weekend holiday away to Tattershall Lakes in Lincoln and had the most amazing time. Honestly, we loved every single minute of our weekend. We arrived on the Friday just after lunch time having driven down from Yorkshire. When we arrived we were greeted at a lovely reception area and the staff were all lovely. It was busy as there were loads checking in. It was effective, quick and we were given everything we could need. I absolutely loved the pack you were given when checking in. We got out keys, entertainment passes, a map directing up to where we were staying and around the park and some information on the Rock the Lakes Festival. We were staying in one of the new Tribeca Caravan. Unable to wait any longer we headed round to the Tribeca Village.

Tribeca

I had never heard of a Tribeca before I came across Away Resorts. They have just launched this brand new style of caravan and it’s incredible. Looking online, it does not prepare you for how amazing these are compared to other styles of caravans. I LOVED the decor, the facilities and everything about it.

Inside the Tribeca

There is a definite luxurious feel about the Tribeca. Inside you will find the dining area when you first walk through the french style patio doors. There is a table and chairs for four people to eat at. Next there is the kitchen. The colours in this place are amazing. The kitchen is spacious with everything you’d need for a family, dishwasher, microwave, hob, oven and an awesome retro style fridge. The cupboards are stocked with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc.  The living area had a large screen tv, sofas and two square style seats you could pull out. It was comfortable and a lot more space than you’d get in your usual caravan style.

Master Bedroom

The main bedroom is huge with blue, grey and lime style decor. It is spacious and luxurious as you’d expect. There is an en-suite bathroom comprising of a toilet and wash hand basin. The large wardrobes and dressing tables are lovely and I did enjoy hanging up the clothes. Another large screen tv on the wall for some chill out time before bed, all with freeview channels. I think the most surprising thing of all in the master bedroom was a free standing bath tub. It’s huge and reminded me of the Flake advert back in the 80’s for those of us old enough to remember. Who didn’t want one of those when they grew up? Unfortunately, I never got one, so this was the next best thing. It also came with a waterproof tv which was also a mirror, very cool. I didn’t quite get around to using the bathtub however, I know, but we were so busy having fun, I just didn’t get around to. Good excuse to go back is what I am thinking.

Bathroom

The main bathroom is just off the living room, next to the kids bedroom. This consists of a large walk in shower, toilet basin and a large heated towel rail. Not quite your usual tight squeeze, it’s pretty big I thought. There are towels provided also.

Den beds

The highlight of the Tribeca, has to be the kids room. It’s incredible. All decked out in an outdoorsy, forest type theme with den bunk beds. Soooo cool! There are two bunk beds up the ladders and through the entrance. In the space in the corner of these is a wee den with a tv. They also have night lights built in to, they have thought of everything. My youngest two slept up there. They loved sharing as they two don’t share a room back home and watching the tv in bed is something we don’t have at home, so loved it.

TV

Down the ladders is another bed which my oldest slept on. It too has a remote controlled tv for him to watch. Underneath the other one there is a den filled with cushions and a great little area to hang out, read and chill. As you can see they all loved it.

Den hideouts

We don’t have tv’s in their rooms, so they were in their element and watching some wimbledon on the tv. The kids thought this was the coolest and it’s great for parents to have some alone time or chill in the bathtub while the kids play in here.

Doors Open

The tribeca is very light and airy with large windows throughout and small blinds which slide up the windows. They look great and are very clever. The windows all open out for some fresh air. The weather was gorgeous while we were there. One of our favourite parts is that the french patio style doors open up so that you can eat outside. It is lovely and a nice touch. There is also the optional extra of hiring a hot tub. They are placed in the little wooden areas at the front. We’d already had a hot tub in our previous place and opted not to have one.

Playing outside

Outside the Tribeca you are in Tribeca village. This is a separate section of the park which doesn’t over look one of the lakes, but it’s only a 2 minute walk. There are no cars within the Tribeca village in the middle, the cars are parked in their allocated parking bays behind each caravan. This makes it safe for the kids to go out play and have a lot of fun. They played football, played with scooters, balance bikes and we even bought a little tennis set from the shop which was great value for money.

Entertainment

The first night we headed to the entertainment complex, The Merlin,  to enjoy a family meal. The entertainment complex consists of a swimming pool, arcade machines, a shop, a huge dining area, a bar called the Spitfire which has a life size replica of one hanging from the ceiling, a park, amphitheatre, water fun, mini golf and more. It has everything you could want and more.

Fish and chips

The food was excellent. They had a range of kids meals as well as adults, they even catered for my husband’s gluten free diet. You chose want you want, and order the food and drinks at the bar. You need your entertainment passes with you to be able to order food and drink. They are served quickly and there is a vast range of both alcoholic and soft drinks. I found the prices very reasonable with all 5 of us getting a 2 course meal, dessert of course, 2 drinks, one of which was wine all for just under £50. I think that was good to be eating out in a restaurant style.

Dessert

The dessert tasted as good as it looks. I’d highly recommend it. It isn’t too busy, loud or crowded even with the entertainment on. It was a thoroughly enjoyable meal, one which we did again on the Sunday evening too. It’s got a lovely relaxed atmosphere that you want with kids.

Play

There are various different entertainment activities on throughout the day and evening. Bingo and dancing, cheerleading, etc for the kids and adults. Due to it being the Rock the Lakes festival when we were there, it was a bit quieter indoors. Do check out what is on, in the documentation when you get checked in.

Water Fun

Robert and I got a beer and sat in the vast outside area and listened to the music, while the kids played in the water fun spray area. They had an absolute ball here. It was fun, it was safe and they just loved it. It was a delight to sit back and watch.

Play area

The outside area is vast. With food bits, firepit, beach play area, park and more. It is amazing, you could stay here for weeks and not get bored. And just look at those views.

Rock the Lakes Festival

We were lucky enough to be there when the Rock the Lakes festival was on at Tattershall. This is an iconic festival of live music which is now into its 6th year. Both Friday and Saturday evenings and well as Sunday afternoon we were entertained with some amazing live bands. The music was mixed from sixties right up to date songs. There was something to suit everyone’s taste and the atmosphere was lovely. The fact you can see these type of bands, while having a drink and your kids playing around was fantastic. It didn’t go on too late, I think the last songs were about 10:45ish. My kids were sound asleep way before then, but I sat and listened to them from across the lake at our Tribeca, bliss.

Wildlife

The next day we didn’t have any activities planned, so we went for a wander around the park. The park is surrounded by 4 lakes. A lot of the caravans and lodges look onto the lakes and have private fishing areas. There is a lot of wildlife about and you will see lots of different ducks, birds, swans and geese on your travels. They are so cute.

Water sports

Within the lakes there are loads of water activities to do. We are not really a watersports family, so we didn’t partake in any. But we did watch and enjoyed seeing all the different ones. From water skiing, jet skiing, ringo things and so much more. It was incredible.

Holiday Fun

The kids brought their scooters which was perfect for them to get around on. The ground is flat, there is traffic, but the cars do drive slowly and carefully. There are a lot going about on hover boards too which the boys were very impressed with. We headed swimming once we reached the complex. It’s good to get in early as it fills up fast. Best to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the hour as you can pick up a band for each for the next session. Each runs for an hour. It doesn’t cost anything extra to go swimming, but you do need your entertainment passes to get in. The pool is a relative size with life guards and a unisex changing and shower area. There are extra cubicles for busy periods. There are loungers, a sauna and a steam room within the pool area. We stayed for our hour and the kids had fun splashing about and swimming.

Fishing

We had a spot of lunch back at the Tribeca, before we headed to do a spot of fishing. Well, we were at Tattershall Lakes, with all the fishing locations, it would be rude not to. We spoke to the resident fishing expert who runs the store there where you can hire fishing rods, purchase maggots, etc. We’ve never fished before, well, I have as a child, but no one else had. We bought a small travel rod which was great for them to try and at £14 it was good value as we have it for next time. We got a huge bag of maggots and off we set. A lot of the areas are private, so make sure you ask at the fishing store where is ok to fish. We didn’t catch anything, but it was a lot of fun and memories were made.

Dragonfly

I loved watching the dragonflies. There were so many of them. None of us have seen them before, I don’t think we get them much in Scotland, but they were incredible. Just look at the colour and how electric they look.

Beautiful Sky

We had dinner in the Tribeca that evening and listened to the music. Watching the sunset was incredible. I’d go back for this alone. Breathtaking.

Aeroplane

The next morning we headed up for some fun in the swing park before some activities we had planned for the day.

Archery

The boys chose archery. Their instructor is one of the entertainment staff and she was lovely. She was funny, put them at ease and had so much patience. She was a delight. The boys loved it and you can see a bit in the video too.

Swing Park

Aria and I had some more fun in the park while the boys were shooting arrows. She loved the park. It was great because it was outdoors, but had parts that were covered to protect against the rain and importantly the sun. It was roasting on the Sunday. It was safe for her to run around, climb and be a kid.

Putting

There is a little putting green area just next to the park, where you can hire clubs and balls from the ball. There is also a football area which is enclosed so the ball does hit anyone close by. I am sure it has basketball hoops too.

Lasertag

Then we headed over to the island to have some family lasertag. It was so much fun. There was another kid who joined us, but it’s fab to do as a group. We played in teams, then any man for themselves. I’ve never done lasertag before and it was great. We all loved it and had lots of fun running around in the safety of the trees, hiding and trying to win.

Tattershall Lake Views

After lunch we had a walk along to the other lake to see the wake boarders with a huge inflatable aqua park. You can just see it through the trees here. It looks incredible. My kids loved the look of it, but didn’t want to go on. Maybe next time, as there will be a next time. Honestly, if you have water confident and water sports loving kids, this is right up their street. If not, there are tons of other things to do.

t-shirts

Later on that afternoon, we did some tie dye t-shirts. This is something we haven’t done before either and had so much fun doing. The kids loved them. The only problem they had was waiting 24 hours and then washing and waiting until they dried before wearing.

Tie Dye tshirt

Aria has wore hers pretty much every day since. Tie dying is our new favourite pastime and I need to get some kit of my own. Any pointers, please leave me a note?

Ducks

We met these little creatures just before we headed out for a spot on the water in the pedalolo, which was fun and at only £5 for all of us, I thought was a great deal.

Candyfloss

We ended the holiday with a last meal out together and the kids even had some candyfloss. There is a machine in the bar area that makes it. £2 a go, but it plays sweets for me sweet song from the 60’s and you get to watch it being made. Well worth the £2 and extra teeth cleaning that evening.

2p machines

There is the arcade machines with their sparkling lights, enticing the money right out of your pocket into the kids hands. To be fair, there aren’t that many of them and with so much to do, we didn’t spend a lot of time here. The kids had some fun with a £1 each turned into 2p’s and played the 2p machines.

Sky

Did I mention that skies are pretty? My happy place. We really enjoyed the activities we did and there were so many more that we could have done. And when we come back, we will. The activities have different prices, so take a look before you go, book them in as they can get busy. They are all very reasonably priced in my eyes.

Ducks

We were all so impressed with the holiday park in general, it really did cater for all ages. There were adults there enjoying fishing, water sports or the live music. Kids running around on their scooters or snorkeling in the pool or having fun in the park. Parents felt at ease with their kids in a safe environment. It’s great to let them go out to play and have the options of meals in, dinner out or a take out. We didn’t feel the need to do a full shop as we were only there for the weekend, but if we were there for a week I’d say book a Tesco shop and get it delivered. My next plan.

Check out our video:-

The shop onsite is extensive and has some hot and cold snacks. It’s a tad expensive, but not hugely and well stocked with alcohol and a few toys. There is so much to do on the park, that we never felt the need to leave. However, there are loads of places close by and all are mentioned within your welcome pack from castles to farm parks. It’s got it all.

Tattershall Lakes Family Holiday

We absolutely loved staying in the Tribeca and loved Tattershall Lakes. It was brilliant. So many great activities, excellent value for money, safe and we all had a ball. There is so much to do inside and out. I would go back in a minute. We will definitely be back here and plan to check out other Away Resorts too. We had such a brilliant family holiday and came away with so many wonderful memories.

I’d love to hear if you have any experiences of Tattershall Lakes Park or Away Resorts, let me know in the comments below?

Wow, what a fabulous place. I’ve stayed at an Away Resorts place before and wasn’t very impressed so we haven’t been to another one. You have definitely changed my opinion though and made me want to give them another try. That caravan looks incredible and the water sports on the lake would make it just our sort of holiday. Thanks for linking up to #familytraveltips.

These are lovely photos – I loved reading about your holiday. My boyfriend’s family live in one of the lodge so in the park; you may have seen them on the drive in? Obviously I’d never need to stay in their caravans or use their facilities but I’m so happy to see how lovely they we’re and how much you enjoyed it! Its a beautiful park isn’t it?
