School Dinners, Discos, Selfies And Balance Bikes – Our Weekly Photos Week 25

Last weekend we didn’t have a lot planned and it was nice to have a chilled out Sunday. Saturday we spend the afternoon at the opticians with the boys and I getting our eyes tested. I am super short sighted and oldest is extremely long sighted, but just in one eye. Tyler is fine, he has great eyesight. The optician told us being outdoors for at least 40 minutes a day to keep your child’s eyesight good. Another great reason to get outdoors and have fun. Lucas picked some new glasses and we ordered him new sports gogglesΒ he’s had his existing ones for quite a few years now and he’s grown a lot. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. He has football training at least 3 times a week most weeks plus matches. It saves their own glasses getting broken and they don’t need to worry if the ball hits your face. I too bought glasses, but being so short sighted I have no idea what I they look like on. I pretty much by the first pair I pick out and then it’s a lovely surprise when I pick them up. Please tell me I’m not alone in this?

On Sunday we chilled out at home as Robert was working and it poured the whole day. We baked, did some crafts, you can see our space crafts if you want to give them a go, played with toys and Aria and I took some selfies. It was a lovely day and it’s been sooooo long since we’ve had a full day at home.

The week has been pretty much full on. It’s end of term for us with only a week and a half left of the school year. Aria will be graduating nursery and Lucas will be moving into his last year of primary school, so it’s all go. Tuesday so sports day being cancelled due to the dreich Scottish weather. I had the day off, so Aria and I went out in search of a balance bike. I hadn’t gotten her one before as the boys hadn’t enjoyed theirs, but Aria has been going on a neighbours and loves it. She hadn’t bee off it since. It’s even been to school and is being driven up and down the living room when she’s not outdoors. I wish I’d gotten one sooner.

Sports day went ahead on Wednesday, but I couldn’t make it with work, but Robert went. Not only that, he only went and won the father’s race. We will never hear the end of that. He even has his first place ribbon up on his monitor at work. Wednesday was also the schools first disco. It was more of a disco and fun night with lots of games and activities. I went straight after work and did the photo booth. What a busy night it was, but the kids had an absolute ball. Don’t the boys look handsome on their way to the disco?

Thursday, I had another day off work to take Aria to her last taster session at school, where we left them for the first time. Just for an hour and then we came back and had school dinner. Yes I did too. I will do a blog post about this soon. She had a lovely day, there were a few wobbles, but all in all a good day. We then went to the park, before heading back to school for after school club.

This weekend we have football training, the circus and my mother in law’s birthday dinner this evening, all today, Saturday. It is all go. I can’t wait to see the circus.

Tomorrow is father’s day and my kids couldn’t have a better father in their daddy. He really is an awesome dad and I couldn’t be prouder of the father he became when our children were born.

However, I am really struggling with father’s day and have tears running down my face. This year, father’s day also falls on the 14th anniversary of my own dad’s death. Oh how I miss him, not just today, but everyday and the longer time goes on, the more I miss him. I’ve been struggling for over a week and wish I could just see him for one last time. I wish he could have met my children. I just miss him….

Hope you have a good weekend. What are you plans for the weekend? Β How has your week been?

End of term is very early for you, isn’t it? We still have over a month to go but this term already seems to be flying by. It’s nice that the weather has finally caught up with the calendar this week too. πŸ™‚

Aw, so sorry that Father’s Day is going to be a tough one for you this year. I hope that you are able to focus on your happy memories of your dad and can enjoy the time with your children. xx #HappyDaysLinky

I had to laugh at you choosing glasses without knowing what they look like! You and your little lady look so similar in the photo of you both. My son and daughter are both long-sighted in both eyes. They have the exact same prescription and my daughter can’t bear to be without her glasses for more than a few minutes, yet my son claims he ‘doesn’t realise’ when he’s ‘forgotten’ to put his contact lenses in!

Aria is the spitting image of you! I’m so sorry you are feeling so sad about your Dad, I lost mine over 40 years ago and I still wonder about how he would have been with my children. It does no harm to shed a tear over those we miss. xx

Lovely pictures of your family Susan and glad Aria’s taster session went well. Thinking of you today. Father’s Day is hard when you are missing your own Dad. I lost my dad eight years ago and it always hits a little harder on days like this. Sending lots of love your way x

I’ve never heard about the 40 minutes outside benefiting eyesight. I’m surprised this isn’t encouraged more. I haven’t picked out new glasses in ages as I hate it so much as I have such a small head!
