Match Attax Extra – Love Of All Things Football

5th May 2017 By Susan Mann 10 Comments

Club 1Match Attax Extra And Love of All things Football00 Card

Anyone who follows me on social media, blog or my life will know how much my boys love football, especially my oldest who eats, sleeps and breathes football. He literally kicks a ball from morning to night. And if he’s not playing, he’s playing Fifa or Match Attax Cards. He especially loves the new Match Attax Extra cards series. Both boys have bought these for years. They love them. They spend hours setting up teams, going through stats and just generally looking at them.

Match Attax Items

We were sent a selection of products from the latest Match Attax Extra Series and my boys were so excited. It might have been the best thing that ever came in the post. I won HUGE parenting points for this one. And they were happy to do a video and let me take lots of pictures. As blogger kids, they know this was a huge perk. To be honest, we have bought every Match Attax book for years and they save up their pocket money and get packs for birthdays, Christmas, etc. Lucas might just be the biggest Match Attax fan.

Match Attax Extra Reading

You have never seen anyone’s eyes light up as much when he saw he had a full box. Each pack contains 9 cards, each card has a player, manager, club badge, etc on it. It contains stats about the player and has a picture of their football club on the back. The cards are well made and are sturdy enough to be played with. They don’t split and they look great. There are different types of cards from the super exciting limited edition gold ones, silver and bronze cards as well as normal ones. They couldn’t wait to get started. They floor was soon covered in football cards. Thankfully having the book top put them in meant that they are stored in the one place and don’t get lost.

There are a lot of kids in the boys school that collect these cards, so they are forever taking them in their little tins to swap with their friends. The tins are great for keeping your doublers in.

And Match Attax Extra cards, just like football is not just for boys, girls love these too. We have several girls, one in particular being our niece who collects them and plays football too. Both boys play for football teams, so that’s another set of friends they can swap cards with.

Match Attax Extra Cards

Match Attax isn’t just about the cards, it’s also a game. Within the starter kit and album you get the gaming instructions as in the images above. You also get the playing board. Game play works just like a normal game of football in the sense that you need 2 players. Here are the rules below:-

There are different types of cards, midfielders, forwards, defenders, goalkeeper and tactic cards. This is what they look like on the other side of the footballer card. Each with their club badge and thankfully name, so people like me can tell which club is which.

Match Attax Card Types

We decided to make a video of us playing it, well mainly so they boys could explain it to me. It is fantastic for practising their maths skills. You can watch the video below.

This collection of Match Attax Extra launched on the 16th of March. The difference between Match Attax that come out at the start of the football season and the Extra editions is that these ones contain the most up to date players that moved during the Christmas transfer season.

We are huge fans of Match Attax Extra cards, the boys love them and I love them. They keep them entertained for hours, it helps improve reading, football skills and they are having fun while doing it. Football is something they are passionate about, so this is right up their street. The packs are £1 each and it’s not a lot of money at all. Not much more than a chocolate bar and certainly better for their teeth. A lovely way to spend pocket money or rewards.

Do make sure you register your football team on the Match Attax Club Together page then your club have a chance of winning some amazing prizes including the top prize of a training session with Kevin De Bruyne!  Other prizes include 100 full training packs, 50 complete kits and 400 bags and training balls to be won, you have good odds of winning a prize!  It doesn’t take long, just make sure your team or club share ALL the codes they get from your Match Attax Extra packs, It’s all about getting the most points. It’s another reason to get collecting and what a great reward for it and come together as a team.

Love Match Attax

I’d highly recommend Match Attax cards, they are great for kids aged from 6 upwards I’d say. I know a lot of teens who have these and even my husband is a huge fan. The website is fantastic from finding out more about their collections, but you can buy the extra cards if you are only a few missing, find out about their Match Attax events. Which I am told are fantastic. The boys and their dad went and they had the best time. Swapping cards, playing games and got a lot of the cards to complete their set. My husband was very impressed and great value for money too. Plus at Christmas time we got the boys their own Match Attax cards with their photo on them. I am sure they are less than £4 and you get several of the cards. They look fantastic and the boys were delighted. A great little keepsake for years to come. You just upload a photo and away you go. I cannot praise Topps Match Attax cards enough we think they are fab. Huge thumbs up from us.

Confession – I wasn’t into football when I was a kid! But i do remember everyone in my school collecting Pirelli football stickers. I think my mum was just glad I wasn’t pestering her for them!
As a dad to two boys I am sure at some point one of them at least will start getting the footy bug, especially as we live near Crystal Palace FC. So perhaps we’ll be Match Attax fans too. 🙂

I can imagine. I think they are good as pocket money items and the boys spend hours reading and learning about footballers from them.
