It has been a good week all in all here. I finally heard from my mum and she is out of hospital now. She’s washed out, but ok, which is a huge relief. She’s still over in Malta, but hopefully comes home next weekend. I am still a tad annoyed at not hearing from them much, but so relieved she’s ok.
Last weekend we had football on Sunday and had a lovely family dinner together. Monday was a bank holiday and both Robert and I were off work. The kids have been going on and on about ice-skating. I’d kept putting it off as I was worried about taking three kids with only two adults. I can skate, but hadn’t been for years. I used to go to ice-skating discos as a teen, which were a lot of fun. I had taken the boys before Aria was born, but not since. I need not have worried it was fine. We got a wee penguin to help Aria, as you can see in the photo she was shocked at me skating backwards to take this photo. I love it. She had the penguin for a while, but got on better without. She was off and help my hand for a bit, but she did well. Lucas was struggling a bit and held onto the side. The steward came over and helped him. He started to get there, but he’s not very confident on things he’s not tried or scared of. I think we need to take him back again soon. Tyler was fab and took to it straight away, yes he fell, but it was fine. We will definitely go back again soon.
Afterwards, we went for a picnic to the Museum of Rural life. It was a lovely day and it was a lot of fun. The boys haven’t been there for many years and we enjoyed a walk up to the farm to see the baby animals. Tyler found a new friend in a ladybird and boy, did he love this ladybird. He took it everywhere and let it crawl over his hand, he even gave it to a little boy to hold for a bit. Then back it went. He took it down on the tractor, and there it stayed. He named it Jimmy John John. However, we got off the tractor and away Jimmy John John flew. Queue, one upset and inconsolable boy. A wee trip to the shop for a little ladybird teddy, ow called Jimmy John John, who goes everywhere with him since. He’s a sensitive wee soul.
Fidget spinners are everywhere aren’t they? The boys are loving them and it’s making a different to Lucas, who is a huge fidgeter. They have been practicing some tricks as you can see Tyler’s photo. They are simple and effective and can be taken anywhere. Much better than the thump thump of the bottle flip.
Work for me has been busy as usual and I had parent council too. It’s a constant juggle isn’t it?
The kids were off school on Thursday due to the elections and had the best day with their Grandparents and cousins at pitch and putt and the parks as I was at work. They are lucky kids.
I captured this beautiful sunset this week and it’s been lovely to see our cherry blossoms finally starting to bloom. I really had thought spring had forgotten about this.
This weekend is a busy one. Both boys have football matches on both days. I am in Edinburgh for a writing event, which I am looking forward too. Aria has a birthday party, which she is excited about and we have Robert’s nephew’s, girlfriend’s birthday on Sunday. Family dinner at sister in laws. What are you up to? How has your week been?
