Three Generations, Snow And Sun – Our Weekly Photos Week 13

25th March 2017 By Susan Mann 26 Comments

Three Generations

Snow

Sunset

I am a broken record this week in that work has still been manic and stressful, I’ve even had to work what was a day off. It is tiring and draining, but it’s the weekend and I get to spend it was my wee family. Not only that we have sunshine today, Saturday.

Last Sunday we went out for dinner for my mum’s birthday. It was the first time my mum and I have ever eaten out together, we didn’t eat together much growing up. Another story for another time, but it was nice. It was nice to see her eat and enjoy it. Not only that, but I got a few photos of the kids and her, her and I and a lovely one of all three generations of women. She hates getting her photos taken, so I tried to keep it as fun and as natural as possible. My dad diedΒ when I was just 25, he never got to meet my children or walk me down the aisle, more importantly we, there are no photos of him and I at all. Not even one as a baby or child. It was the same with my mum and I, so I made a point of breaking that and took some photos. Seize the day, you just never know what is around the corner and Β I don’t want to have the same regrets I had with my dad. Not a bad photo either, don’t you think?

The kids have been at school and nursery, football training and musical theatre. Although a spanner was thrown in the works when we had a huge snowfall overnight, waking up on Tuesday morning to loads of snow. This snow tree picture I took in the morning, snow always looks beautiful until you try to go anywhere. Hubby was stuck for a while trying to get home from the gym and it took my mum 2 hours to get to my house to watch the kids from a 20 minute journey. The boys went off to school excited in their snow scooters, Aria stayed off nursery and we were spectacularly late for work. Come lunch time however, the snow had all melted. There were two grumpy boys and their friends heading home from school carrying their snow scooters in disappointment.

I had Thursday off work and did some editing of my novel in the morning. Then, picked Aria up for lunch and we had a wee lunch date with her friend and her mum before heading to school for another wee taster session. This time Aria was having some fun on balance bikes and an obstacle course, while the teachers spoke to us about the gym lessons. Having two already at the school, this wasn’t new to me, but it’s always good to hear about what’s going on. I do go to parent council, which is also good to find out more about the school. Aria really enjoyed it and is looking forward to going after the summer.

This weekend the boys have their usual football matches and training. The weather has been glorious today and it really feels like the first day of spring. I have welcomed the sight of the sun. I feel like we needed it. We made a wee trip to the library and I was excited to find a fab Scottish folklore book. Aria had to even put some books back, she had so many. It is good to see them excited about books.

How has your week been? What have you been up to recently? Let me know in the comments below or drop me a message on my social media channels. Hope you have a good weekend and a lovely mother’s day.

It’s funny how variable the weather has been around the country this week. It’s been positively mild down south most of this week. We’re even talking about breaking out the BBQ …

Sounds like you’ve had a good week even if it has been a manic one too. I love that photo of you, your mum and Aria – so lovely to capture the three generations together πŸ™‚

I never realised your dad had died so young. So sorry to hear that. I’m glad you got a rare photo with your mum. I always make the effort to take photos of my parents too, even though they don’t often want them taken! It seems crazy to have snow at this time of year. I hope your work settles down soon.

I love the photo of the three of you, that’s precious. I can’t believe you had snow either, we’ve not had any here all winter, apart from a little flurry that didn’t really settle. We have had a very sunny weekend, so I hope it’s been a bit nicer for you too x

You were so right to get those gorgeous photos of you and your mother. I have no photos of myself or my parents as a child, and only photos of my mother with my children when they were younger. Sometimes I see other people’s and I do admit to being a bit jealous of that. Grab it while you can πŸ™‚

Gorgeous photos! One that will be cherished by you all for years to come I’m sure! I lost my mum when I was 24 so know how it feels to have your wedding day and children without one of your loved ones to witness it. Photos are definitely the door to the past and I must make sure I get more of me and mine as I know these are the ones they will cherish the most rather than another 100 a day of them on my iPhone. Enjoy your week and the glorious sunshine. Long may it last! #LivingArrows

Oh I am sorry you don’t have any photos of you with your dad. I barely have any with my mum and I always worry that one day she won’t be here and I won’t have any! She point blank refuses to have them taken though, so annoying! Thank you so much for joining in #HappyDaysLinky x

The snow caused a lot of chaos on the roads, it does make life difficult.
Not many pics of me as a child or with parents or siblings either. Dont think I ever ate out with my mum either. was just something we did not do.

The three of you together look beautiful. I take as many photos with my mum now as an adult because we have so few when I was growing up. The snow on the tree looks lovely πŸ™‚ Sorry I am a week behind on my commenting! Must do better πŸ™‚ #project365

Photos are SO precious. There aren’t many of me with my mum and dad but I’m always snapping them with the kids. Perhaps I need to get in front of the camera a little more.
