Happy 8th birthday to the birthday boy, can you believe it, 8 years old… Sorry, but where has it went. Happy 8th birthday Tyler. 8 years ago I gave birth to my second baby boy, which you can read all about here; Tyler’s birth day it wasn’t the simplest of nicest of births, but it’s his story. It was also my first ever blog post and today is my 7th blogoversary. I started on his first birthday. But, for once, I am going to blog about that another time. Seven years is a long time, a lot of memories recorded and I feel I want to mark it with his own post and not take the shine of this wonderful day, which is my little boy’s birthday.
The photo above has to be my favourite photo of this year of Tyler, I think it captures him perfectly. His cheeky smile, his handsomeness, the want to make you laugh and his thoughtfulness. He is a special boy. One that is kind, thoughtful, but can push you to your limit. I have seen a huge change in him this year.
Here he is at his auntie’s wedding just before he turned 7. I think he’s change physically and facially, that grin gets cheekier and cuter with each passing year. Now he’s finally got his big front teeth after spending 4 years without a front tooth from knocking it out by accident. But, what I’ve seen the biggest change in, is his confidence. He’s louder than Lucas, but he is actually really shy. Not many people see this, he hides it well with his cheeky chappy front. I’ve watched him at school with his friends and peers, he has a great group of friends and they play well together. He will stand up for himself and others, but he is also very kind and considerate if someone is hurt or he feels they are being treated unfairly or doing something wrong, he will voice his opinion. He is a great friend to have.
Tyler loves to cook and bake. You will see him many times on the blog cooking and baking, this was one of his first cooking videos he made with me, when he made Chicken Madras. He loves nothing more than to bake. He also loves to build things like lego, but his favourite is designing hamma beads, simbrix, things like that. He looks up designs to make and follows them. He has so much patience and will stick at something until it’s done. Unlike his brother, this is not his forte. He’s the glasses Tyler made so he could be like his big brother. Crazy boy.
Tyler and Lucas are starting to bicker and wind each other up, more than ever. They are still best of friends and spend so much time doing things together, chatting way later than they should at bedtime and Lucas always wants Tyler to play football with him. They look out for each other and in the past I’ve always said that it’s Tyler that adores his big brother more than anything, but recently Lucas has been showing quite a bit of concern for Tyler, in his own way. He finds it a little harder to share than Tyler. He wears his heart on his sleeve and can be quite emotional. Tears one minute to shouting and stamping the next. With Tyler, what you see is what you get. Their bond is like nothing I’ve ever experienced, being an only child and it’s one that I love and cherish.
Tyler is a big fan of the great outdoors and loves when we do things together as a family. He loves to climb, play at the park, run around, pretty much anything. He is easily pleased. He is never bored and would even be happy with some paper or a cardboard box.
Tyler is the one who knows me, when I’m sad or feeling down he knows, he gives me the biggest cuddle and if he sees me crying he says it’ll be ok. When I let myself get annoyed, he calms the situation down and when I am happy and laughing he’s right there with me doing the same. He’s interested in books and is enjoying reading, but he’s enjoying writing his own more. He has a fantastic imagination, which sometimes gets the better of him and gives him nightmares if he’s heard, watched or read something that worries him. He’s exactly like me. I still have nightmares, sleep paralysis and have to make sure my wardrobe door is closed before I got to sleep. Robert, my husband finds no end of amusement in this.
As I said earlier Tyler loves being with us and the extended family. He loves spending time with his Gran, Gran and Grandpa and his favourite Auntie, Uncle and cousins. We went on holiday together to Blackpool last year and he loved it, he was in his element, showing off and joking around. Even something as having dinner together as a family, is special to him. His face lights up when I tell him I am off and will have dinner together during the week. It is very sweet. We had some lovely travels last year and Tyler, if you asked would say they were all good. He’d never pick a favourite.
One of Tyler’s highlights of his year would be the introduction of our little kitten Twilight. He adores her and is always cuddling and playing with her. She’s a sweet cat.
Football is still Tyler’s favourite past time. He loves to play and is a joy to watch. Having played against his brother since he could walk, Lucas is football crazy, Tyler, he good at it. He’s one of the oldest in his team due to the way the football years go, compared to being one of the youngest in his class at school. He’s moving up to playing 5 asides this year, which he is looking forward to. He still plays at his dad’s football club, but Robert doesn’t get to coach them as often as he’d like as he does the older team. I’m there cheering him on at the sidelines and shouting like a crazy parent, while his dad is coaching Lucas team. He doesn’t mind in the slightest, but always loves when he can make it.
You can just see the future, instead of sitting in a cruise boat on Loch Lomond it’s the pub, can’t you? Tyler is a fantastic sibling, he loves them both fiercely. He is great with Aria and I’ve seem him take her to the toilet, help her get dressed or with anything she is doing. He has the patience, the care and the want. However, God help her when she’s a teenager! Poor Aria is all I can say. He is super protective and almost had kittens over a Princess Jasmine outfit that a friend gave her as it showed a bit of her tummy. Funny, but let’s hope he likes her partners in the future he he he!
Tyler is extremely creative and artistic, he came up with the idea for this costume all on his own and couldn’t wait to help me with it. I helped make it come to life, but can’t take credit for the idea. He loves to make things. For his birthday he asked for a whole load of different stationery and art items. I am looking forward to seeing what he creates.
School wise, Tyler is doing great. His reading has come on fantastic and he’s reading Harry Potter with me and reading every day. He’s a joy to teach, so his teacher informs me and is doing great. His confidence has grown recently. He took part in musical theatre after school club and played a magpie and Winston Churchill. Tyler loves to perform, he’s forever dancing and singing. In shops he’ll be moving and grooving to the beat, but if he catches you watching him, he’ll stop. So seeing him on stage, belting out songs, dancing away without a care in the world, was huge. He loved it and wants to do it again next year. So much so, that he played a major part in the nativity play, he was Jospeh. Now, he was off sick just before Christmas if you remember, he only went back to school on the Monday and the nativity was the Wednesday. His teacher thought he’d be great for the part. He learned his lines, he learned the songs and every action he had to make. I had the biggest lump in my throat when I watched him on stage at church. The whole place gave an “Aww” when he had to hug Mary, they were very sweet and he was a star. I was so proud of him. I always am, but you know what I mean, it was huge, a huge step for him and he did it flawlessly.
So here’s my cute, funny and cheeky little guy, who is sensitive and hate the cinema. He does into sensory overdrive, it’s a horrible experience for months after it. He’s fine watching films in the comfort of his own home, but the cinema is a no go. Tyler will make you laugh, give you the best hugs, bring tissues when you are sad, bake you a cake and draw pictures with you while chatting away. And drive you to tear your hair out as he knows how to press everyones buttons to antagonise them. But, he’s himself and he’s amazing.
I am looking forward to seeing what his 8th year brings. Soft toys will be included as they are his favourite thing in the world, next to me of course. Tyler makes me proud and brings a smile to my face even on the darkest of days. Happy birthday Tyler, we love you. xxx
One of the great things about blogging is I can look back at all his past birthday posts. You can read his birth post from the link above, but here is his second birthday, third birthday, fourth birthday, fifth birthday, sixth birthday and last years 7th birthday. I love reading through all the past memories, this really is my favourite thing about blogging.
