Happy 7th Birthday To My Little Boy

21st January 2016 By Susan Mann 9 Comments

Today I am not only celebrating my handsome and funny boy Tyler’s 7th birthday, but it is also my blog’s 6th birthday. I can’t quite believe either to be honest. How did my little baby boy, whom I thought would be my last baby get to be 7 and a blog I started out with the encouragement of my lovely friend Mostly Yummy Mummy, whom I hope to meet this year, get to be 6. Yes it all started with a post about Tyler’s birth day on his 1st birthday. I did swap blogs a month in, hence the chance in dates, but it all started 6 years ago today. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads, comments, takes the time to say hi or anything really. I have met so many wonderful friends though my blog and there is such a great community. Yes things have changed over the last 6 years in blogging, but friendships and my love of blogging hasn’t. Thank you.

Baby Tyler

Now time to celebrate my little boy. Tyler wasn’t the easiest of babies, he had colic, he was sick a lot, but he smiled more than any other little baby I have ever seen. He was cute and funny even back then, he has the cheekiest little grin. However, even since I can remember he has adored and admired his big brother. He would do anything for Lucas and still does. Their bond is like nothing I’ve ever experienced and it makes me heart swell and I am so proud every day. Being an only child, seeing them have this bond means a lot.

Little Six Year Old

Here he is around his 6th birthday and you can see by the end of the post just how much he has changed and grown. Tyler might be one of the youngest in his school class, but his teacher comments on his maturity. He has a great little group of friends and I watched them at a party just on Saturday, they all had their arms around each others shoulders belting out Let it go in front of all their peers. They rocked it. I can just picture them in their late twenties, yes twenties, stoating out the pub after a few shandy’s doing something similar. It was a moment I’ll treasure forever. You know, just a perfect moment, you see how your child is going to be in the future. Full of fun, laughter and caring.

School Boy

Tyler has come on leaps and bounds this year, as you can read in the post. He has had a great year at school, he’s performed out his comfort zone, he is loving football and he even finished his swimming lessons. Tyler learned to ride his bike properly over the Summer and even did the family trail with us on his own bike when we went on holiday in Sherwood Pines. He can swim and has done really well with this. I am so proud of him.

Riding a bike

He’s a little cheeky chappy, the one who wants to make you laugh, plays a wee joke, but will be the first one there with tissues and a huge hug if you are sad. Tyler gives the best hugs, you can feel your whole body fill up with the love and warmth that comes from his wee soul. Tyler says he will live with me forever and he’s my best friend. He is my best friend and I’m not sure about staying with my forever, but it would be nice.

Leaf Bowls

Crafting, drawing, cooking and baking are Tyler’s favourite things to do. He loves nothing more than hiding in a cardboard box and making into something spectacular. He has a great imagination and eye for the unusual. He loves to bake and cook. We have been encouraging him to make his own food and has made the most amazing burgers with apple and onion, I will share the recipe soon and sticky bbq ribs. It’s helping him see what goes into food and to try something he wouldn’t normally. This year Tyler’s favourite tv show has been the Great British Bake Off. He’s not into tv shows or films, but this was his essential viewing each week and yes he had his favourites. Will I see him on the show in the future? I’d love to. I made up a hamper filled with cooking books, baking items and ingredients for his birthday to encourage and nurture his love of baking. You can check it out on my instagram if you fancy a nosy.

Catching Bubbles

He is a very sensitive little boy and recently we have been struggling with nightmares after he saw Star Wars. Not sure it is entirely Star Wars, but it triggered something. He seems to be sensitive to music and baddie music seems to set him off. He used to shake and cower when the baddie music came on at panto’s and even in Tangled. This year at the panto with the school, his teaching assistant said he said on his own seat for the first time in 3 years. So we thought he was getting there, but time will tell. I am working through things with him.

Vending Machine Costume

He’s had a few proud moments this year, one being that he won first prize for his Halloween costume we made, which was a vending machine. He loved this costume and came up with the idea himself. And second he was proud to be a page boy at his Auntie and Uncle’s wedding.

Little Boy Kilt

Tyler is great with is little sister, reading to her, playing with her and helping her whenever she needs it and sometimes not needing it. I’ve already mentioned he worships his big brother. They are both lucky to have him as a sibling. Tyler loves sport, loves to run, climb trees and play football. But he also loves to create and I’ve seen him win many a Minecraft challenge at the library this year with his creations. One included building a library. His reading is coming on well and he is taking turns reading Harry Potter aloud with my to him and Lucas.

Snow balls

Tyler is the sweetest, kindest, adorable and loving little one, I couldn’t ask for a better son.  And I am looking forward to seeing what his 7th year brings. I am looking forward to baking, creating and cuddling him. He makes me proud and brings a smile to my face even on the darkest of days. Happy birthday Tyler, we love you. xxx

Ready to Party

One of the great things about blogging for six years is I can look back at all his part birthday posts. You can read his birth post from the link at the start, but here is his second birthday, third birthday, four birthday, fifth birthday and last years sixth birthday. I love reading through these wonderful memories and seeing how they have changed. And how my writing and blogging has changed.

Where does the time go?
