Nintendo Mario Party 10

28th July 2015 By Susan Mann 3 Comments

Mario party 10

A few months ago we were asked to try out the new Nintendo Mario Party 10. Being big fans of Mario Party already we were excited to try it out. Both my boys are big Mario and his friends fans and have been for years.

Nintendo Mario Party 10 is very much a family played game. It’s a great one to bring the family together and have some fun and a giggle together. Like a 21st century board game. I love games like this, games that aren’t all about skill and fiddly controlling, but about good old fashioned luck. Don’t get me wrong, the mini games require some skills, overall the board game feel is there.

Mario party board

The game itself involves rolling a dice and travelling around the board. You can compete against each other to win. This will require additional contollers to do so. Within the board there are 70 mini games to play along the way. These are lots of fun and can get quite competitive.

Mario Party 10 also uses the new amiibo characters. Using the ones you will have will allow you to play extra levels. I think the amiibo options adds that extra level. They are compatible with other Mario and friends games also, but make sure you double check first.

With a PEGI rating of 7 it’s not one for the younger kids. Although they’ll try to join in and it’s suitable for them, they probably won’t have the skills to be able to play the mini games. I feel they can join in, but they might be better playing as a team with an adult to help them out. Both my 6 & 8 year old’s were fine and had lots of fun competing against each other.

There is lots to do in this game, from game play, mini games, extras to hidden rooms where you can play for additional Party points for vehicles and music. This will keep your players entertained for a long time. Due to all the different options and games, I’d say no two games will ever be the same.

With the amiibo and Bowser party on the gamepad, which are a lot of fun, this game has a lot going for it. My boys loved it and so did we, but I can’t help thinking it’s very similar to its predecessors. Which to be fair we enjoyed too. Nintendo Mario Party 10 is a fun family game with lots to do and play.
