Animal – The Gallery 230

13th May 2015 By Susan Mann 16 Comments

This week’s The Gallery prompt is Animal on the lovely Tara’s Sticky Fingers Blog.

At the weekend I was out doing some gardening, I’m certainly not green fingered and have never really done gardening before. I actually really enjoyed it and it might become a little hobby, watch this space. Whilst I was there I came across this little animal, it appears you don’t see many of them in gardens anymore and this one was huge. My animal for this week – meet Mr Hungry Caterpillar.

It’s huge, and really neon green.

We had quite a lot last year but haven’t seen any yet this year. Think they were tortoiseshell butterfles – black and yellowy/orange stripes. We certainly had a lot of butterflies got in the house

Awesome! My younger son had one like that as a ‘pet’ three years ago. He was devastated when it died.

We had loads of cabbage whites on our nasturtiums last year, if they come back this year I’m determined to see them pupate. Any ideas what this one is?

That would be great. I went out to see him or her again yesterday, but they weren’t there. I’m keeping an eye out. x

I haven’t seen a caterpillar in ages, especially not on that big! He’s huge! And such a beautiful colour!

That is one humongous caterpillar. I wonder what kind of butterfly it turns into.

Eek, pretty color but I’m scared to death of caterpillars now. Had a scare with my dog and some French processionary caterpillars. As an American, I wasn’t familiar with them but they are toxic and can kill dogs, so I steer clear of all creepy crawlies now. #animaltales

I love caterpillars and have kept several long enough for them to turn into butterflies. Thank you for adding this crawly friend to #AnimalTales 🙂
