Christmas Gift Round-Up For Boys Aged 5-8

6th December 2014 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

I love buying gifts for all those I love, I try to put as much thought and effort into each gift I pick out. Children, especially young ones are great to buy for. There is so much to chose from books, toys, games, etc. I am a big toy fan and the toys these days are fab. OK I still love the retro ones from my day, but come-on who wouldn’t love what they have these days when you were little. Here is my round up of gifts I’ve purchase for my own boys, had to review or just seen and thought they’d make great gifts, that I thought I’d pass on to your to give you some ideas.
Kite Flyer Finn
I am a HUGE fan of Lottie Dolls and have several, as well as the ones that Aria and the boys play with. I love what they stand for; Be Bold Be Brave Be You. What a motto And the role models are inspiring. My oldest Lucas has always loved playing with dolls, so I was delighted when Lottie brought out their very own boy doll in the range. Have you met Kite Flyer Finn? He’s a proper boy doll that boys can relate to, he does things that boys and girls would do like kite flying and fishing. He looks like a boy, not a girl doll with short hair and his cloths are ones that boys would wear. He come with accessories and you can purchase additional outfits and accessories for him. He’s a great toy for both both and girls and I cannot recommend Lottie dolls enough as gifts this Christmas and onwards.

Storm ScooterSomething the both my boys have asked for this year is a Scooter, but not just any scooter, they want Stunt Scooters. Not sure what type of stunts they are planning on doing on these scooters, but at least they’ll look the part. I got these Storm Green/Purple Yeh-Bar Stun Scooter from ToyzWorld. These are well made with reinforced steel alloy fork for the front wheels and a steel alloy handlebar, complete with rubber grips for support. The deck of the scooter is covered with an excellent grip type material to stop the kids from sliding of losing their footing on the scooters. The break at the back is made of aluminium and works well, I had a wee shot to test it out myself. The maximum weight for this scooter is 100KG, so I can go on it no bother. I think these scooters are well made, safety has been taken into consideration and look the part. They are suitable for ages 5 and over, make sure they have the correct safety equipment on before they have a go and at £39.95 I think these are great value for money.
SquishableNow who doesn’t love something soft, snugly and oh so Squishable to hug to sleep at night? Anyone? Well I have the perfect gift, this gift is well suited to my 5 year old Tyler, who is a huge soft toy fan. Introducing our latest addition Squishable the Peacock. All 15″ of him. He is the softest and most huggable creature I have ever come across. Honestly, you have to feel this to believe it, it’s incredible and Tyler has never let him go since. He tried to fit him in his school bag, but that was a no go, so I got to keep him for the day. The Squishable range have every creature you could possibly think of from werewolves to three headed dogs, to unicorns and puppy cats and even some non creatures like toast and cinnamon buns. They look fantastic and would make a great gift. The 15″ is £34.99, but there are smaller options. However, in this case bigger is better. Super soft hugs, is bound to put a smile on anyone face this Christmas. Don’t you think?
3D Rex PuzzleMy boys are very inquisitive especially the little one. Has has been doing various projects on dinosaurs over the last year and a half at school and is a little obsessed. I thought I’d get him one of these 3D Puzzle Rex’s. They aren’t just a well made puzzle to make, they also contain a book answering questions about dinosaurs and T-Rex. The puzzle is made from good quality wood and easy to assemble, making a perfect gift for any dinosaur fans. These are available for a great price of £6.99 from Science 4 You Toys and Amazon. There is a great range to suit all tastes.
Chemistry 400
As I mentioned above with the boys being inquisitive, my oldest is into science. Lucas is going to be 8 on Christmas eve and he’s been doing science at school so I thought a science kit would make a great gift for him. This is a great kit which contains everything they need to perform 12 science experiments. Included in the kit is goggles, ph paper, cups, lids, test tubes, balloons, spatula, baking soda and pipettes. It’s for ages 8 plus and at £17.99 I think it’s good value for money. It’s an excellent kit for a beginner with a 36 page booklet explaining everything. This is another purchase from Science 4 You Toys. Do check out their range of educational gifts.
Ravel WatchesTelling the time is something we all have to be able to do sooner rather than later. In our school the children are not allowed to wear digital watches, so analogue watches it is. They both love wearing watches, it’s all part of learning and becoming independent. I am loving the children’s watches they have at Ravel watches from Time Source Ltd. The have a huge range and not just for children, but I particularly like the 3D Cartoon watches. They have chrome casing, the strap is tough and durable, it’s colourful, fits small wrists and it looks fun. I love how the characters pop out at you. It looks really good on a kids wrist. These watches would make a great gift and come with a guarantee.
If you have a son who loves to build like mine do, why not get them some Nano Blocks? Nanoblocks are fab, they are little tinyblocks which create 3D structures like the Arc de Triomphe which we built or the Empire State Building. There are so many to chose from, you won’t know which one to chose. There are simple to build and come with an instruction booklet. It takes patience and time, but the end result is worth it. My oldest who is almost 8 and I did this together and we had a lot of fun. I don’t think he’d have the patience to do it himself yet, but it was a fun family activity. I am going to get another of these perhaps the titanic next. Love these.
I really could go on and on, but I will leave it here for now. Is there anything else you’d like to add to this list that other readers might love to buy for their little boys? Or that I should get for my two?
