The Very Hungry Caterpillar Products

10th December 2013 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

I’m a big fan of the Eric Carle book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I remember this being read to me as a child and had a board book that you could put your fingers through the holes in the fruit. The small things that amuse you as a child. When I became a mother myself the first book I bought my baby was indeed The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I bought him a board book, unlike mine this one had a little caterpillar finger puppet through the middle of the holes in the fruit. Even now the boys love me to read them this book and giggle when the caterpillar wiggles about. It makes me smile every time.
Hungry Caterpillar
This is why I was delighted to become a Very Hungry Caterpillar blogger. From now until March I will showcase and review some of the wonderful products in the Very Hungry Caterpillar range. This coincides with the 45th Anniversary of the book. Did you know there have been over 29 million copies of this book sold? Think of all those children sticking their little fingers through the holes in the fruit.

The 3 Piece Porcelain Set, is a delight. These remind me of the sets you used to give at Christenings and as a new baby gift. In fact I think these would be perfect for that. They are something I wouldn’t want to us3e, but keep in display. It comes in a wonderful gift box perfect for displaying it in or giving as a gift. I have used the set and it’s fab, the fact that it’s dishwasher and microwave safe and oven and freezer proof makes them even better in my eyes. Whether you use this, give it as a gift or keep it as a keepsake, you will not be disappointed in the loveliness of this set. Available at Portmeirion. RRP £25.99

The Hungry Caterpillar TabardThe Tabard is great for painting, crafting and baking. Tyler my 4 year old loved it. It’s easy to put on, feels comfortable and looks great. It’s perfect for both boys and girls and you can wipe off any spillages or chocolate that may have made its way from little hands to the tabard. It get used a lot in our house for water play, it’s long enough to protect the child but gives enough movement to have fun. Available at Amazon, Fortnum and Mason, Jojo Maman Bebe. RRP £7.95
The Hungry Caterpillar Lunch Bag
Finding a Lunch Bag that is practical, yet looks good and is well made proves to be difficult as I have learnt over the last few years with my oldest child at school. They either have the character your child wants and doesn’t shut properly after the first week or so or your child won’t use it because it’s not cool. The Hungry Caterpillar one is well made and it looks fab. The lunch box is sturdy and closes absolutely fine, plus the wipe clean front makes a great addition. Available at Steamer RRP £13.99

The Hungry Caterpillar Umberella

Living in Scotland we see our fair share of rain, an Umbrella is essential and a Hungry Caterpillar one is an added bonus. This is a dome shaped umbrella which keeps the little ones dry and covered. It’s rounded so it doesn’t get caught by the win and blow inside out and is very well made. I only wish it was big enough for me to fit in there as well. I might have to invest in one. It’s so cute. Available from Amazon, Fortnum and Mason, Jojo Maman Bebe. RRP £9.99.
I’m always on the look out for the ideal Family Calendar, one that I can have for the children and the adults. This one I am particularly looking forward to using next year. It’s got cute pictures featuring the classic illustrations by Eric Carle and plenty of room to write in what you and your family are up to, enough space for up to 5 members. A bonus is the rewards section and some stickers to keep the kids in check. And looks fab on the wall. Looking forward to using it. Available from Amazon RRP £9.99.

Make and Play Masks Sets are a lot of fun for little fans of The Hungry Caterpillar. There are all the bits here for little hands to make a caterpillar mask and a butterfly. They are simple to make and look great. Make a great stocking filler.  Amazon RRP £7.95
