Today is my oldest son Lucas’ 7th birthday, yes on Christmas eve. It’s doubly exciting in our house just now. Here is my post to his 6th birthday if you fancy seeing how much he’s grown and here’s my little Christmas miricale post. Lucas loves having his birthday on Christmas eve, it’s a very special day and we all have a great time.
This year he has come on leaps and bounds at school, football, everything he sets his mind too. He’s grown into such a lovely and sweet boy, I am so proud to be his mummy. He makes me laugh, give me hugs and kisses, however he won’t sit at peace even for a second, not even when he is sleeping. Must take after his Gran. I thought I’d share some of his highlights over the year.
Here’s a picture of him taken a month or so before his 6th birthday. Look how much you’ve grown.
At the beginning of the year we had a new addition to the family and although you were looking forward to the new baby, it took you a few days to come round to her. You were wanting her to be your goalkeeper, but she was a little too small for that. You have been the best big brother and always there looking after her. Mummy and daddy are so proud of the big brother you have become to your little sister. You want to be a Policeman and a footballer when you are older, so you dressed as a Policeman for career day at school. We had lots of fun when I was off on maternity leave this year, lots of baking, crafts, hanging out and playing. We all had great fun making this solar system. And although you’ve stopped it for now, you got your green tags in Taekwondo. This Lucas is amazing.

I think your biggest achievement this year, I felt was that you learnt to ride your bike. I have tried so many times to teach you and this year I was off over the Summer, I was determined that you were going to learn and you didn’t disappoint. Look at you go. Now you have a big bike and you love it. Football is your biggest passion, you pretty much eat, sleep and breath football. You drive us nuts kicking a ball from morning to night, talking about teams, players and skills, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope you are always this passionate about football and come back and read this post when you are a teenager, remembering how much you wanted to play football and become a pro. If you stay the way you are, I think you can achieve that dream. You have become one talented little left footer and I loved coming to see you play.
We had a HUGE list of things we wanted to do over the Summer, one of them was flying a kite and you were a natural at it. You had that bee kite up in the air for hours. You loved it and I loved watching you. This was a skill you mastered with ease. Right now you are very much into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Turtle Ninjas as you and Tyler call them and you met them when we were in Blackpool. What fun we had. You still love Tyler and the pair of you are inseparable. He worships you and wants to be you. You are best friends and I hope that continues forever. You have an amazing bond, not having a sibling myself, I find myself envious of what you two have. It makes my heart swell watching you two together.
More Summer fun of climbing trees, bonding with your sister and you helped Tyler to learn to ride his bike after you had mastered it.

We all had an amazing time on holiday over the Summer and went to Sherwood Forest in Nottingham where you met a few new friends. You also got the head teachers award for determination, which sums you up to a T. You are very determined when you set your sights on something. This is one of your biggest qualities. Look at that brotherly love.

Learning to play tennis, archery, fencing, zorbing, swimming and various other sporting activities were the highlight of your Summer when we were away and again in October. You love to learn new things and we are proud of you getting out there and going for you. You do the best you can and even when you’re not the best at first, you keep trying. You were fab at water walking though.
School is going great, your reading is coming on and it makes mummy over the moon that you are reading the vampire and witchy books that I read as a child. I love to read them to you and then you read some more in your bed. I hope you always love books, they are a great friend and you can immerse yourself into so many great worlds. Your teacher thinks you are an excellent pupil, well behaved, good at his work and a delight to have in class, keep it up Lucas. Your little sister adores you and lights up every time she sees you. There are so many pictures here of you in your team uniform because I know how proud you are to wear it. And daddy is the proudest man to be your coach and stand up there watching you play. Go Lucas.
These pictures were taken within the last month, we can see how much you have grown when I do your 8th birthday post. Here is you in your Christmas party outfit. I think daddy was way more excited than you and Tyler when you meet some Star Wars people, just look at his wee face. You look great in your football goggles and the will do you the world of good, keep wearing them. And look how proud you are of that medal. Keep those football dreams alive and keep practising, even if it drives me nuts at times, especially when I trip over yet another ball on the floor.
There is nothing more to say than we are so proud of you Lucas and want to wish you a huge Happy Birthday. Hope you have wonderful day and it’s filled with everything you wished for. Lots of Love Mummy xxx
