E.ON – Helping Families Save Energy and Money

2nd December 2013 By Susan Mann Leave a Comment

Having been on maternity leave from work recently, I’ve been in saving mode. Sometimes we can get a bit slack about switching the lights off when we leave a room, not having electronics on when they are not in use, switching your TV off instead of standby and turning the thermostat down a little. We all know these save money, but what else can we do?

We are all trying to stick to budgets in this current financial climate we are in, doing every bit we can to save a pound or two. Every little bit helps doesn’t it. At this time of year, we tend to have to spend a more on our energy bills. Keeping the curtains closed means we keep the heat in, but we have to put the lamps on earlier for light. Extra thick duvets and jumpers help us keep the thermostat down, but living in Scotland it’s nippy out there, especially on a cold frosty morning. It makes it harder to get out of bed when it’s cold and oh so snuggly under your duvet, it’s not just me is it?
We all love our home comforts, but we all love to save. And there is a way of keeping our home comforts without having to turn the heating off and putting on the long Johns.
If you are looking for simple ways to reduce your energy bills then you will be glad to hear that E.ON, one of the country’s leading energy providers, is taking steps to help you.
Whilst recognising that everyone uses energy differently and has different needs and requirements based on their own lifestyle, E.ON acknowledges that everyone would like to have cheaper electricity and gas bills and offer a wealth of information online (if you are an online registered customer) including a comparison tool to help you get to grips with your energy consumption.
As a family we are going to work hard at reducing our energy costs, switching off lights when not in the room, wearing an extra layer instead of putting the heating on. Huddling up together as a family on the sofa with a good book under a blanket sounds like good way to keep warm to me. What do you think?
