Both my husband and I work in IT so we have lots of gadgets about the house and use them a lot, between laptops, ipad’s, etc. We work and play on them so naturally our boys want to copy us and want to use our gadgets or have some gadgets for themselves. I am not overly keen on them playing on the ipad due to it’s expense and my laptop especially since I don’t have parental controls on it and they could click on anything in You Tube. If they are on these items they are well supervised. However, I wanted something that was there own, something I didn’t have to worry about them clicking on something dodgy or breaking. Something they could have fun with and endless possibilities. And I found that in the Innotab 2.
The Vtech Innotab 2 is an amazing piece of equipment. From having a rotating 1.3 mega pixel camera which can be used for taking pictures and self portraits. The boys loved this and had lots of fun taking pictures and then using the editing software to amend them and add funny bits.
As you can see it’s really easy to use, even a three year old can take a really good picture.
Tyler who is 3 1/2 trying out the Innotab 2.
Lucas getting stuck into the games and learning apps. He loved it and constantly plays with this.
Watching some videos and following an ebook together.
Lucas loves to be organised and has put everyone he knows birthday into the calendar and having fun with the clock. These simple tools are a great learning resource when you don’t expect them. With this product the boys can learn and develop their skills reading, maths and spelling to name a few.
The only downside I have to this is the batteries, it uses 4 AA which isn’t much but they do go through them quite quickly, but thankfully you can buy an adaptor for it. You must use a USB cable to connect the tablet to the pc to download, but it’s simple and straight forward to use.
The Innotab 2 has the following amazing features:-
- 5″ touch screen
- an e-book reader
- a MP3 player
- video player
- Calculator
- Calendar
- Clock
- a built in microphone
- expandable memory through SD cards, these are required for downloads
- loads of motion learning games
- an art studio
- 15 built in apps and 2 more free ones which you can download
- 2 styluses, just in case
You can purchase the Vtech Innotab 2 in either pink or blue and the cost is RRP £84.99, which for everything you get I think is good value for money. There are offers out there so make sure you shop around for the best deals. The game cartridges are £19.99 each and come with 1 animated e-book, 3 learning games and 2 creative activities. Again there are some deals on the games so make sure you shop around. The downloads start at 99p each. The Innotab 2 is aimed at ages 4-9 so you will get a good long while out of it. My youngest isn’t quite 4 yet but loves it and plays away fine on it, but the older they get the more they get out of it.
This is one that gets rave reviews in our house and played with again and again. One I can highly recommend for the Christmas list and something that can be renewed by getting new games or downloading the apps. These are useful as children can work towards getting them as rewards or they can be given as gifts. Excellent in my book. I recommend getting the adaptor for it as this is something we will be getting as the batteries can get used up quickly. Rechargeable ones are definitely more economical. All in all this is fab.
Have a look at their website for further information for apps, games and information.
